This looks very cool no doubt. . . but I’m sorry, this is not a farm. I thought Farmville was about FARMS. I guess I just do not get what all your get up here is supposed to be about????

AMAZING!!!!
Posted on February 12th, 2010 at 10:58 pm
That is Freakin Awesome!! But someone has wayyyyyyyy too much time on their Hands… LOL…
AS for the person that doesnt “get” it cause its sposed to be a “Farm”.. U fail to see the Art and Imagination it takes to build something like that, not to mention the Patience.. Who cares if its sposed to be a “FARM”

Wow. That is really creative! Great job! I am so interested in the comments of people above (Jennifer and Mr.Doni, in this case, but others on other posts on this site) who are critical because Farmville is “supposed to” be about farms. I mean, yes, the game is called “Farmville” but if you are creative enough to do something cool like this, I think it’s great. I like my farm to look like a “real farm” as well, if you wandered by it in real life you would want to come visit, and could. That is how I choose to play the game. But that’s the point: it’s a GAME, and if Farmer Andy chooses to create fence art, that’s great too. It is so interesting to see how people judge others….but I look at it the way I would look at religion. You may choose to be Catholic, but it doesn’t make your Islamic or Jewish neighbors WRONG, it just means they made a different choice than you, that may work for them. They may invite you over for a religious holiday celebration, and that’s very nice and neighborly. You don’t have to convert to enjoy it, do you? Same with Farmer Andy’s take on the game……

Incedible attention to detail!

Nicely said, Pafarmgirl.
And this is my FAVORITE farm thus far!
Amazing job, Farmer Andy.

thank you.

100 FV would be nice, tho I’m pretty sure I haven’t won anything…
…to Mr. Doni and Jennifer : you’re right, it’s not much of a typical farm – but then again, I’m not sure you can say what a farm is “supposed” to be like when you’re collecting ice cubes from penguins.

This is awesome! and to those who said that “it’s not a farm” blah blah, STFU. Andy’s farm is soo pretty and those people that says $hit about it not being a farm probably have ugly farms. I love farms with creative decorations and unique designs, unlike those who only has 90% crops and rest are trees/animals. BOR-ING. anyways, fantastic job on the farm Andy! =)

how do stack things on top of each other? please write a comment telling me how. thanks!

Andy, fantastic job mate! this is far superior to my ammiture walls and hills! Question – What would you say if i asked if you would mind if i were to attempt to copy (or take your design) and do something very similar to my farm? I just get super board with the “typical” farm, and dont like having TONS of lag creating animals to begin with. And just simply really like your design! If you want to keep your farm “unique” i will not do it, and totally understand, but if your ok with it i would like to give it a shot.
Thanks in advance, Rich

Fyi, people who say “this isn’t a farm!” what about real life crop art or mazes? It serves no purpose to the farm itself, but it is pretty and fun and appreciated by others.
I think this is awesome! Amazing work! I learned the ‘stacking’ thing on a basic level and can make a tower of hay, which looks cool on my simple farm, but this is fantastic!

thanks for posting my farm guys!
Posted on February 13th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
hey guys. thanks again.
Wendi : Technically, you can’t stack things. You can only create the illusion with certain objects (fence, hedges, haystacks, whatever your imagination wants to test). What’s really happening is that it’s being placed slightly behind and to either side of the object in front. Because of the angle of the game, it only looks like it’s on top. If you were to see an eagle-eye view of my farm – it would look like absolute chaotic non-sense.
It will take you a little trial and error to see what works best for you. One obstacle you will definetly face is that there will be points where things don’t, won’t, or can’t match up. My farm is full of these; I just hid them with trees and flowers. Plants are like band-aids.
Lastly (unless you’re wondering anything else) … Once you create the illusion that your farm is 3D… don’t forget, that means that the ground can be given the illusion of moving just the same.
The best way ( I think ) to attack it – is to walk away from your computer and just THINK of your idea of an awesome “farm.” (if you just sit there and tool around with fences and whatever you buy at the market – the objects in the game will most likely limit your imagination. Staring at that flat piece of land will only distract you from the fact that it can be whatever you want.)
….Once you have an idea, no matter what it looks like (within reason) you should be able to make something close to it. Or better? One thing you may want to make sure of before you start is that you have a butt-load of money, and whatever expensive items you think you may want. Make sure, because once you take up a ton of space making your creation – you won’t have enough room to grow enough crops to raise money as quickly as you need it.
Thanks again for the compliments. I just tore it all down and turned it back into a typical farm. Time to start the process all over again.
Hope that helps.
Rich : Be my guest man, do what you will. I’m sure it’s bound to turn out different – but if it doesn’t, I honestly don’t mind. I agree, typical farms are lame… they are a means to getting the means to make a cool farm. One thing I’ll add tho since you brought it up… the amount of fence I was using made mine lag a little. I don’t know if the fact that animals are animated creates more lag or not. But hundreds and hundreds of objects are going to slow you down either way. Best of luck.

this is the uggliest farm i ever seen and i mean it.

Spectacular work and patience Andy. You are also generous with your responses.
One of the things I like most about FarmVille is that each of us can play the game in the way we want. I don’t have the patience or skills for fence and hedge or hay bale art but I appreciate the efforts of others.

Wow, that’s so pretty!!! It is not just dedication, I couldn’t possibly create a farm like that no matter how much time i spend, it requires a lot of creativity and design skills. I like it better than the other farms with a message written on it, or even the ones with pictures drawn out of hale bales I like these farms which are decorated so pretty.
