“There’s just too much violence in the World of War Craft, and I can’t stand the guns in Mafia Wars, so I slip on my overalls and i log onto FaceBook. I want the feeling of working outside while I’m sitting indoors. So I’m wasting the day again in FarmaritaVille tryng to raise my Carrots and Corn. Some people claim that I’ve got no life at all, but at least its better than porn.”

My personal favorite line is, “Life is not about Carrots!”

Mark Skaggs, the Vice President of Product Development for Zynga speaks about the time-based gameplay of FarmVille.

He says that “In the world of farming you know that crops will take time to grow” so they made various timed crops while keeping lifestyle and farming preferences in mind. In other words, some farmers like to farm as soon as they wake up and plant their crops, knowing that they will harvest after work, others prefer one day or more crops because that is all the time that they can devote to farming. Having different time frames for each crops, allows farmers to choose which crops work best for them.

When deciding on “the wither mechanic” FarmVille developers found that when plants actually wither and turn brown it is disappointing but not as bad as animals “dying” like in FishVille, which is why FarmVille animals do not die, they just “run away” like FarmVille Dogs.

I was watching “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and during the segment called “Competitive Spit Takes” (right after the monologue) one of the contestants had a T-shirt that said “Got Farm?” and when he turned around you could see that the shirt said “FarmVille” on the back.

I thought for sure someone would beat me to the punch telling Farmville Freak about it, but since I didn’t see it mentioned… On the May 12th episode of The Colbert Nation (introduction moments of the show), Stephen Colbert gave Farmville a nod as a lead in to his segment on”Can the military overcome its problem recruiting young people?” Stephen’s answer? “Yes… if they invade fun places like Farmville.”

Kyle is shown playing a game that looks very similar to FarmVille even though they never specifically name-drop “FarmVille” it is clear that they are referring to Facebook’s #1 Farm game It does display “FarmVille” when Kyle’s farm is shown and Cafe World is also mentioned!
