FarmVille Freak FAQ: Why are crops locked to original farm?
FAQ: Why are crops locked to original farm?
With tonight’s FarmVille updates, one unwanted change has FarmVille Freaks a little worried.
It seems as though each crop is locked to its original farm. In other words, English Countryside crops can only be grown in the English Countryside and other crops that originate from your Home Farm are locked to growing on your Home Farms.
Previously, after completing all the English Countryside quests, you were able to grow either crops on the farm of your choice. This is no longer the case after tonight’s updates. At this point, Zynga has confirmed that this is a bug and is not intentional nor permanent. They are also working on a fix.
Read the entire statement from FarmVille Community Manager, Grimwell below (Thank you to FarmVille Freak Dark Farmer for updating us with news.):
“Crops are Now Locked to Home Farm and English Countryside
Last Update: 7/19Description: After our most recent update, players can no longer benefit from the earned ability to plant crops on either farm. Home Farm crops are locked to the Home Farm and English Countryside crops are locked to the English Countryside.
Update: Greenhouse seeds are no longer visible while on the English Countryside. This is believed to be related to the same bug causing crops to lock and has been added to our investigation.
Status: This issue has been confirmed by the FarmVille development team and we are investigating the cause so we can work on a solution.
Workaround: Plant crops you still have available within this lock until the bug is resolved.”

Not a huge deal to me, now since i’ve mastered every crop. does put a little wrinkle since i was doing shorter harvest time crops on my home farm where i have a unwither ring, but thats about the only hassle.

I just planted strawberry’s in my English Countyside

Ridiculous ~ hopefully it is just a glitch. Some of the mastery signs and gifts in the gift box are locked to only one farm as well.

Mine are locked, and the sooner they switch it back, the better. It’s not a question of “seeming as though after completing” the quests, you could grow crops on either farm – this was the advertised result of completing the quests, and I’m sure many of us wouldn’t have wasted time on them for any other reason…

I was very disappointed to go on my English farm tonight and realize that I could not plant morning glories on my farm any more. I actually came over here to see if it was permanent. I hope not. I liked being able to plant on either farm whatever crops I had available. I had started a co-op this afternoon and was depending on being able to plant on either farm!

I thought after a certain quest was finished that was one of the gifts, to be able to plant all crops on either farm. That is what is has been, now it’s changed and everything is locked back to the certain crops for specific farm.
Wow, how unfair to change.

This isnt cool!!!!!!

Wow…I did see this tonight as i was trying to plant Melons on my England Farm…If this is the case that we cannot anymore, then i think Zynga may have finally turned the knife in me playing this game. Quests…i can tollerate…buying crops for 10FV to master…pushing it there, but locking everything down AFTER i’ve pretty much had free range on both farms…that will most likely be the last straw…oh well, i am sure another super game will be out shortly that will be as good or better than Farmville…

Well that sucks ! The reason we got the English farm is because we needed more room on the home farm and they couldn’t supply it any larger, so a “Second Farm” was their answer. Well, DUH! where are we supposed to put crops when the home farms are so overcrowed (Thus the need for #2 farm) We thought we could plant all the crop goals we needed to on the English Farm, no matter what the crop may be. So what is the big deal ZYGNA ! where they are grown ? Same with the limit of sheep and pigs, YOU have no limit as to how many trees we put on our home farm…so theanimal lovers are limited? Where are your heads?

My storage is also locked to the farm where I originally stored the items. Items are not transferable either. NOT a happy camper tonight.

Orchards too are blocked
(
Cant get a white one on my english farm…

Too many things are messed up on Farmville! Plus FB is moving slower then a snail! They always say they are working on something but nothing ever gets fixed! They need to hire someone who knows how to fix things!
Posted on July 19th, 2011 at 11:26 pm
what about the crops we already planted ???????????????????
Posted on July 19th, 2011 at 11:27 pm
Were greenhouse seeds ever available on the EC? I never was able to do them and assorted types of crops.
Posted on July 19th, 2011 at 11:28 pm
and what is going to be with the co-op? will the crops be counted if seeded/harvested on “not right” farm? Has anybody tried??
Posted on July 19th, 2011 at 11:30 pm
Gee, and I liked planting all the crops on both farms!! It figures it wasn’t intentional…BOOOOO
Posted on July 19th, 2011 at 11:33 pm
re-gifting has also been locked for days….Come on Zynga, you are a multibillion dollar company, either pay the programers and other it peps the money they deserve or I am sure there are people waiting in the wings that could do as well or as good a job. Really you have no excuse for all of these issues all of the time…shame on you!!!
Posted on July 19th, 2011 at 11:43 pm
I hope they get this fixed by tomorrow night. I have nothing to left to master on my English farm.
Posted on July 19th, 2011 at 11:50 pm
not only crops, but also some items are locked to ‘home’…Hope thhey’ll fix that soon…^^
Posted on July 19th, 2011 at 11:59 pm
I laugh at all you complainers. How horrible your life must be when you log onto facebook and you can’t plant melons on the EC or red currants on your home farm. LMAO get a life! It’s a bug, they’re fixing it. Most “normal” people can deal with that for a few days. If this is killing you, you need to take a hard look at yourself and re-arrange the priorities in your life.

Boo! I got up at 5 a.m. just to plant Spinach because I have to WORK all day and wanted to do my summer III project, and now cannot plant at all on the only farm that has room. This sucks!
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 12:35 am
I have finished my Village Quest a month ago, and was hoping as Zynga promoted to be able to switch items/ animals between farms… While I see it still promoted.. I have not been able to to do that which
I ‘m told I earned? Has anyone been able to switch items between farms?
Contacting Zynga .. and asking .. I get the proverbial cursory answer : We are sorry for your inconvenience and are working on it; however we have no date for this fix available.
Feel ripped! Along with all the other messups…

Yeah, I was a little surprised but it’s not a big deal. I do wonder now why I can’t regift anything. I’ve got stuff in my giftbox I have absolutely no use for and would much rather give them to somebody who can use them than sell them back.

Wow it’s like people don’t know how to read. It was already stated that this was a glitch and that they are working on it. Not the end of the world, calm down, go eat a snack, go for a walk and just so NO to farmville if it’s gonna upset you so. INTERVENTION heh

Greenhouse seeds NEVER had been visible when in England.
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 3:26 am
Per Zynga 2-3 weeks ago, the Electric Lilies are INTENTIONALLY locked to the Home Farm — an huge inconsistency.

My crops are locked too. First the greenhouse crops were locked to home farm, now all crops are locked to the original farm. Yesterday I seeded strawberries in the English farm for the 1 st quest and this morning I was going to seed spinach but I couldn’t.
I have mastered all the English crops and I wanted to take advantage of the double mastery event to seed the others in my English farm.
Just two minor hiccups, in my opinion.
The regift problem is bothering me. I had to sell about 30 building materials (ropes, tin sheets…) to clear my giftbox and I would rather have regifted them.
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 6:53 am
This SUCKS! I liked being able to use both farms for the same crop.
I want it back the way it was. We went throw the whole England Quest for that.
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 7:06 am
My chickpeas have been locked so I can’t complete the 3rd quest in that series. I don’t know if it’s because there is some level minimum needed to unlock it (in which case it was unfair to use it for a quest) or if it’s the usual FV bugginess.
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 7:59 am
fix it soon, can’t use my bushel for double mastery
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 9:16 am
Its not only crops but the storage barns are locked too.
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 9:39 am
i know this is off topic but was wondering if they have fixed the glitch with the star crop i paid my 10 fc and i got one planting then it glitched and i still cant plant it anymore without paying 10 more fc
is there anything i can do to be able to plant it again without having to pay again ? TYVM

With the supposed “going public” hoopla, I would have thought they would have been even more vigilant about bugs and getting things fixed. Stockholders don’t want to hear about crappy customer service and problems.
Anyway, hope they get it fixed soon. Not a huge problem, but I’ve moved all my crops to my home farm where I have an unwither ring. I can plant stuff and actually go to work without them being withered when I get back.
No pub crafting until this gets fixed since I can’t plant EC crops, so I’ll have to focus on home crop mastery for now.
MY EC is for displays and seasonal animals I don’t want to display, but don’t want to store because I’ll loose the coins when I harvest. No need to move things between farms until fall, so I’m good for a while.
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 12:21 pm
yes my seeds are also locked it started last night please fix this soon
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 12:37 pm
While they are fixing the crops,
It would be nice if I could empty my gift box. since there is a limit and eggs and other gifts wont open if box is to full.
Why can we open special delivery boxes even when box is full.
Should be that way for all things , 1 just replaces the other.
So please allow it to open.
Help!!
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 1:38 pm
I was upset until I read that it was just a temporary issue. No big deal things happen. I am sure they will fix it as soon as they can. Keep up the great work Farmville techs!
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 2:46 pm
Greenhouse seeds have never been visible when planting in EC – BUT – if you type them in the search window they are (were before this mess) available.
Other crops that have always been locked to home farm include chickpeas, as you had to complete mastery of soybeans first. For whatever reason, Zynga has decided that crops that needed to be unlocked by a previous mastery, are only available on the Home Farm. Examples, square melons, white roses, chickpeas, electric lilies, orange daisies, gladiolius, carnival squash.
Posted on July 20th, 2011 at 10:07 pm
Yep, crops locked to their specific farm. Well sort of.. While we hear they are busy coming up with a fix, there seems to be no problem with planting Crops that cost Farm Cash on either farm.
Been planting star crops on both farms for days.
Posted on July 22nd, 2011 at 11:43 pm
What is going on with receiving gifts? The last few days I’m not receiving gifts like I usually do, but getting plenty of help request. Open special delivery boxes and then go to my gift box and half of them are not there. What is the deal?

Cordialement.
