FarmVille Changes How Mystery Gift & Mystery Eggs Work
FarmVille has changed how you open giftable Mystery Gifts and Eggs!
Now, you no longer have to place them on your farm to open them! They will open automatically from the Giftbox when you click the “use” button. The item inside the Mystery Gift or Mystery Egg is then put straight into the Giftbox.

I don’t like this, I prefer to open them when I feel like it and I like using them on my farm for different purposes before I decide to open them. NOt a good change as far as I am concerned..

Well, I really am just so tickled over that!!! NOW CHANGE the gifts to something worth bothering with it. I’ve had it with a million cow stools and such. Why not something useful. WHAT WAS their point of doubling your avatar??? I’m sick and tired of the same stuff in mystery eggs and mystery boxes and the free gifts.. Will THEY EVER change them??

Personally I think its a fab idea, as suffering from severe arthritis, I know how much of a pain it can be moving them out of the giftbox to open… much easier. Now all we have to do is move the item we get, much, much easier.

I liked the “poof” of the eggs and boxes…yah, it was a little time consuming but the “egg”citement of seeing if I got a cool new thing was fun…oh well…life goes on:)

Does anyone else notice or care thatthey seem to have taken the FV cash out of the mystery gifts? Neither I or my friends have gotton any in a week! Shame on you Farmville….This game is really getting to me…they really seem to be getting more and more greedy.

Now the mystery eggs have become MISERY EGGS.
Now they will just explode in my face like lit dynamite. This is going backwards: to the way they once worked which was unsatisfying. Oh woes, woes.

I think this is a wonderful idea the other way was too time consuming way too time consuming and I really really think that its silly for people to complain so much about a game and is free to play unless of course you do spend the farmcash but honestly I don’t understand why people have to complain so much and most of all about the littlest things such as changes in a game like I said I happen to think this was the best idea they came out with as I do have a real life outside of farmville and now I don’t have to spend sooo much time getting each mystery gift out of the box and then open them I love it =)

I for one am happy about this, saves time, especially when you get a million pop ups for other stuff. I for one would love to see some new gifts in the mystery boxes and under the gift thing. They are getting old, there are only so many cows, goats, sheep, etc that one wants to put on their farm.

How about using the same method for the mystery boxes as well? Definitely much more worth it, as they’re just single color. Whereas the eggs have so many colors that they can be use as a decoration as well, that’ll brighten up the farm.

The idea to open them at once is great but the execution of this idea sucks big time. I have over 1300 mystery gifts on my farm because I haven’t had the time to open them yet. And when I open them I do it 4, 5 or 6 at a time. Now they are opening one by one and with this stupid fireworks animation (nice for the first 2, 3 times but after that a big bore) it will take forever to empty my giftbox. This is a major time waster for me. I won’t be asking for mystery gifts anymore.

Gonna have to get rid of some collectibles I was saving in my gift box. Seems like this will limit how many things we can keep in the gift box. Was nice being able to put the eggs on the farm (and mystery boxes!) to keep room for other stuff…

I LOVE saving them and opening a whole batch together then clicking and getting a whole lot more and doing it all over again … booohooo … why are they not fixing all the issues rather than changing fun stuff ….

You still get the poof when you open them from your gift box. You just dont get the option to place the gift on your farm. Seriously folks, you’re gonna complain about not being able to place a box or an egg on your farm? *sigh*

I like the old way because I usually wait until I have about 50 of them before opening. Or if FV hasn’t put out new items for a while that come out of the mystery gifts, I hold onto them until they do. Then I open them. This way they have to stay in my gift box, which is a VERY limited capacity. FV should have given us the option which way we wanted. Or why didn’t they just make opening them ON YOUR FARM easier. Like one click and its open.

I think its a great change, it shows that people at Zynga are actually playing the game, or at least listening to the players. Yeah sure its nice to use eggs and boxes for decorating, but this change saves 2 mouse clicks for every item received.
Another welcome, recent change, using the tractors on the back edges is easier, you dont have to position the tractor exactly, if the front plot is not about to be harvested/plowed/seeded.
Hey Zynga if you are listening….
1) KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS!!!!!
2) Access Farmers Market/Bakery from the menu bar, or better yet Keyboard Shortcut!!!
FLash allows keyboard use, so their is no technical reason to not allow keyboard use. Imagine how much time we could save by pressing [H] [T] [S] [M] [F] [V] or [R] for Harvestor, Tractor, Seeder, Marketplace, Farmers Market, Move tool, or Recycle Tool. And also imagine the time savings if all the popup boxes can be answered with [enter] or [esc].

Louise, I haven’t been able to use XP’s from my gift box for awhile either=- game goes out of sync. Also can’t place barns from gift box to farm or game goes out of sync-

The fact that gifts have to be accepted within a certain time frame or you lose them makes this even worse. They are forcing us to open them for the same stuff over and over instead of letting us save them. Sucks.

I agree with #56 in everything he said…The mystery boxes now only have dumb items, why can’t we get trees,animals,houses,lakes…items you charge an arm and a leg for in FC…I play 40 plus hours a week and lately have been getting very bored with this spa…I enjoy planting, harvesting, designing my farm and laying out my land. Only anything to make it look great cost FC and not everyone has the cash for it. Why not work out a trade in items for something else. We buy something for 5000 FC and when we cannot use it any longer we sell it for 200 Coins…”NOT FAIR”, as they said , a lot of us are getting tired of trying so hard and not getting anywhere. Not sure how much longer I will play…

i too liked using my mystery boxes as decorations till i wanted to open them and yes would like better things in the boxes and the eggs…i hide the eggs on my farm and my grandkids like finding them with me..would be nice to have things in them that u can only get with farm ville cash..on fixed income can’t afford to buy fv cash with real money…need more room in the gift box also 200 is not enough….thank you

Now that Zynga has made it easier to open mystery boxes, the next step is to make it easier to receive mystery boxes. Currently to receive a gift, its necessary to go to Facebook.com. Each gift recieved requires three clicks and three complete screen loads. And dont forget to refresh farmville.com after, or you will get an Out of Sync error. What about allowing gift reciepts within Farmville.com? and doing it in away that doesnt require three complete screen reloads?
Receiving items from the Gamefeed could also be streamlined.

Awesome! You know, I like this. I don’t stack or decorate with my eggs and gift boxes so to me this is a real time saver. For those upset about this change, stuff happens. There are things that Zynga changes that I don’t like, but this is a free game we’re playing so just be grateful that you don’t have to pay a fee and roll with it.
Second, CAPSLOCKING EVERYTHING IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO POST MESSAGES! IN NETSPEAK IT IS LIKE USING A MEGAPHONE. IT IS UNNECESSARY, HARD TO READ, AND VERY RUDE!!!
Third thing: I’m also having troubles with my own game, but the best method is to still contact them about your glitches. It may take some time because there are so many people playing, but they will get to them. Already there have been many glitches that they have fixed, including most recently, the beekeeping problem.
In short, just have fun with what you have (again, a free game!) and work around the problems or contact Zynga if you have a glitch that makes playing impossible. If it’s no longer fun for you, then leave and start playing World of Warcraft.

Doesn’t matter with me. Most of the time the crap gets sold. They contain the same item for so long you get tired of it. The co-ops aren’t working – the free barns – windmills etc you get out of the eggs can not be place on the farm so you end up selling them. I’ve contacted Zynga about it – they say my browser needs to be updated an my flash player – EXCUSE me but I have all my stuff to update auto!! Then the smartest answer back was – they really didn’t know!! Well that is probably the most truth-fullness they’ve ever been!! Sure wish they would fix stuff and it’s beginning to irk me that I can rarely get any collectibles anymore! What’s with that??

this is another change for the hackers…everything you have seen in the last 2 or 3 weeks were changed so hackers couldn’t get anything for free anymore but if you are like me and was ahead of the game then you should by now have almost everything and over 20,000 FVC to spend…its funny that the charles hack been around since december but just a month ago it was like wildfire that killed it because someone had to open their mouth and ruin everything…you can say i cheat or whatever you want..the fact of the matter is i dont care…the game is free and my content is free and i am happy…i have everything and will have everything in the game for the next year to come…so dont thank me for this change…thank the ones who opened there mouths about charles and the mystery gift hack

I was just last night thinking that it would be GREAT if eggs and boxes worked this way. Some say “it takes longer”..I think ABOUT THE SAME.,by the time you dropped it and then later opened it. I would also like to say that tonight my wife opened a mystery gift and it was 25 FV$, so that is COOL. Thumbs up to Zynga for that…NOW FIX EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG.

Fine with the Mystery Gifts, not so much with the eggs (until the content is changed). I save the gold & higher for when I need Farmhands & Arborists rather than have them clutter my Gift Box.

I kinda prefer it this way. Yeah I enjoyed decorating with them because of the whole childish ha ha i have 20 golden eggs and you don’t mentality but for the most part when I get an egg I just want to get it open and over with. All I ever get are either farmhands, arborists or chickens I don’t need since that past glitch gave me 90 chickens in my coop. I got a windmill once and after two days of attempting to place it on my farm and getting an out of sync message every time I just gave up and sold it too. They definitely need to increase the odds of finding farmcash in eggs. That will get people playing more.

so mad this stinks i like them as decorations and the boxes i like to save until good stuff gets put in them what a crappy thing to do to us…..I wish we would have had some warning about this as i have several in my gift box and ones just gifted to me that i would have placed already but was not bothering and now cant use as decorations dang it…..i wish i had not opened the ones on my farm this weekend now i want a couple of the boxes as decorations as well as i like to leave the mafia wars one and such until i need the gas but dang this just stinks!!!!!!

I am ok with the eggs opening when you use them. The mystery boxes on the other hand…I like to store on my farm. I get tired of getting stools and hot air balloons (which shockingly get no coins if sold) until better prizes come along. I have not found any money in any of the mystery boxes this week either. New players get all the luck when it comes to fv cash in mystery boxes. My sister has got large amounts of farm cash during her first 3 weeks playing.

I don’t like it… I would like to keep them for a while.. There could be 2 options, [KEEP] or [USE/OPEN].. If you click [KEEP], it could ask you to let it remains in the Gift Box or place it on your farm.. And [USE/OPEN], would reveal it and put the reward in your gift box… Every player has different preferences, and there should be options..

Don’t like this, it slows down the game! and a lot of gamers use the mystery gift as decoration, so that’s gone too!
Zynga should first fix the problems they have, I haven’t been able to add neighbors since months now and still no solution!! Wish Zynga would fix all the old problems before changing other things in the game, unless the changes are useful, like more storage etc.

Delighted.I love opening the eggs i get. i dont get many eggs any more they are always gone too fast so it anoys me when i see someones farm full of unopened eggs.there not for decoration.

They did this because people were hacking into the game using the charles proxy and changing what is in the eggs and mystery gifts to items that cost farm cash. I did enjoy using the mystery eggs as decorations but I fully understand from a business point of view why Zynga would make this change.

If you guys dident know farmville hackers are reason for the change for it to work they needed Eggs or Mystery Gifts for the cheat to work instead of getting a Golden Chicken ETC they could choose any item even unreleased items like Red Cows And Red Horses for example now it does not matter how it worked but that is the reason

thats rubbish. some people like to display them on their farm or save them until the gifts have changed. its not fair for them to essentially make the choice for us whether we open it or not.

Why not give us a choice to open or place the egg on our farm? Many of us like to hoard the mystery eggs and boxes and other like to open right away. So why can’t the option be available to use, open or sell eggs and boxes?

Love it! Saves so much clicking! Bring back the FV cash in the mystery gifts! Real tired of stools, pinwheels, bikes, etc. People who are having problems with the game functioning properly should report it to Zynga Support instead of complaining here. My co-op farming wasn’t working – I reported it and it was fixed within one day. Thanks Zynga for all you do – it sure can’t be fun listening to everyone’s complaints all the time!

Just a bit more info on this… the main motive for this change is too combat hacking. The majority of hacks included the use of Mystery Gifts and this change appears to have put everyone back on a level playing field.

NOOOOO !!!!!! I do not like the new way of handling the mystery gifts and eggs!! On average, I receive anywhere between 40 and 80 mystery gifts or eggs a day and I used to stack them on the farm until I had time to open them (sometimes would go to farm 3 or 4 times a day and open a few). Now, they open as soon as you click on “use”. For my own information, I timed how long it took to do it the new way, versus the old way (I had some gifts stacked on farm) – I opened 50 gifts the old way and 35 gifts the new way – it took me almost twice as long to open the 35 gifts the new way as it did to do it the old way. With the old way, I could click on 5 gifts in quick succession and then hit cancel quickly on all 5. NOW, I have to wait for all the fireworks (more than before) to die down before it even opens – what a colossal pain in the butt it is. If it wasn’t for the gas and FV $ you get in the mystery gifts, and if I was interested in collecting just coins, then I would just request the most expesive free gift and cash them in and not go through the bother of opening the mystery gifts. I WISH ZYNGA WOULD BRING BACK THE OLD WAY !

And! whats the deal with the stable and nursery???? I have bought every horse available, got quite a few foals from others, but never, ever get anything outta my barns even with the wandering stallion!!!!!! How do others get their stallions and produce so many of the rare foals?????? I get xp or arborists or extra coins. Not happy about that! What is the secret??????

Dislike! I liked saving them and opening them at my leisure and all at once. It didn’t take up room in my gift box because I would accept them and then place them on my farm. What happened to Zynga’s statement just within the past 2 weeks that said they were going to fix issues before they would add anything new then the next day they added the garage and nothing but new things since?

I like it except for the time it takes for the stars to explode and then the gift. I could do it faster the old way. This freezes the game until the mini show is over. Otherwise. I love it. One less click. Now if I could just get my Avatar to quit escaping. The fence is holding but the hedge will not when it did in the past.

I do not like this new change for several reasons. Much the same reason other people don’t like it. People that think it’s “easier” apparently don’t recieve 30-50 mystery gifts a day. It’s easier to just place them on your farm and open them when you want. It “junks up you gift box too quickly and takes alot of time to wait for the boxes to open then “place” or “sell” your gift right away to make room for more. I recommend making the gift box “bigger” to hold ALOT more gifts if you are going to stay with this change. Like everyone else I got 100 cow stools and thousands of those spinny things. We need new gifts. I do wanna say I resent the comment(post) “CAROLVN” made insinuating that us who complain about “just a game” don’t have a life outside of FV..That was very rude!! I have 3 young children at home, a husband and I work.. I spend most of my free time on FV and I do put some pride in my farm. I don’t care how stupid that sounds. It’s my “hobbie” so to speak. So when I spend hours collecting building materials and my building dissapears and I have to start over, I get angry.I do not buy FV cash or coins but I would LOVE to but I won’t cause there are too many problems. zynga should concintrate more on spending time fixing things that don’t work properly and leave alone the things that work fine..Reguardless of how people like the way they work. Atleast it works.

Massimo, this change has NOT stopped the hackers (the hacking still works with this new system). So I guess Zynga did not achieve a thing (if that’s what they intended)!!! There will always be some way or another to hack!!!

This sucks. It slows down play to a standstill waiting for them to open. It should be my option as to when ~ I ~ want to open them, not when fv wants me to. They can no longer be used for decorations if they open when you touch them. I had MUCH rather open them at MY convienience. CHANGE IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS!!!!!!!!

**** this. its not even time saving, as u now only can open one by one. and i liked to clear my gift box of mystery eggs/gifts, to make proom for other stuff, and opening them when i felt like it/ i had time for it / new gifts had arrived (thus u can have many goes fot the new gifts immediately, not needing to wait for bein sent some to) i think ist lame, they should make us choose individually weather we want to open them immediately or place them onto the farm first, just like with the quick delete (btw i love that, finally something the really improved)

Now you’ve can open just “1 at a time”
what most people don’t know is that before
mastery gifts & eggs once placed on your farm.
Could be opened much faster because while the
first one opens you could start to open a 2nd and 3 one
and if your fast enough a 4th one.
Hope they change it back , this is-sent any progress in my opinion.

I preferred the option of saving the mystery gift boxes. I used them for decorations. And for those who think the new way is a time saver. Think again.
Old way, one click for gift window, one click to use, and one click to open.
New way, one click for gift window, one click to open, back to gift window, and one click to use.
Only real difference is we lost the option to use the unopened boxes for decor. Nothing gained.

this new way is good for new borns, not for people that really like farmville, cuse farmville is all about having your farm pretty in your way to like it, i like decorating it with all mystery eggs! please, if you want to make this, just put a new option: “definitions” with a lot OF things that would put farmville in my way, like: “Put your animals and decorations moving – ON / OFF” or ” put mystery eggs opening when you take them off gift box – ON / OFF”. If you really want to “sell” farmville, you have to do it for all the people, and i think that this is the way to do it

I really don’t like the new system, I think it actually takes longer b/c with the old system I could click on 3 or 4 gifts/eggs while waiting for the first one to open…now I have to wait for each one to open separatly

MOST TIMES I JUST SIT BACK AND ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES BUT I FELL I NEED TO SAY SOMETHING. THERE ARE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH FARMVILLE THAT NEEDS ATTENTION AND NEEDS IT FAST. WHY THE HELL ARE THEY GOING AND FIXING THINGS THAT WORK JUST FINE IN THE FIRST PLACE AND PUTTING WHAT NEEDS ATTENTION ON THE BACK BURNER. I CAN NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT WHY THEY DO NOT FIX WHAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LIKE OUT OF SYNC OR LOST CONNECTIONS THESE ARE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH GAME PLAY, BUT INSTEAD THE GO AND SCREW OFF BY DOING SOMETHING WITH MYSTERY BOXES AND EGGS AS IF THAT WILL FIX ALL THE PROBLEMS. I was 17 mystery gifts shy of making a pryamid of 1000 gifts when they did this.
At 1000 gifts I was going to submit a photo for farm of the week, then open all the gifts. I have been saving them and working on my pyramid for MONTHS! I had a contest with my friends – Who ever could guess closest, to how much the 1000 gifts were worth in coins – would win a Manor from me. Then this happened. I have let my crops wither and plan to keep my farm exactly as it is, leaving the pyramid to stand among the withred crops – canonizing the project. That’s it – I’m done with FV unless they revert back to letting us set them on the ground.

Don’t like – prefered it when I could decorate my farm with the eggs and mystery boxes and it happened the day after I’d opened most of the ones I had on my farm so now have none decorating the farm…….if they’d told us in advance they were gonna do this I’d've saved some of the boxes and eggs that I had on my farm and left them there.

I liked collecting them. Wanted to fill my last enlargement with them. Found out I can still take mystery gifts out of gift box and place on farm with iphone app……so no more eggs in a row, but mystery gifts are piling up again!!!!

I would like to see mystery gifts count toward the “They of Mystery” or just get rid of the ribbon opportunity. It appears its an outdated prize and discouraging for new players since they don’t even know what it was for.
