FarmVille Dog Herding and Other Tricks, Still Coming Soon
Each FarmVille Dog has a specific trick that is unique to their breed. While all Puppies that have grown into adult Dogs can learn these same tricks: Shake, Roll Over, and Play Dead, each breed of dog will also have an exclusive trick. For example coin purchasable Border Collies can herd as their final trick. After completing all the levels of tricks and the final 7 treats needed to master herding, you will be able to unlock the herding feature, but will still have to wait for this feature to be “live”.
FarmVille Freak Robyn's Mastered Herd Trick Notice
Upon mastering the final trick you should receive a pop-up message stating that your pet is “too tired” after mastering all the tricks and will need more time to rest. In other words, Zynga is working on a way to smoothly implement the seemingly complicated feature into the game.
All breed specific tricks are currently “Coming Soon” even if you have mastered the trick with feeding your dog the required treats.

LambChopp, I had the same thought. I have a real life terrier mix, and he’s ready to take off after any rodent he sees. Harvesting pigs to get truffles was strange enough, but this is just macabre, LOL!

I wonder how many months it’ll be “coming soon” on this feature as well?
All along, I figured that the big hold up with the dogs would be the fact that — since they interact with the other animals — the “walk” feature isn’t functional right now. In fact, when my dogs walk behind me, it’s so ridiculously slow, even with high quality graphics turned off, so OBVIOUSLY they’re still having major problems with it. So, as usual, the meatheads at Zynga figured they’d release the dog in it’s unfinished state to quiet us down for a few weeks while they continued working the bugs out. The bugs aren’t worked out, but at least we have our dogs.
The good news is, despite the problems, I LOVE my dogs.
The bad news is, Farmville’s got a lotta fixin’ to do, and they need to do it fast!

If you sell your easter basket, it turns brown again – but be sure you want that, it also means all your eggs are gone, no more redeemables and yo u are unable to collect easter eggs anymore.
Wait al ittle longer, till the point is reached that yo u can not grab any eggs anymore, like Valentines and Gold.

i’m interested to see what ‘herding’ means exactly… some of the features are silly… but maybe theres a reason they are going to do this ‘special jobs’ only time will tell.

Question, I fed my dog all biscuit required for it to herd (coming soon) however it still says i have to feed it every night 2/0 for next trick hungry in 1:37…..Do I have to continue to feed the dog?

These stupid dogs have been the most over-hyped, ill-conceived thing in Farmville since the “holiday” tree filled with lame nutcrackers and toy soldiers. It seems like Zynga completely ran out of ideas sometime in March. Yes sir, the shark has been jumped.

So on a mostly unrelated note…. since they are coming out with these production buildings – bakery, winery.. etc. etc. It would be awesome if they would give us a Meat Packing plant.
Think of it.. instead of deleting all those plain white chickens… you could stick them in your meat packing plant and sell Farm Fresh Chicken Breasts.
Doh, another plain boring cow? Ground Beef and Steaks! Is your farm crawling with baby calves? Veal Cutlets! Pork Chops, Bacon, Thanksgiving Turkey, Mutton…..
Perhaps they could work it into the bakery though, by making Pies (not just apple and pumpkin, those are boring!)
Bushels of Wheat… check.
Cows milk for butter and cream… check.
Carrots, Potatoes, Corn… check.
Eggs… check.
Twenty chickens of any color… CHECK MATE!
Yeah, it’s a bit morbid, but really — we have to delete unwanted surplus animals, otherwise they’d take over the whole joint, right? Why not turn them into “Mrs. Tweedy’s Chicken Pies?!”

Okay i have waited and fed my small brown terior today it say congradulations your dog id a adult but there is no dog i have spent the last two hours moving everything trying to find the dog it is gone it was fed today so where is it i even checked my market to see if they took it nothing its just gone i had the pup on stay i’m so sick of this stuff ZYNGA I’M SO TIRED OF ALL THIS PUT MY DOG BACK.I SPEND A FORTUNE ON THIS STUPID GAME AND YOU DO THIS.

Mine is gone as well. I searched for him everywhere. I was even desperate enough to search in the gift box and the buildings but all for nothing. I’m relieved though that it’s not only my problem. It means that probably it’s just a bug they’ll fix.

I have the same problem. Mine is at 2/0 now. I “over fed” it. Will it run away if I don’t feed it? I’ve kept feeding it because I’m scared it’ll lose the tricks.

@Abe and all the worried dog-feeders, once the puppy has become a dog he cannot run away now, relax! The worst that can happen if you forget a feed is it will forget the trick it was learning and you have to start over. I found that after I’d given mine all the 7 biscuits for herding there was still an option to feed everyday, but I think it’s a glitch i.e. they are programmed to be feed-able every day, rather pointlessly, even after they have got all the tricks learned. As for lost dogs, it should always be clicked on “allow follow” and then if he’s off to the side somewhere he will come running back towards the centre when you re-start the game. Sometimes after making him do a trick or feeding it switches to “stay” so you need to keep an eye on that.

@Abe. As soon as your puppy became a dog the feeding became entirely voluntary, only necessary if you want him to do tricks. He cannot run away now, but make sure he is clicked to “allow follow” and then he will always run towards you when you start the game (unless you trapped him somewhere). There is no need to feed him everyday now you have taught him everything. I think the reason you are still able to feed after that is just a glitch,i.e. the dogs must have been programmed right from the start to be feed-able every day without limit of time, but there’s no point.

Hello, I too over fed my dog and was at 4/0 but yesterday I decided to not feed him and see what would happen and it counted all the way down to zero and … he didnt run away and now he just says Level 5 (herder) and also isnt asking for treats anymore. Hope this helps you guys =)

they need to release dog houses and dog bowls, etc. toys maybe for the pups that they go after like a ball or frisbee. you could throw it and watch them chase it and bring it back. =)
i fenced my two doggies i got with coin in one of my yards, they are cute and just need more to do. wont buy the fv$ ones. use the fv$ to buy exotic animals and things that i can’t just ‘get’…they need to expand again. i am maxed out, and add levels because level 70 people are leaving their farms to go to other games…they need to add to what we have and expand…maybe add playground equipment to the school theme ….and take a break from ‘new themes’ just for a bit so we can just make room and add to what we have. or people will get annoyed or bored with it.

I had the same problem with my Terrier vanishing. Turns out he didn’t run away. When you give him his last puppy chow is when he usually vanishes. HES NOT GONE, Hes just invisible. If your lucky you had him at STAY. Go to where he was before you fed him to make sure he IS there. You’re going to have to drag items across where you know he is. If hes there.. you wont be able to put anything on him and the game wont let you put anything down because it will turn RED like your trying to place something on an area that isn’t available. Block off where he is with bales of hay.he should reappear shortly. I apologize if this confuses anyone its just the best way i know to explain it and it worked for me.

I put my farmer and both my dogs in a fenced in area before I did some plowing so it would not be so slow. When I went back into FV later, one dog was out and following but the other was still in the fenced in area. I let him out and he followed but later when I went back in he was yet again in the fenced in area. He has now been stuck in there when I go in every time for weeks! I have to let him out.

I bought my Border Collie for 300,000 coins. The instructions said to feed her kibble once a day at the same time – or the next time I signed on to Farmville, for 14 days. About halfway through the 14 days, my puppy was gone. I hadn’t missed a feeding. Then a note popped up that my puppy had run away however had been rescued and to go to the Pet section of the market to find her. Oh I found her alright, and it cost me 2 FV cash to get her back. Three days ago, after I had her for 6 weeks, she disappeared. I looked everywhere. I even took my person around the farm so she would run to her. Is there someone out there stealing dogs on Farmville?
I became so attached to her that I feel just heartbroken that she’s gone.
