FarmVille English Countryside Quest 8: Ancient Methods

FarmVille Ancient Methods
In Quest 8 titled Ancient Methods, we continue to help Professor Milton learn the secrets of an old recipe. Since we will be following the recipe exactly, we’ll need to first collect its ingredients by growing some Hops and achieving the first level of mastery and then harvesting Barley on our farms. It’s no surprise since Hops and Barley are key ingredients in almost any brew, even the ancient Lionhead Ale! After all, as Professor Milton said, the best way to learn a new crop is to understand its roots!

This is just wonderful, I hope that this is a beginning practice, it would be wonderful to be able to earn FV’s once in a while.

I already mastered Hops, have 2 Dairy barns, have a storage cellar(limited one!) will those achievements count for the quests? What about the prices than? How slow do you have to go farming on the EC? Are we supposed to wait till Zynga finally comes up with their quests or can we decide our own speed of farming and take our own initiatives. Zynga you are not anticipating on your farmers!! How about a full inventory on my home farm with EC bushels, had to throw away a lot of usefull bushels on my home farm?

would love to be able to earn farmcash – i buy some once in awhile and it wouldn’t make me stop doing that, but at least i would feel that i was getting a little something back sometimes

I got stuck in my last quest as well, concerning the pub. The game froze at the time i just finished it by harvesting my 100 bluebells. Now nothing is showing anymore and no prize. It’s not FV’s fault imo that my game freezes, but i hope a next quest will appear at least. I like them and the prizes are very nice too, a real nice addition to the game that indeed ,as has been said before, gives you the idea you get something back.

i guess getting something free from fv is better then nothing, since we don’t earn anymore fv cash after levle 100. Not to thrilled about the quests though

First we have to Master Hops before we can even grow the Royal Hops, but that’s OK. I would rather know ahead of time what I need to plant though, as it can put me a day behind in planting a particular crop. This latest one was Red Currents and I had already planted Green Beans! The Red Currents only take 4 hours and I hope I don’t end up losing the crop because the planting timing wasn’t right!
I do like the slower pace of doing things though as it allows time to get in “supplies” as well as grow some capitol for new construction and farm improvements.
Want to see more of the purchase with coins items – and at reasonable amounts!

I don’t understand why people are constantly complaining about the quests. Before EC was released, Zynga said there were going to be quests. Just because no one can take their time and have to have everything on their farms right away, that’s Zynga’s fault? You may not like every reward that comes with the quests, but the only time no one complains it is because it is FV cash. Please, if you don’t like the decorations, sell them. If you don’t want two dairy barns, sell one. It’s not like the quests are timed – so if you have to wait a day to plant the required crop, why are you stressing about it?
At the end of the day, if you don’t like the quests, don’t do them. But don’t complain that you can’t get the rewards.
They offered us something new and different. I like working on my masteries as much as the next guy, but I think it was really nice of Zynga to bring something really new to Farmville.

DarkCyd, I completely agree. I am a little bit behind because I swore that I would not play FVEC until they gave us the pause option. and now I am ahead of some of my friends. In my opinion, these quests are as slow as you make them. Why plant a 4 hour crop if you know you won’t be able to harvest on time? Either leave it empty and wait for as long as you need or, if you prefer to have something growing at all times (which is understandable) then plant something that you will be able to harvest ASAP and plant the 4 hour crop after. These decorations that you receive from the quests are quite nice and in most cases, useful!
if you do not like them, sell them!
The other thing that is nice to see is the ability to sell extra items like torches and post cards that you needed for the quests, for coins. it can be a nice source of coins – however small it may be.
I don’t stress too much about my masteries really. but I love having the signs to show on my farm. They are so pretty, and they show your fellow neighbours your achievements!

I just finished the Ancient Methods quest and at the end of it, it said that I should just go help my friends along and didn’t give me the next quest. I see that this morning I have been moved on the map to the next building but there is still no quest button popping up. Is Farmville working on the next quest? Or is this abnormal? Anyone who has completed this quest, please tell me if you got the same thing.
