FarmVille Sheep & Pig Mastery is Live!

Mon ,26/09/2011

FarmVille Freak Richard's Ram & Sheep Mastery

FarmVille Sheep and Pig Mastery is now live!

FarmVille is finally offering Mastery for your FarmVille Sheep and Pigs. These are some of the last animals (besides Calves and Foals) to have mastery available. Each time you harvest one of your Sheep or Pigs you will earn mastery points towards its Animal Mastery. After achieving all three levels of Animal Mastery, you will be rewarded with a fancy Animal Mastery Sign.

All animals that were available in the FarmVille Market are masterable and have their own specific Mastery Signs. But wait, there’s more! Pig and Sheep Mastery is a little more complicated due to all the Sheep and Pigs that we have created ourselves through breeding. Mastery is still available for those animals, sort of. Sheep or Pigs that you’ve bred yourself using your Sheep Pens or Pig Pens will have a shared Mastery Sign. In other words, there is one shared Mastery Sign for each gender animal from Pens- one Sheep Pen Ewe and Sheep Pen Ram Mastery Sign along with one Pig Pen Sow and Pig Pen Boar Mastery Sign. Each time you harvest an animal that you’ve obtained through breeding it will earn you mastery points toward its respective mastery. For example, if you harvest a Masked Flasher Ram you will earn points towards fulfilling Sheep Pen Ram Mastery.

If this sounds confusing, an easy way to find out which animal has mastery available simply check your in-game FarmVille Mastery Chart. To access the Animal Mastery Chart, go to your in-game toolbar located on the bottom left- click on the Blue Ribbon which expands the menu and then click on “Mastery” icon and finally click on the Animal tab.

The Animal Mastery for bred Sheep and Pigs is pretty steep and much more than we are used to seeing with other market animals.

Star Level 1 for Bred Sheep or Pigs

  • Sheep Pen Ewe: 840 Harvests
  • Sheep Pen Ram: 560 Harvests
  • Pig Pen Sow: 588 Harvests
  • Pig Pen Boar: 467 Harvests

Are you excited to finally be able to work on your Sheep and Pig Animal Mastery or are you over Animal Mastery?

FarmVille Issues Update on “lllegal” Sheep & Pig Breeding

FarmVille Mike's Black & Yellow Pig

FarmVille issued a statement a few minutes ago on the official FarmVille Blog addressing “illegal” Sheep and Pig breeding.

If you currently have “illegal” Sheep or Pigs obtained or “adopted” from your Facebook News Feed (or from a neighbor) such as Flashers, which have not yet been released into the FarmVille Market, these animals will no longer breed to produce the same type offspring.  For now, this means that specific patterns such as Star and Flasher Sheep will no longer produce Star or Flasher offspring. However, if and when illegal breeds are actually officially released in FarmVille, then these animals will be able to breed again.

The types of patterned Sheep and Pigs that are allowed include the following:

  • Sheep: Plain, Striped, and Spotted
  • Pigs: Plain and Spotted

Please understand that most of your neighbors who have these “illegal” animals on their farms did not obtain them through hacks nor or they cheating. There is no need to start a FarmVille witch hunt! The spreading of these unreleased animals was so rampant due to legitimate breeding, sharing, and adopting.

Since so many farmers have these “illegal” animals on their farms in which they obtained through legitimate methods, they will be able to keep them and will not be punished. What FarmVille is doing is trying to prevent continued breeding of animals that they did not intentionally release. They are in the process of patching the original methods (hacks) of how these animals were obtained before they were then bred and shared.

From FarmVille:

“Howdy farmers!

We wanted to give an update to everyone regarding certain kinds of disallowed sheep that have been available in FarmVille as well as a similar issue that appeared with pigs this past weekend. Certain types of sheep and pig colors/patterns not yet released have been improperly distributed in FarmVille; we are currently going through the process of making sure this practice stops.

The steps that we have taken are:

  • The methods by which players were able to breed unreleased sheep and pig colors and patterns have been closed.
  • Players who bred sheep and pigs using illicit methods have had their animals revert to their original base colors and no patterns.
  • Pigs and sheep acquired from feed posts (but at some point were generated using illicit methods) will get to retain their unusual colors and patterns. However, attempts to breed with these pigs or sheep will result in default colors and no additional pattern inheritance. Should we release these additional colors or patterns legitimately then players will be able to breed that animal in the appropriate, correct manner. This is not an implication that you or your neighbors have done something wrong. This is a breeding restriction of colors and patterns that as of yet have not intended to be released.

So what’s currently allowed to breed and what’s not?

  • Most current colors are allowed but the “flashing” colors are definitely not.
  • Currently Allowed Sheep Patterns: Plain, Spotted, Striped
  • Currently Allowed Pig Patterns: Plain, Spotted

Again, the intention is to stop the distribution of colors and patterns that are not currently intended but not to punish our players who have acquired these animals legitimately. When we do release these colors or patterns, you’ll be able to breed with them just as intended.

Happy Farming!”

FarmVille Piglet

We’ve all heard the rumors of FarmVille Pig Breeding and upgrades to the Pig Pen. Finally, FarmVille Freak is happy to confirm that Pig Breeding is coming soon!

It is no surprise really that Pig Breeding is in our near future with the success of Sheep Breeding and the positive feedback from many farmers who enjoy the endless possibilities of breeding Sheep.

Zynga has shared with us the image below of the user interface when “Looking Inside” the new Pig Pen. From what we gather based on the image it seems that Pig Breeding will work very similar to Sheep Breeding.

FarmVille Inside Pig Pen Breeding (Click to Enlarge)

As seen clearly in the image, there will be a Pig Pen Expansion available and Love Potions will also be utilized to breed Pigs to guarantee Piglets. So start stocking up on Love Potions! Remember, that you can “Ask For Love Potions” every 4 hours by posting a Facebook News Feed share. Whenever your neighbors click your share, they give you a Love Potion and also get one for themeselves. Up to five neighbors can click on a single Love Potion share.

At the moment, we cannot confirm any more details on the Pig Pen and Pig Breeding, but be sure to stay tuned to FarmVille Freak for up to the minute coverage as it happens!
