Since 03.04.10 FarmVille has updated the free Mystery GIFT prizes! The Mystery Gifts are referring to the free purple with yellow question marks that you can send to your FarmVille neighbors for free, this is NOT about the Mystery Boxes that you purchase with farm cash.
This is a very welcomed change, as farmers have been growing tired of the old prizes for awhile now!

The Locked Mystery Box can be found while you are plowing land. If you receive the box then you will will get a pop-up notification stating for you to “Enter Passcode” or “Get Passcode”. This feature is dependent on if you have signed up for FarmVille emails. You will not receive the Passcode (or the prize), until you sign up for FarmVille emails.
