FarmVille Scam: Beware of “Lucky Pennies” Notice

Fri ,18/02/2011

FarmVille Freaks Naomi and JerryC98A spotted these fake Lucky Pennies shares on their Facebook News Feed. You can see an image of the fake share below. Notice the mis-spelling and wrong capitalization of the word “Wishing Wells”.

FarmVille Lucky Pennies FaceBook Notice Scam

After clicking the link you will be brought to the page seen below. This page invites you to share some free Lucky Pennies with your friends, but don’t be fooled because no one using this link is getting free pennies.

This current scam coincides with the FarmVille St. Patrick’s Day collection even that just kicked off a few days ago. Pay special attention when clicking on links from your news feed and remember that only official FarmVille shares have the ability to provide free gifts.

Are your neighbors repeatedly falling for these recent FarmVille scams? Instead of deleting them from your neighbor’s list, why not share this FarmVille Freak article with them?

Here are some tips provided by Zynga, concerning FarmVille scams:

Be Wary of Unauthorized Links and Groups
(Updated 11/08/2010 12:02 PM)

“As you know, FarmVille is a very popular game. From time to time, some entities may try to capitalize on that popularity with content that may mislead and/or harm our users. We’d like to give you a few pointers on how to identify and avoid unauthorized and potentially harmful posts and links:

  • Feeds containing art never seen in game are most likely not from FarmVille.
  • Feeds containing offers that are never mentioned in game are most likely not from FarmVille.
  • Feeds that offer Farm Cash for clicking are never from FarmVille.
  • If the icon in the lower left corner of the feed isn’t our corn husk icon, the feed is never from FarmVille.
  • If a link is posted by an entity other than FarmVille, and supposedly contains FarmVille content or a redirect to the game, we do not advise clicking on it as we cannot control URL’s that are in anyway removed from our game flows.

Additionally, don’t trust any web site that asks for your personal information, and NEVER give out your Facebook password. If you wish to report an unofficial application or suspicious web site, please write to Customer Support and provide the link to the third party application/group/program. We will be happy to investigate.

Keeping these guidelines in mind will help assure that your FarmVille experience stays pleasant and fun. Thanks and happy farming!” (Source: Zynga Customer Support)

FarmVille Scam: Beware of “Teacup Pig” Notice

Fri ,18/02/2011

In yet another FarmVille Facebook News Feed scam, farmers are getting lured into clicking a sweet little but still fake, Teacup Pig.

Just as FarmVille Freak Faisel did, you may also see this share popping up on your Facebook News Feed as seen in the image below.

FarmVille Teacup Pig FaceBook Notice Scam

However, after clicking on the “Adopt the Teacup Pig” link, you will be taken to another Facebook page that is not FarmVille. Note, that this fake share even has the correct spelling and capitalization for the word “FarmVille” located next to the corn icon.

If you accept the fake reward by clicking the blue Yes button, you will then be invited to share a Teacup Pig with your friends as seen in the image below.

Like other recent FarmVille scams, you will not receive your promised prize and you may actually be harming your computer with mal-ware. No matter how cute the reward prize is for these groups are, remember only links directly from FarmVille are trustworthy.

If you see that your FarmVille neighbors are becoming victims of these recent FarmVille scams, we encourage you to please share this FarmVille Freak article with them.

FarmVille Scam: Beware of the Kung Fu Duck!

Wed ,16/02/2011

FarmVille Kung Fu Duck FaceBook Scam Notice

Yet another FarmVille scam is circulating the Facebook news feed. This time, the Kung Fu Duck is the bait, so beware.

The picture above is what the news feed share would look like on your Facebook wall. On closer inspection you can see for yourself that it has all the signs that classify it as a scam and this being one of the more noticeable ones with its highly pixelated botched image. It starts out with an incorrect spelling of FarmVille’s preferred “Yeehaw”. Then the text’s description, grammar, and capitalization is off. Finally, take a look next to the FarmVille corn icon at the bottom left. You will notice that the source of the share is not FarmVille, instead it is sourced via “Get the Kung FU Duck”.

After clicking the fake share, another pop-up notification is triggered that asks you if you would like to adopt the Kung Fu Duck. Obviously this animal is not available for adoption. Currently, the Kung Fu Duck is featured exclusively in the FarmVille Mystery Game. You cannot purchase it directly in the FarmVille Market nor is it available anywhere else and certainly not by a free adoption (no matter what Facebook group you join or link you click). Why would Zynga give out a duck that is a Mystery Game exclusive for free when players are spending precious Farm Cash (per Mystery Game dart) to take their chances at owning one?

FarmVille Kung Fu Duck Scam Notice

The FarmVille news feed scams have been rampant as of late (See FarmVille Visit England scam or FarmVille Charming Foal scam ). So if you like to scour the Facebook news feed for bonuses, freebies, and adoptables, please take caution before clicking like a mad farmer.

Once again FarmVille Freak would like to remind you that no Facebook group is sanctioned to give out free in-game FarmVille items, especially through legitimate FarmVille shares. Any link that promises to do so is falsely using the rare special item bait to get you to join or accept their app, group, or program. Think about the logistics of how a third party group would automatically send you an in-game item. Not possible. Not only are these groups fake and fruitless as you never get the promised reward prize, many contain mal-ware that can harm your computer.

Sadly, these are not the only scams and there will certainly be more before we can even talk about them on here. We’d like to invite you to share this article with your less informed FarmVille neighbors. Oftentimes it’s the newbie farmers that fall victim to these scams and the best way to prevent them from doing so is to educate them. So be a good neighbor and instead of deleting them from your friend’s list why not share this article?

Have you seen any fake Kung Fu Ducks on your Facebook news feed? What FarmVille scams have you recently seen? Report scams to farmgoddess@farmvillefreak.com and we will share them with the FarmVille Freak community.

FarmVille Scam: Beware of the “Charming Foal”

Wed ,16/02/2011

FarmVille Charming Foal FaceBook Notice

It seems as though there are quite a few scams that have hit Facebook today! You may remember the post we did earlier about the “Visit England” scam. There is another scam that is going around Facebook that players need to be aware of!

You may remember the exclusive sneak peek that FarmVille Freak gave you yesterday of Armored Horse. This new scam on Facebook is showing a foal of that Horse and calling it a “Charming Foal”.

Please be aware that this is a scam! This is NOT a notice from the official FarmVille Zynga game!

Here are a few images below that will warn you to indicate whether the notices on the Facebook feed are a scam.

Once again, we suggest that if you see this or any other unusual posts on Facebook, do not click them. Be sure that you block the app right away. Better safe than sorry!

New FarmVille FaceBook Newsfeed Scam

Thu ,05/08/2010

There is another new FarmVille FaceBook newsfeed sharing scam.

You may see these scam posts on your FaceBook wall. They appear to be legitimate FarmVille shares of Crafting Building samples and goods, but if you notice the word “FarmVille” (as it is usually written on legitimate FarmVille shares) appears as “farmville” in lowercase letters.

You may want to avoid clicking these fake shares.

From FarmVille Freak Rashmi:

“Dear all FarmVille Farmers, I believe there is BUG rounding the FB which publishes goods and bushels updates like the real FarmVille.. Check out for the fake spelling of “farmville” instead of the real “FarmVille” with capital F n V..

And also check the fake application id which is http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=140663785964831

The real application id is http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=102452128776″ -FarmVille Freak Lashmi

Latest FarmVille Scam: Industrial Plantation 66×66 Land Expansion Scam

Fri ,11/06/2010

There is a new FarmVille scam on FaceBook. This scam promises to offer a “free” 66 x 66 Farm Expansion titled the “Industrial Plantation”.

Before you click on any links or join any such groups, please use your common sense and think about how they would actually give you a land expansion for free. Not only is the offer NOT associated with FarmVille or Zynga, we all know that Land Expansions (of any size, even unreleased) are not giftable or sendable, so the logistics of this scam would never work.

If you would like to check the resource of misleading FaceBook newsfeed notices like these especially those that offer free items, simply right click on the image and “View Source” or “View Page Info”. Real FarmVille newsfeed postings or shares can be identified by the referring URL that should start like this:

FarmVille Industrial Plantation Scam II

From FarmVille Freak Mark:

“One of my neighbors posted a link which I was very doubtful of from the beginning, but went to just on the off chance it wasn’t a lie. It was unfortunately a lie. Hardly surprising. It’s from Gamesecrets and promises you can get the 66×66 Industrial Plantation by clicking their link.

After allowing the application access to your information you get a congratulations screen that says click here for your 66×66 farm! Sounds too good to be true? It is. You get a survey! Well I got a message saying there were no surveys for my country. I’m sure if there were any way to get a 66×66 farm, Zynga would have told us about it already. Just thought I’d pass this on so others don’t waste their time!” -FarmVille Freak Mark

Thanks for sharing this info with us FarmVille Freak Mark. Remember, that if a new farm expansion were available you would hear it here first, on FarmVille Freak!
