Have you ever been angry because of interrupted farming?
We’ve all experienced the annoying “Saving Farm” errors or other loading and accessibility technical issues that sometimes prevent you from getting your farming fix. Or maybe you are sick of paying farm cash for all the “good stuff”. Perhaps you are still missing items stolen away by the Zynga gods. Like any other addiction, maybe you’ve threatened “to quit” farming, but found yourself back to harvesting in the middle of the night. Whatever the case, despite the problems and frustrations with FarmVille, Zynga has all of us FarmVille Freaks hooked!
Check out the hilarious video below of one farmer’s “Freak-Out” farming session that describes the experience of many farmers and our love-hate relationship with FarmVille.
Warning: The following video contains adult language (although it is censored out), please watch at your own discretion.
Lately lots of farmers are complaining that FarmVille has become “all about the money”. Even though the Zynga gods have recently made more limited edition items available with coin options, farmers are still complaining about the expensive farm cash ruling FarmVille.
FarmVille is a free game for everyone to play and the big Z is a business like any other company so they are entitled to make profit from their game.
The video jokingly depicts some of the addictions and obsessions that many FarmVille Freaks face. Here is an excerpt from the opening lyrics:
“There’s just too much violence in the World of War Craft, and I can’t stand the guns in Mafia Wars, so I slip on my overalls and i log onto FaceBook. I want the feeling of working outside while I’m sitting indoors. So I’m wasting the day again in FarmaritaVille tryng to raise my Carrots and Corn. Some people claim that I’ve got no life at all, but at least its better than porn.”
My personal favorite line is, “Life is not about Carrots!”
If you have made your own video or song about FarmVille, please share it with us by emailing farmgoddess@farmvillefreak.com and we may feature it on FarmVille Freak.
Being a FarmVilleFreak, I love your site. I made this playfully critical video about the differences between FarmVille and real farms. It stars my country-girl character, Darlene. Originally I intended it for people to post on their neighbors Facebook walls, but I wanted to send it to you too! I hope you like it, and I hope all the other FarmVille Freaks do too!
Here is an official demo video of FarmVille native iPhone & iPod Touch App by Zynga as demonstrated at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2010. FarmVille for iPhone is said to be released by end of June 2010 just in time to celebrate FarmVille’s one year anniversary, as announced by Zynga CEO, Mark Pincus.
Highlights of FarmVille for iPhone
You will be using your same existing FarmVille farm, now accessible through your iPhone.
You will have access to the same friends and neighbors as on FaceBook.
There are “push” notifications that will alert you when your crops are ready to be harvested.
Improved plowing, seeding, and harvesting functions that will allow you to work with multiple plots at the same time (more than even the Hot Rod tractor).
Exclusive animal for FarmVille on iPhone only is the Snow Leopard animal.
Mark Skaggs, the Vice President of Product Development for Zynga speaks about the time-based gameplay of FarmVille.
He says that “In the world of farming you know that crops will take time to grow” so they made various timed crops while keeping lifestyle and farming preferences in mind. In other words, some farmers like to farm as soon as they wake up and plant their crops, knowing that they will harvest after work, others prefer one day or more crops because that is all the time that they can devote to farming. Having different time frames for each crops, allows farmers to choose which crops work best for them.
When deciding on “the wither mechanic” FarmVille developers found that when plants actually wither and turn brown it is disappointing but not as bad as animals “dying” like in FishVille, which is why FarmVille animals do not die, they just “run away” like FarmVille Dogs.
Watch the video above for more details.
Which timed crops do you like to plant the most? Which crops work best for your farming lifestyle?
I just saw this vid on Senator Begich’s page, right before the end he says “thank you and good luck tending to your Farmville crops, I wish I could find the time to play”.
I was watching “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and during the segment called “Competitive Spit Takes” (right after the monologue) one of the contestants had a T-shirt that said “Got Farm?” and when he turned around you could see that the shirt said “FarmVille” on the back.
I thought for sure someone would beat me to the punch telling Farmville Freak about it, but since I didn’t see it mentioned… On the May 12th episode of The Colbert Nation (introduction moments of the show), Stephen Colbert gave Farmville a nod as a lead in to his segment on”Can the military overcome its problem recruiting young people?” Stephen’s answer? “Yes… if they invade fun places like Farmville.”
You can find the whole thing at ColbertNation.com or at this direct link to the introduction clip:
In an episode of South Park that debuted on Wednesday, April 7th 2010, the gang of South Park pokes fun at Facebook and even FarmVille!
Kyle is shown playing a game that looks very similar to FarmVille even though they never specifically name-drop “FarmVille” it is clear that they are referring to Facebook’s #1 Farm game It does display “FarmVille” when Kyle’s farm is shown and Cafe World is also mentioned!
Thanks to FarmVille Freak Brett, for bringing this to our attention.
