FarmVille Super Pumpkins Back from the Dead
Thank you to FarmVille Freak Mark for updating us on the status of the Super Pumpkins!
Super Pumpkins appear to be back, for anyone who is still interested (as of 3:16 am EST).
I managed to get my mastery sign *just* before the original expiration, but like everyone else noted, Super Pumpkins were then taken off the market.
I just got the ever annoying “Farmville has been enhanced yada yada yada” notification, and when the game reloaded Super Pumpkins were available to purchase again.
So if you can get over your angst at the Pumpkins being taken out of the market, hop back over to your farms and get planting again! – FarmVill Freak Mark

Why can’t Farmville post a message like the one they put up when they are having loading issues, etc. to let people know, or maybe just have how long they are available listed right there in the market place. Since the super pumpkins were released, no one knew whether they would expire on February 2 (the original date that was stated) or the 29th or the 30th. They need to communicate better. It isn’t that difficult to post a date. They had vague promises of extending the deadline because some people couldn’t plant them, and no one even knew when the extension was. Then to tell people in the podcast that it would be the 30th at 11:59 p.m. PST and have them gone at 1:00 a.m. on the 30th is really ridiculous. I know a lot of people are very ticked off at Farmville because of this. Right now my news feed isn’t showing much Farmville activity at all. I think a lot of my neighbors aren’t playing right now.

But the question remains:
WHEN DO THEY REALLY, TRULY EXPIRE?!!!!
If they were hoping to get more $FV, they would have the little message, expires in 2 days, 6 hours etc. to whip up the frenzy to get people to spend cash. On the market here, there is no indication at all that the pumpkins are even a limited item.
And a quick question for you all here. If you plant a crop of superpumpkins at say, 11pm and harvest at 3am will the pumpkins count toward the total and get you the sign? Or do you have to HARVEST by midnight?
I’ll be about 200 short by then and will have to plant one last crop at the proverbial 11th hour. It will be a major bummer if I get the last crop planted and they don’t count for the sign.
Anyone know?

Doug you can plant them until the deadline and they will count towards the mastery. That is how long the seeds are available.

Mary, I totaly agree with you. They need to put like the TIME LEFT: __Days __Hrs. Like they did for the Forget-Me-Nots.I mean how hard is it to put a little yellow banner at the top of the screen saying the super pumpkins will exprie on _Month___ __Day___ 2010

I’m planting & harvesting RELIGIOUSLY! Seriously, I’m even using my harvester, tractor, and seeder (& all my free gas that I had saved up!) to get the job done.
I’m about 200 away from my second star, HOPING to be able to get the mastery!
I think they need to give us until the 2nd like they originally stated, whether it was a mistake or not!

Mark- They probably expire (go dead) 8 hours after you plant them.
I’m not gonna be the one to test it tho… That’s one crop less toward the sign lol.

They DO wither. Yet another inconsistency on behalf of Zynga. Super berries didn’t wither, so I assumed neither would Super Pumpkins — an assertion backed by the fact that my first round of super pumpkins didn’t wither and resulted in one single, giant pumpkin per plot. However, when I left them planted overnight that night, they withered! Took 430+ mastery points away from me.
I just can’t believe that Zynga would treat the people who pay their salaries this way. I’m not going to buy any more FarmCash until this crap is resolved and communicated to us clearly. It was a total mess, and once I saw the Mastery Sign I almost decided to give up, as it looks almost exactly like the regular pumpkin sign.
Just completely unbelievable.

I was harvesting my last crop of SP’s AFTER they took them off the market and I still got the “1+ Mastery” with each harvest and I got the sign. I think even after they take them away for good you can harvest them for mastery, you just can’t plant any more.

The Super Pumpkins do wither. After double the time they take to grow, so after 8 hours. I have just got the 1st star towards the Mastery, however it only takes me 4 harvests of my whole field to get a star. So, I might be able to get the Mastery in time. By the way, I have 336 plots of Plowed Land.

Ron, when did you get that email? I haven’t gotten any emails from zynga even though I signed up on the very first day.
I do hope they extend the SP period. If I plant my last field at 2:45 am EST I will still need 2 more harvests before I get the mastery. The first field i planted disappeared =(
I know that I still have over 50 fuel tanks from all the free fuel giveaways and gifts. I try to save them for when I really need them (like in the morning when I’m trying to hurry up and leave for school.) I have a feeling a lot of other people are doing the same. Maybe Zynga wants people to panic and blow through a lot of their fuel trying to cut down their harvest-plow-seed time to make the deadline and use up all that free fuel they have that way people will want to buy more fuel.

oh yea, did anyone else notice that the count on the progress bar isn’t accurate?
I have 516 plots now that I have rearranged some of my decorations and animals. I had 114 progress into the second star. After I harvested all but 5 of my plots it said I had 603. Then I harvested the last five and it still said I had 603. Even after I refreshed the page, left the game and signed back in, still 603. Not a huge deal, but when time is so limited…

This wholel Super Pump saga was highly disorganised. They kinda shoved it in just when the pigeon carrier came in as well as the new limited items. And we get a pop up saving its limited this and that put it with all these other pop ups..
… They really could of advertised the seed like all the other limited items with a Countdown. That would of fixed all this.

I had my farm available to the highest bidder (lol) but the for sale is down, just wish that Zynga could keep us in the OFFICIAL loop a little better. I know I wouldn’t have let last nights crop wither if I had known they would have counted toward the mastery after the seeds were pulled…. lost almost 500 but I’ll make it up today. GOD willing and the creek don’t rise. Let’s get the communication going so we are all on the same page Zynga.

I just KNEW they would extend the date after I spent the whole night waking up every 4 hours to harvest and plant em so that I could get the mastery still be able to do stuff today. well, I’m glad during those two hours I waited instead of planting something else.

Kind of annoying since I was ready to plant super pumpkins this morning but they were gone all of the sudden, so I planted rice. I really dont want to destroy the rice to plant super pumpkins but I do have to wait until it is ripe this evening before I can plant super pumpkins again

this is sad..people not going to sleep for a sign that looks just the same as the regular one?? what is the benefit?? if you can’t plant them after you get the sign..then you are not getting any extra xp for them! which is the whole idea behind the star system..to get more xp! so why ppl are so crazy about this? invest in something that will get you xp!!!!! like all the other crops that will not be taken away!

I’m happy that Zynga has broughten back Super Pumpkins but I don’t understand why they are not sticking to their orginal posting (via FV pop-up message) of FEB 2.
I know that there has been a whole bunch of issues with the system. But saying that they are going to have an “extension” after the issues on the release date….then saying on podcast that the ending date due to the pumpkin issues was going to be Sat. Jan 30th….then pumpkins disapear on the 29th…now it’s going to be the ending date of the 31st….
I have been messaging Zynga, Farmville Fan page since Friday night…asking them to stick to their orginal posting of FEB 2. Right now it’s just poor communitation and lack of honer on their orginal postings. I hope others are expressing themseleves to Zynga and FarmVille as well

Its just to have a mastery sign that no one else will be able to have, unless they did what we did. Knowing you stuck with it to get the extra pumpkin sign. For me, I don’t plant them after the mastery sign anyways. I just collect them. This is one more to add to my list. If you don’t care about this sign, or a faster way to your vegetable ribbon if you haven’t already gotten it, then don’t do it. Now I’m not gonna go all crazy “stay up 24 hours and set alarms” (no offense to those who do), but I personally want the sign. Thats just how I see it though.

If it’s anything like last night, so long as you have enough crops in the ground before the pumpkins are pulled from the market, you should be ok. Many people reported receiving the sign when they harvested their 5000th crop AFTER the pumpkins were pulled meaning you have to PLANT before the timer runs out. Harvesting can take place afterwards assuming things will work the same way tomorrow that they did last night. I’m thinking this is possible because the mastery counter is still active even though access to the crop has been removed.

I have completely torn my farm apart and put plots of these pumpkins WHEREVER there was an empty spot; If I am RELIGIOUS and harvest,plot,plant every 4 hours, I will be able to plant my last set right before the time—- Hopefully, once I harvest them, I can get the sign.

Yes as long as you plant before the deadline you will receive mastery points for the super pumpkins. I am waiting 1 more hour for my final harvest! Can’t Wait! Zynga probably won’t screw up on this one again. You can probably rest assured that they will be available until 9 p.m. PST January 31.

@Mary- that is totally what I did too! after I read this morning that the SPs were going away tonight (which I am SO glad they are not now!) I pushed all of my extra stuff to the sides and put building in storage. I went from 426 plots to 470. The only reason I am planting the pumpkins is for the mastery sign.

Clearly you need to A.) Not have a life, B.) Not sleep, C.) Not work, and D.) Not go to school in order to master these damn things. I do all of the above, so I ain’t getting these damn things mastered. That sucks. Wonder why they’d even let these be master-able, considering you won’t be able to plant them ever again for that extra XP point a mastered crop gives you.

Set a definitive deadline and stick to it, Zynga! I’m tired of this, thought it was going to be over last night & therefore gave up. I’ve no time to plant enough to get mastery now, and frankly, I’m too disgusted to care about the stupid sign. I’m going back to planting & mastering crops I can buy later to get additional XP, not being jerked around on Super Pumpkins, harvesting entire fields with fuel when I can stagger crops & keep it manageable by hand. Maybe if they weren’t so busy trying to create a dumbed down, super expensive version of Sim City, they could take the time to effectively and accurately communicate with their players.

This really isn’t fair! Zynga needs to honor the 2/2 deadline even if it was a typo. Makes me wonder if I can trust them anymore. I was told I got what I needed for my barn raisning and then never got that either. Afraid to buy farm cash. May not get what I paid for. Who knows!

Zynga have once again messed with our minds…
I’m not that sad about not getting the Mastery Sign though, seeming as it’s just the SAME as the Pumpkins Mastery Sign except it says “AMAZING! RARE Super Pumpkins Mastered!” which, apparently to some FarmVille freaks is worth losing sleep over. I don’t care, but I hope this makes more people want to master Pumpkins now!
Mastery Progress for Super Pumpkins:
1st Star – 1250 harvests
2nd Star – 1250 harvests
3rd Star – 2500 harvests

For the guy asking about why players go for the Mastery signs:
It’s just something specific to aim for; kind of like Merit Badges for scouts. Including SuperPumpkins I have 16 mastered crops and have all the signs lined up in front of my buildings. I’m a level-47 so there’s nothing left for me to unlock. My farm is a 24×24 (560 plantable tiles) with only functional buildings taking up space that could be used to plant. No decorations (except ones that fit along the edge or are stored in a barn) and animals and trees are lined up as effeciently as possible. I’ll try to have every crop with 24-hour cycles and higher mastered. All the 96- and 72-hour ones are done and I only have a few 48′s left.
I don’t recommend losing sleep or risking getting caught at work over ANY farmville crop, but it’s a fun “time-waster”.

if ppl compared the 2 signs they do look different. the regular pumpkin sign has a longer stem and is rounder and taller the super pumpkin has a shorter stem and is more oval shaped and fatter. so there is a slight difference in the 2 signs. unfortunally i will not have time to master the crop myself if they dissappear tonight. i wish they would honor what they originally said with feb 2 then i would master them but i will have to wait and see if their there tomorrow.

I’ll have my mastery sign in 4 hours.. It took me taking my farm from 298 tiles to 405 tiles and setting my alarm & getting up every 4 hours to get it.

I got my mastery sign right now.. well, dont sleep, dont have a life, and my farm is totally mess, haha, the barns are a full capacity.. the chickens are ready and not harvesting.. the trees have fruit.. the farmer has no home , because i put his home in storage, and plot in every space i can find. haha.
I have a new level, a ton of coins, the vegetable blue ribbon, the blue ribbon with the tractor, i wasted 30 tanks of fuel. 418 plots to plant..

i only got one start
, from the podcast I thought it would expire like 2 days ago, so I planted half of my land with melons, and now i could only use half of my land for them, and I still need 800 pumpkins for the second star, sigh, it should be till feb 2nd like they originally stated

hi guys…i just need to harvest 50 more super pumpkins so i can get the sign..but there still 40% and im on the last star..i just notice that the super pumpkins seeds are gone…if i still harvest mine will i get the sign even though the seeds are gone???

So far, all limited crops were harvestable after disappearing from the market. It should be the same for the super pumpkins. good luck!

harvested my last 100 super pumpkins with two minutes to spare!! WHEW!!! time to plant something else, I dont think i will be planting anything orange for a while!

fyi, there are farmville freaks who doesnt have our own pc or laptops…we just resort in pc rentals…i am planting super pumpkins and i recently fount out that they arent availble in the market already…how sadddening it is….
pls consider the population of farmville freaks who has limited acccess to the Net…
pls extend super pumpkins

I actually made it, and JUST made it……… got the mastery sign but really Zynga,.. this should be extended much longer since this whole super pumpkin release had so many issues of communication.

I just mised it by 5 seconds
I clicked on the Super Pumpkin and it disappeared on me – it was there
I had 300 plots left to get the sign
I think they took it away too early
I even woke up in the middle of the night for this
Hope Zinga changes their minds and brings it back for a little while

I got my mastery sign yesterday morning, but agree that they should extend the deadline to February 2nd. Alot of my friends are po’d that they missed out on mastery.
The original deadline was February 2nd. Then they changed it to January 30th. Then in typical Zynga fashion the server didn’t work for certain users. Again, another extention to January 31st. Make up your damn minds already. They should extend pumpkins for another week just because they can’t get crap straight on their end. Don’t tell people February 2nd and then change dates. It really makes things confusing.

Had het op 2 febr. pas geweest dat ze verdwenen was het ook mij gelukt om de 3 kruisjes vol te krijgen voor de beloning:(
Vandaag is het gewoon vreselijk . Ik kan niet op farmville Fasebook komen. Loopt gewoon vast.
Om van de laatste week nog aar niets te zeggen wat een gedoe zo hoor.
Heel jammer, vind het echt een pracht spel. Maar de lol gaat er zo wel vanaf voor mij.,

I have to say that it was painful for me to try to plant and harvest every four hours to get the super pumpkin mastery. My little laptop’s hamsters are running OT and it still was a slooooow process. And getting up in the middle of the night to harvest was rather tedious too! Almost ridiculous. But when I saw that the pumpkins were gone at 1am last night when I tried to plant them I was really ticked. I ripped the computer’s power cord out of the wall and went to bed. Now I’m not so sure I’m gonna try this again with any other ‘super’ FV crop.

UPSET!!!! I spent all weekend and a lot of real money for gas to get this mastery and they just cut it off, saying they are going to extend it for 24 hours wasn’t enough time for anyone….

I am terribly dissapointed in FV antics, esp about the S pumkins. Seems like FV loves being the bad child. I bet in true FV fashion, the parodicle child will relent and give S pumpkin another go at it. Ithink they need to go to Application Rehab! Email me and let me know when it happens…Joanne

I never post comments on blog sites but I’m so upset about this that I need to vent. Originally I wasn’t going to try for mastery of Super Pumpkins because I didn’t think I’d be able to finish it. Then when I saw (what I thought was) a deadline of Feb. 2, I calculated that I could achieve mastery after all and decided to go for it. After spending hours of time over the weekend and using up a bunch of fuel, I got home from work late last night to find that super pumpkins were no longer available in the FV market. I had already achieved Levels 1 & 2 of mastery and was almost through Level 3. If Zynga said they were extending the availability of the limited-time crop to account for technical glitches, but then they also posted CONFLICTING DATES for when that crop is going to end, at the very least they should have honored the LATEST date that got published. That way they wouldn’t have an angry mob of FV Freaks thinking they had a certain amount of time to get mastery, only to be cut off. The folks at Zynga really need to get their act together and make amends for their miscommunication by extending the Super Pumpkin Event for the additional two days that many people thought they had.

Why is it so important to gain a mastery over one specific crop while we can gain one over so many other crops?
