"I can't stop watching my crops!" – FarmVille Freak

The CEO of Zynga Games, Mark Pincus, did  a video interview with CNN reporter Pauline Chiou.

Mr. Pincus, the Zynga god himself,  says the large number of Zynga players is due to the appealing nature of the games themselves, that he describes as,

“Short form, easily accessible, and social. Everyone needs five minutes of fun”.

Zynga games such as FarmVille, Mafia Wars, Cafe World and FishVille all have similar competitors. However, the Zynga games have the upper edge when compared to their non-Zynga counterparts. Why is it that Zynga games seem to be more successful than competitors?  He credits a team effort with the success of his franchise games and the investment and commitment of providing new content that keep players happy.  FarmVille alone updates and adds new content at least two times per week, always bringing something new and interesting for its virtual farmers.

When asked, “When is the IPO!? When will Zynga go public?”,  he responds with:

“We are a young company at only three years old. It’s amazing that people are asking us when we are going to go public…it’s flattering,”

There is no set date or time frame when Zynga will go public.

The FarmVille Gift Box has increased its size in capacity!

It can now hold more gifts that you accept from FarmVille neighbors.

The maximum FarmVille Gift Box capacity has been increased to 50.

So I posted a comment in the chat thread about this and brought it up in the chat, but everyone was called me a lair and a fake. So I made a quick video to show it and this is what it was. Not sure if it’s a cache issue or something, but I haven’t been looking at any of that stuff on this computer, so not sure where it would be coming from.

It’s been a while since FarmVille Freak first introduced the suggestion for a Colombia Flag.  Looks like FarmVille has listened! More flags to represent your country, heritage, and pride!

Zynga, the developers of FarmVille and Mafia Wars, has already raised over $900,000 dollars with the help of FarmVille players for the earthquake victims of Haiti. Great work FarmVille Freaks!!!

FarmVille made a special announcement to FarmVille players on Monday night, 01.18.10:

“Wow! We’re humbled by your generosity. Y’all have contributed over $900,000 to the Zynga Haiti Relief Fund! If we can exceed $1 million in donations before 11:59 pm PT Tuesday, we’ll give all Farmers a surprise! It’s your last chance – so head to your farm and purchase some White Corn!” (FarmVille)

The  purchase of virtual goods that includes White Corn seeds for FarmVille and Haitian drums for Mafia Wars  are bought with real cash in which Zynga is donating 100% of proceeds to The World Food Program for the Haiti Relief Fund. 

Prior to the earthquake in Port a Prince, Haiti, Zynga had already established a special relationship with the country of Haiti when it started the first Sweet Seeds for Haiti campaign on October 1st 2009 by reaching out to FarmVille players and bringing awareness to the poverty in Haiti.  Over 1.2 million was raised with past contributions. With the recent earthquake disaster in Haiti, many of Zynga’s FarmVille players were hoping that another campaign effort would take place as they were eager to support Haitian relief efforts.  

The Sweet Seeds for Haiti – Haiti Relief Fund is represented with White Corn seeds in FarmVille. The seeds have only been available to FarmVille players since Friday, January 15th 2010 and the response has been overwhelming. Please consider donating if you already play FarmVille and are interested in helping the people of Haiti. The White Corn seeds will be available to purchase in the FarmVille Market until Friday, January 22nd, one week from their debut.

If you would like to support the Haitian Relief efforts and donate in another way, here are some additional resources:

For Farmville players in the US, all it takes is a handful of coins and a trip to the grocery store.  You only need $5 in coins to purchase enough FV$ to donate to Sweet Seeds for Haiti. Here’s how it works:

• 2. When choosing how to redeem your coins, be sure and select the egiftcertificate option.

THE ZYNGA / FARMVILLE OFFERS are BACK!!!

With the return of FarmVille Offers, it seems as though they have done away with all of the scam offers from the past and have only legitimate offers available from reliable and trustworthy companies such as Blockbuster, Netflix and Snapfish just to name a few. Note that you may still have to enter credit card information.

You can find the offers by clicking on “Add Farm Coins and Cash” tab at the top of your FarmVille home screen. The offers are located at the bottom.

This option is not availble for players outside the United States as of now. Since the offers are valid in the United States through U.S. based companies, someone in a country that does not have Netflix service could not complete a valid offer for in exchange for farm cash. There is no word from Zynga if other countries will have access to offers in the future.

Check it out for yourself and remember to use your own common sense!

Two new ribbons were also released in FarmVille. The Fenced In Ribbon which works by rewarding you for collecting fences and the Egg-celent Discovery Ribbon which rewards you for finding Mystery Eggs in your Chicken Coop.

Here are the requirements for both of these new ribbons.

The Fenced In Ribbon Requirements:

• Yellow Ribbon: Requires 5, gain of 25 XP and 500 Coins.
• White Ribbon: Requires 50, gain of 100 XP and 2,500 Coins.
• Red Ribbon: Requires 100, gain of 250 XP and 5,000 Coins.
• Blue Ribbon: Requires 250, gain of 1000 XP and 10,000 Coins.
