FarmVille & Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars To Plant Real Trees in FarmVille, Virginia!

FarmVille & Dreyer Team Up
To celebrate the upcoming promotion between Zynga’s FarmVille and Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars, FarmVille players (including FarmVille Freak!) will be planting real fruit trees in the appropriately named real town of FarmVille, Virginia!
In FarmVille, virtual farmers like yourself will be treated to growing Limited Edition Fruit Bar crops, but a handful of players will be leaving their virtual farms idle long enough to plant a real fruit orchard in FarmVille, Virginia. We think this is a great idea and such a wonderful way to give back to a deserving community. If not reason enough alone, this town (along with FarmVille, North Carolina) has to share their name with the insanely popular FarmVille. Can you imagine telling someone “I live in FarmVille.” without having to further explain “not the game, the real town.”
FarmVille Freak was lucky enough to be invited to this event by Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars and we can’t wait to tell you all about it and share our experience. This event was organized in partnership with Zynga and is part of Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars Communities Take Root program.

“FarmVille Fanatics Team Up With Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars to Plant Real Crops”
Players enjoy a taste of reality as they leave the virtual farm to plant a real fruit orchard
OAKLAND, Calif., May 23, 2011 – This summer, the Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars* brand is bringing a taste of real life to the online gaming world. On June 13, 2011, top players from Zynga’s wildly popular FarmVille game are packing their shovels and leaving their virtual farms behind as they head to rural Farmville, Virginia to plant an actual fruit orchard for the community.
The new orchard in Farmville, VA commemorates a branded integration between Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars and FarmVille. From June 13 to June 19, 2011, FarmVille players across the country will plant limited edition Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars branded crops within the FarmVille game, earning additional profitability and the opportunity to receive mastery recognition for planting, growing and selling the Fruit Bars crops.
A handful of lucky players have been selected to plant trees in real life, as well. Sharyn Martinez is among the FarmVille enthusiasts traveling to Farmville, VA to plant a fruit orchard with Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars. “Being from Los Angeles, I thought the only way I’d get to plant an orchard was on my beautiful virtual farm! But now, thanks to Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars and Zynga, I am getting ready to dig in and plant fruit trees in the real town of Farmville,” says Sharyn.
The planting in Farmville, VA is an example of Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars ongoing commitment to revitalizing one of our most precious resources: fruit trees. In 2010, Fruit Bars introduced Communities Take Root, an annual program dedicated to planting fruit tree orchards in deserving communities nationwide. Throughout the summer, Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars invites people across the United States to cast their vote to help twenty communities blossom, one orchard at a time.
“Dreyer’s/Edy’s is passionate about helping neighborhoods become greener, healthier and of course, sweeter. We’re thrilled to introduce Fruit Bars and the Communities Take Root program to Farmville’s passionate community, and to support FarmVille players in bring a thriving fruit orchard to the Farmville, VA community,” says Jia Li, Fruit Bars Associate Brand Manager.
To learn more about Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars and Communities Take Root, visit www.CommunitiesTakeRoot.com to read the inspiring nominations and cast your vote. The communities with the most votes will receive a fruit tree orchard, which will be planted in partnership with the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to planting fruit trees to support healthy nutrition worldwide.

Great. Another promotional event nowhere near where I live. I would plant a fruit tree where I live but so far we have gotten 2 inches of rain where I live…nothin that can really support a fruit tree. Blah.

I was only able to find the Coconut flavour today with the FV promotion. I really hope they’ve put this on some better flavours so people who dont like the coconut can participate.

yet again farmville ignore a large percentage of their players, this really isn’t fair on lots of loyal players

Being in the Continental USA I LIKE this promo. Not sure where I will place another orchard, but that can always be handled! We need new trees and this is one way of getting them – even if they really are the same types of fruit trees! I have Mastered somewhere around 2/3 of the numerous trees I grow and it’s getting rather boring.
So. . . . this is a good thing!

What a cool thing Dreyer’s/Edy’s is doing! I used to live about an hour from Farmville, VA. I am glad they will be a beneficiary of this international Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. Thank you Zynga for bringing attention to it.
I don’t care what’s in it for me as a FarmVille player as I know planting trees is so much bigger than myself. It’s about the COMMUNITY! Those of you criticizing because it’s a US only promotion, take a minute and look at the big picture. More trees are being planted! That alone will benefit all of us

Isnt Znyga an American company?
I would think most promos would be easier to set up with american companies.
