Fail? Too stingy? You people are ridiculous. How about there doesn’t have to be any collection to begin with? This collection wasn’t your idea, none of you are “entitled” to anything based on the difficulty. How about Farmville just hands everyone three of everything and 10,000 fuel refills? Then you would complain that you didn’t get five of everything and 20,000 fuel refills. Everything that gets rolled out, all I see on these boards is, “This sucks”, “you should get more”, “I want this, I want that”. Complain, complain, complain. This is a free game – if you hate it that much, don’t play. Like a bunch of four year olds.

I agree with you here…they could have easily not included this, or made the rewards just a trophy or something…
People…you can get free refills if you do this! I’m almost finished one of the collections, and to be honest, I am in no particular hurry to finish it.

How in the world can you almost be finished with a collection. I have plowed, harvested and seeded my farm 4-5 times over and haven’t gotten anything. I got a ladybug fertilizing and I do the maximum every day. Besides the two gifted items,. nothing. When it comes to harvesting chickens and cows, does anyone know if they should be in or out of the coops or barns or should they be outside loose. What about the plowing, harvesting and seeding? Do we use machinery or not. I have been doing half of it with tractor, seeder, harvester and half by not using them. I haven’t gotten anything either way. Oh, well I guess we will all have to learn by trial and error. Argh!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone else in the UK having problems with getting any of these?? my friend is the same he cant get anything yet and i have harvisted 200ish feilds and poughed the same about havisted around 200 animals.. also fertilised 30 friends.. i dont think its workin because we are in a different regein that the USA is anyone els ethe same???

I’m kind of meh. Not impressed but not complaining, the gas’ll be a bonus whenever I finish. May take a while since I’ve found nothing outside of the gifts.

I only need the cowbell for the Country Kitsch collection. I have no feathers either. I got the centipede (my only rare), but I didn’t see the popup when I earned it, I only saw it later on when I was checking my collection. One thing that was mentioned in the podcast that looks like it hasn’t been rolled out yet is that Lexi mentioned that you would be able to post and share the uncommon and rare items. I haven’t had that option yet, nor have I seen anyone else post one. Maybe that will be rolled out as part of this week’s update. I have to say that while not all of their updates are the most interesting things, at least they are trying to spice it up and to add new wrinkles. If you look at this compared to Farmtow that rolls out an update once every six months, we really have nothing to complain about.

I get items randomly when i log in. I’ve found only one while plowing and 4 when i log in, didn’t have them when i previously logged out.

About getting items through GIFTING.. Do I have to gift any specific kind of item, for getting a collectible or it doesn’t matter..? And how many neighbors do I have to gift (all 24 or else)..

Gosh, how about doing it because it’s fun. If you get coins, fuel or a can of beans in the mail, what the heck, it didn’t cost you a bloomin’ thing except play time. Just enjoy the game and stop whining about what Santa didn’t bring you. Shees.

I think it means you have to harvest that particular animal, whether or not it’s in a building…I don’t think it matters. I’m pretty sure, though, that calves will not give cow bells.

i got a pocket watch a sec ago but it wasnt through plowing… i did all my harvesting plowing and seeding, helping people and fertilizing and didnt have it after all that… all ive done since then is post a lonely penguin

okay tow questions
1) Do you have to harvest individual cows? or does the dairy farm count
and
2) Can you reap the same benefits by using the machines aka seeder, tractor etc? or must you plow each plot individually?

I’ve only used the machines and have gotten the collectibles. I haven’t plowed an individual plot since prior to Christmas and all of the free fuel. Although now that the gold eggs are now fuel-less, guess I’ll have to brace myself for slow harvesting/plowing/seeding again!!

I got a ladybug, beetle, blue feather. I never got a pop-up like when I get when I use the gifted collections. they should fix that.

I would take the xp points over the coins. An item that provides 250 cp would cost 25,000 coins….so its actually a pretty sweet deal

Ok so this feature may be at bit crude at the mo (It’ll be refined as time goes on I’m sure) but it opens up a whole new area of possibilites.
What I really like about it is that it provides an endless reason to perform farming tasks once the other reasons are no longer valid (once the ribons have been achieved etc)

I think Farmville will show you if you find one of the collectibles now, because I was fertilizing a friend’s farm, and a notice came up, saying I found a cultivator…don’t know if it’ll be the same for all items, but I THINK they will appear as a notice now.

I’m unimpressed with the collection prizes but since I’m doing all the stuff I’d do anyway to get the collectibles, I don’t care. It just won’t be that exciting. I think it’s be great if they gave 1000XP, a mystery animal box or 30 refuels (like what came in the gold eggs) Those kind of prizes would get me running over the lists and making sure I was doing each and every thing to complete the collections. I also don’t think it’s wrong to complain…Someone was complaining on another post that the Dragonfly was only up one day and that they hoped the other items wouldn’t be and now the remaining items are being posted for 3 days at time. Sometimes it’s the squeaky wheel that gets things changed. Maybe if enough people say the collectibles game just isn’t worth their time because the prizes aren’t appealing (nicely of course) perhaps the powers that be will change that. I’m pretty sure that with all the new stuff that they constantly put in the game they are trying to keep the users playing and I’m also sure they appreciate constructive feedback both positive and negative to make sure they keep people engaged. Make no mistake, they aren’t providing this game out of the goodness of their hearts, they are there to make money and we are their number one customers.

Like you said, you’re doing stuff that you would normally do…why would you be given Mystery Boxes, a ton of fuel refills, or anything of that caliber? No…simple stuff like this is fine, if this is not something you’re really focusing on…if there were better items as rewards, it still wouldn’t be stuff worth a lot of Farm Cash…just have fun with this…treat it like a scavenger hunt, if you want, but enjoy the fact that Zynga’s giving us SOMETHING new.

question — those of you that are finding items quickly and easily, do you purchase coins/cash from Farmville? I’m just wondering if it’s tied to your account in that way. The more you spend, the more likely you are to find these items, maybe??? just a friendly, curious question. no flaming please!
I’m one of those having an incredibly difficult time finding the items, yet I plow and seed regularly and harvest crops/animals/trees regularly. And of course visit 20+ friends’ farms fertilizing and “helping”.

I was wondering, like with the ribbons it tells you exactly how many times you have to do something to get a ribbon.. What are the standards for the collection, is it random? I would like to be able to see, “in order to get the dragonfly you must harvest 4 trees” so i know what i need to be working towards!

I got these just by playing as I normally do. I gift the max everyday, fert. neighbors’ farms and feed chickens, and using my machinery to harvest, plow and seed. I think whatever we get is great!! I definitely hope they continue the collections.

There seems to be another way to get more items. When I was plowing my farm I found a(nother) Centipede and was asked if I wanted to share. I said yes, published to my wall and this way my friends were able to catch a Centipede as well. Haven’t been asked to share with other items I found even if I already had them.

2 of the pruning saw!! (one i found while harvesting maple trees and was the only one that actually popped up for me to see.. the other i am not sure)

i’ve only used vehicles to plow/harvest/seed and i’ve gathered from almost all my animals.
all in all, i am happy.. i think i might take the xp as a prize.. seems like the best choice

I only go for the country kitsch because it’s easy to get, just plow, gift and harvest some cows. I sold all my animals and trees when i got the blue ribbon for each but I save the cows..:)

I can confirm the hen feathers, they ARE coming from chickens
I persuaded myself to collect all the chickens around the coop (at least 100 chickens) and got 3 hen feathers. They appeared in the collection after refreshing and there was no pop-up about getting them. So they can be found 
and they’re not that rare as everybody says.
So I got these collectibles so far:
1 trowel
1 cultivator
9 needle points (gifted)
1 pocketwatch
1 ladybug
2 dragonflies (gifted)
1 caterpillar
1 green plume (gifted)
3 hen feathers
1 red plume (the only uncommon item I have)
This is not so bad after 3 or 4 days of collecting. I’m sorry I can’t tell when I got the items, but NO pop-ups have shown so far…

Okay, question. This is about the planting and harvesting. I wonder if there is any coorelation between the collectables and which type of planting. I am trying to get my blue ribbon for fruits so the last 3 days that is all I have planted. I have not received any collectables while harvesting, plowing or seeding the fruits. Also could it be the time each crop takes. I have planted 8 hour or less crops since it was the weekend. Do you have a better chance with 1,2 or 3 day crops? Could people on this site start listing which type of crop they planted, plowed and harvested and if they received collectables or not?

I think as of right now, everyone should check their collections until FarmVille fixes these pop up box issues. I just found I got a Cultivator and I never had a pop up box show up. So if you think you might not be getting anything, chances are you have been but it just hasn’t been notifying you.

Yes Kira…I was wondering the same thing. I’ve only found two items so far and the the other two items were gifts. You do need to check your collectibles every now and then as the popups work sporadically.

i just harvested 200 chickens (0nly 20 are in the coop) and got nothing… im not saying that i dont like the idea, but how many times do i have to do something to get them? i have over 100 trees, and over 100 cows, harvest whenever they are ready, but get nothing. and ive been doing the sweet seeds for haiti, so i harvest plant a plow multiple times a day and have only found one thing… odd i think, maybe they havent worked out the kinks yet.. good idea tho

I have 11 of the things now. Now I feel like I must be on it all the time.
I don’t have ducks or turkeys so it looks like I won’t get some of the feathers. I did add a sheep so I hopefully get some twine.

i almost have all the collectibles, they jus pop up as gotten and found, i dont work for the,lol. but i really want to know when we will have farmville dogs. i want a lil black puppy. =) i hope they keep getting new and cute animals, like lil frogs, other kinds of birds, even lil snakes to slither round the farm would be cute.

yes using a machine works on getting the items… i too have almost a full collection… all i need is the cowbell. i have found items on friends’ pages as well. i dont know yet if you need to have your cows or chickens in the coop or outside… i am trying to see if both works. with some of the items you might not even see the pop-up at the bottom, i know i didnt for a few of them. start watching for others to find rare or uncommon items. i have tried to grab as many as i can.

My complaint isnt that I cannot find a single item even though I have plowed and planted x5 the entire farm. The rules are being changed mid-game as the fertilize 50 and gifts 20 are limited now and where did the eggs go to? I say no one should put another dollar into Zynga games until they can decide to stop playing with people. I am starting to feel as a game they are playing!

I finished one collection and I go all three: the coins, the xp and the fuel though it is great. Also I was gifted a red feather through the new tool bar – check that one out!
So far, people only reported to have found hen feathers through harvesting chicken outside the coop
Has anyone experience on finding a cow bell? Its the only item missing in this series of collectibles for me. But I’m almost sure, that its done with the individual cow.

It’s all really about having fun people, so stop complaining.
I got all three when I got my first collection – gas, coins and experience.
I haven’t found a cow bell yet either, I have cows both in and out of the dairy farm thing. My random feathers came from my chickens outside out the coop.
One of the new butterflies can be gifted from one of your friends and you can also give them a butterfly.
Again, if you aren’t having fun playing this game, then don’t play.

I have gotten loads of things already and completed some collections. So has my daughter who only has about 25 neighbors mind you. She has completed 2 collections already and almost there on alot more. I think it is completely random but fun when you find one!

So the cow bell has to be earned by harvesting cows OUTSIDE a dairy barn?

i want to get the cowbell but i dont know if harvesting my dairy farm counts as “harvesting cows” do i have to harvest them indivdually or not and basically the same concept for the the salt shaker can i use my plower or does it have to be done by hand.

i would like to see some more farm upgrades cause my farm is a 24×24 but its still not big enough and i would like to see some horse farms like the dairy farms and also i want to be able to buy another chicken coop cause i have so many extra chickens outside my chicken coop.

I got a cowbell today and it was collecting milk from my dairy…so NO they do not have to be outside the dairy. Pity it was lost to my friends since the site is down again.

any ideas what tree the caterpiilar comes from. i have around 40 trees in a 24×24 farm do you think i need to buy more if so what type? so far i have not had one caterpillar since it started but plenty of the uncommon and some rare?

Geezz I hardly fine anything and i have 24rx24 over 100 trees, all kinds of animals level 55 and 60 neighbors… i dont know what im doing wrong… Does anyone know if we have to go to one of the animals and trees so many times to get one…. like for every 200 times i pet the turkey it gives me one feather? or harvest a tree 30 times to get a big or bug….

I think the prizes are cool. 250 XP, 5000 coins, AND 5 fuel refills. It’s better than nothing at all. I especially like getting the free fuel.
I agree that some of the items are difficult to get (and it does tell us that) but rather that than so easy that it’s not fun collecting. I have trouble mostly with finding the centipede, cow bell, twine, red feather, and blue feather.

@ all the cry babies…You people are crazy…. i say the Collectibles are for the ppl who play alot i completed enough collectibles and i post 5-6 a day on weekends and 1 or 2 on weekdays i only care about the free gas part cause that stuff cost FV cash and i got 128 refills and since it cost 65 fv cash for 50 refills… this is the best way to complete the” Lord of the Plow” and “Need to Seed” ribboons. i did…

On farmville chat 1 today, people were getting blue, purple and rainbow coloured chickens and neon coloured butterflies. Any idea what this is about? Can’t find anything on farmville about it

Sorry, don’t know anything about coloured chickens, but I’m having real trouble finding a cow bell.
My three mates and I have harvested thousands of cows (cowsheds & individual cows) since the collections started, but none of us have ever found a single cow bell. Any ideas on what we are doing wrong?

I just got a cowbell to complete my first collection!!! I was kind of worried after reading the posts about how hard it is, but keep the faith, as I have only been playing 11 days and milking cows about a week. However, that had nothing to do w/ it. When someone else finished their collection, I clicked on it to share, and received a cowbell. From that same person completing several in a row, I was also able to collect a red feather, blue butterfly, & a centipede. All things I did not have yet and I was able to get them through a friend, not the way listed on this post or even as hints on the collection tab.

OK.. I am getting very frustrated with collections!! Everyday I harvest – plow and plant on the biggest land they have and no collectibles. Then over 100 cows – no collectibles. I have over 80 chickens no collectibles. And I have so many trees (refuse to count them) and NO COLLECTIBLES!!! So far I can only seem to get them – when someone else gets them. Otherwise it’s every once in a blue moon and I might get one – One I DONT need!! Then my gift basket is full of collectibles – but I can’t use because I’ve maxed out my collection – the problem is I can’t complete them, cuz the ones I need are no where to be found!!!I I don’t want to delete the ones in my gift basket! COME ON – make this easier!!!!!!

but I get most of the butterflies, the stick insect, caterpillar, and even the blue feather has turned up. Only wish I could still buy them.
I get a lot of hen feathers, but they’ve all come from “free” hens (And frankly harvesting the little beggers is getting very tiresome) and not those in the coop. Trees, well mine are the biggest source of collectables – I wonder if they are linked to the price/return of the trees, because mine are all the decorative fir trees – it cost me every spare bit of coin to get them in the first place
However, I’ve never seen a cow bell & neither have any of my mates, and we harvest cows from cowsheds and separately.

I’ve had fun with the collections. The only one im having trouble on getting is the cowbell. I havnt gotten one yet. but hopesfully soon i will. I have so far completed 41 collections.

I find it very hard to find collectibles….I harvest, plough, trees, friends farms…all of the activities I am
suppose to and very rarely find anything. mostly I get from other peoples posts when they find something and when they complete a collection. Most of my collection categorys are filled with 10 items each and am awaiting that ‘last’ item to complete it. My gift box is full of collectible items that I can’t place in my colleciton… what to do ??? I can’t accept anything (other non collectible gifts) as I have no room anymore….
Either…it needs to be easier to find collectibles or the number of gifts you can have at any one time needs to increase from 50.

well Rob seeing that farmville trys to limit how much you can do with this game, until you need to purchase things for real cash, when something is free. Like these collections. That are not easy to complete. You should receive 20 fuel refills, or more than 250 xp. Seeing that i can buy things with coins that will get me that xp. honestly 5 refills isn’t gonna last me more than 2 or 3 days. One thing i want to add, is everyone does complain about how expensive some things are, well people shouldn’t buy these things, and they would quit screwing us over.

Collections suck. I am in the situation where I have tons of items I have collected. I have tons of stuff I harvest from where I should get collection items from, but I don’t. I only get stuff from friends posts. And then only if they have not all been taken or its something I don’t already have 10 of. It is just too freakin hard. In addition, it is VERY annoying having a ribbon based on collections. It’s like having a ribbon based on luck. Too bad, you’re not lucky so you don’t get this ribbon. Have a nice day. That sucks. I thought the ribbons were something you earned for putting forth the effort to complete a task. Not something just any dumbazz can fall into. Sorry to get off the point.

I disagree with you. I have tons of fuel thanks to the collections. And I have the 24×24 farm, which costs me 8-9 fuel each time for a complete harvest/plow/seed. Just have a lot of neighbours. And don’t forget to open all the mystery eggs. there are also collection items in it, or maybe 20 fuel in a golden.
And very handy is the app farmville bonus checker.

At this moment there seems to be a problem with the collections links. They yield crap 95% of the time. And sometimes it gives s’thing useful, butin the gift box it is still a needlepoint or emperor. I hope they fix it soon. For people who need the fuel this is really annoying.

Has any one else ever completed a collection only to return to FV later and find that collection once again incomplete? It’s happened to me three times now. I completed the Country Kitsch collection months ago but then suddenly one day I was missing the cowbell and have yet to find it again Then I finally found the twine to complete the Gardening Tools collection, and posted it to the news feed and traded it in and everything and now I am missing the twine again. And then today I completed the Butterfly collection, posted it and now I a missing two butterflies? Weird…

what i really dont get, is why are all these people saying the rewards you get arnt worth the effort of collecting the items. from what i can see, you dont use any effort, you get these items off doing what you would normally do for nothing, so why dont you all stop complaining and be gratefull that they have decided to give us rewards for doing something we would normally do for free!!

ok here is the thing. It does NOT matter if your using a machine or hand plowing and such you get the collection regardless… the trick to getting more is by using the hints and visiting your neighbors.. you wont find the full collection by just doing your farm.
finally animals in your barn do count and you can get something for your collection by harvesting your barns and nurseries. What they mean is that if your visiting your neighbors and are looking for a cow bell click on one of the loose cows etc…find a goose..in others you have to harvest tree’s or geese or turkeys for the rare banded feather.
as in all things if you dont visit and work on your neighbors farm you will not collect, I tend to my neighbors farms daily and fill a collection at least three times daily so I know this to be fact. You have to have to have to follow the hints for the item you are looking for and it will tell you where to go….my banded feather says small farm with big birds…..only one of my neighbors fits that description its my neice…I have 80 neighbors though so it could have something to do with my luck with the collections. good luck!

another trick I use is looking at my neighbors walls there are always a few collectibles turned in you can get things that way.

Chickens are chickens you can win something by feeding them….you dont get any xp by using your chores on harvesting chickens if you feed the chickens and fertilize you get a total of 15 xp per neighbor and THAT adds up. I dont mess with the chickens that are littered around my farm or anyones farms I leave them for my neighbors so they can have something to do…
I also never fertilize my farm….notice that the higher up players never fertilize because its really not necessary and so they leave it for there neighbors so they can level up with the XP points gotten for that.

beauty of the collections is that you can collect and then turn them in and start over again but you only need a few of the items after your first completion. so what is happening is your turning them in and getting your points and coins and then you need to collect only those items to do it over again…its why I can complete so many collections a day because..
