UPDATE (09/12/12): There are some technical issues with the Gem Tower that Zynga is aware of and working on a fix as mentioned in the yellow notice box above FarmVille which reads: “Howdy Farmers! We are aware of an issue that Farmers are experiencing with the Gem Tower and working on a fix for it. You don’t need to contact Customer Support to get help for this. Thanks for your patience while we resolve it. Happy Farming!”

Finally, the Gem Tower arrived in FarmVille this evening!  Note, it may be slowly rolling out, so look out for it on your farm sometime soon.

The Gem Tower is the feature that we’ve been waiting on that is used in conjunction with the Floating Castle feature. The Gem Tower is not just a building that can be kept on your farm, it also serves as the hub for a place to unlock exclusive Gem prizes.

You will be using the Gems you harvest in the Floating Castle and elsewhere to fill up your Gem Tower. Once you collect enough Gems, you can then redeem them for some exclusive prizes such as a Sapphire Unicorn, Amethyst Unicorn, Ice Diamond Tree, Emerald Sheep, Sapphire Fountain, and Gem Barn!

As you add Gems, your Gem Tower will change physical appearance as shown in the stages below.
