FarmVille Gifting Page is Down!

Everyone likes free gifts, but tonight in FarmVille free gifts are not possible because the Gifting Page is down! Additionally, you presently cannot send neighbor requests or FarmVille invitations to your friends.
By using the Gifting Page you can send free gifts to your FarmVille neighbors.
The announcement on Facebook also mentions that in the coming months gifts and neighbor requests will be sent via email addresses. In order to have access to features sent by email, you will need to sign up and allow FarmVillle access to your email address.
It is uknown what is causing the technical error or when it will be completely fixed by Zynga.

I hope this is temporary. I don’t want my email flooded with gift and neighbor requests and have to go back and forth between that and farmville. Doesn’t sound too interactive.

The notice said gifting and friend requests will be done via email starting February 23rd.

@Steve: No it didn’t. It said that IN THE COMING MONTHS, gifting requests etc. will be moved over to E-mail…
Meanwhile, maybe they’re down because they’re moving us all over to the new gifting page? Maybe?
Hopefully they’re changing what collectables, stable items etc. we can gift!

i cant do a damn thing on farmville.
cant harvest, plow, or plant without it saying refresh.
i got some collectibles and when i go to my farm it wasnt in my gift box!!

I wouldn’t like getting a ridiculous amount of e-mails. I really don’t think that would go over well with the community. It just seems so inconvenient.

Maybe this means I will be able to accept all of those gift requests on my facebook. Every time I click on a gift, instead of going to the accept screen, it goes straight to farmville and never acknowledges the gift. Add insult to injury, then that gift disappears from my request page.

@Andy – That’s happened to me lots of times, but never consistently. It’s always completely random, and it gets annoying.

What’s the point!? of getting them in our email..? It’s just dumb..were on Facebook! it would at least make sense if we got a msg. on Facebook…so every time we have to go into our hotmail…that’s just dumb…and esp. for something like gifts..you get those like all the time.. that’s just gonna be such spam! like every 5 mins..you’ll get soo many emails..I hope they don’t do this..it’s stupid!

I don’t want my email flooded with FarmVille gift notifications. I can’t imagine a more horrible way to try & play. I like the way it works now. I prefer to see them on Facebook, but, I can deal with seeing them on FarmVille.com just fine… just not in my email.

I do not like this idea i think people will end up not checking their emails overtime and not get their gifts. the free gifts process should stay the way it is.

yeah I noticed that the gifting page was messed up to begin with because the collectable and stable gifts NEVER changed.. when Farmville said they would be changing every 2 weeks or days.. so I was upset cuz I needed boards and need a needlepoint to finish a set so hope they are finally fixing it!!!

I hope that means you could do both way, if not that would be so annoying, and I signed up for facebook through my school email so I can join the network, i don’t want gaming stuff flood my main account email and keep me away from important emails. That sucks, if they do that , i won’t be able to play unless they let us at least use an alternative email.

The second I get a Farmville request in my inbox is the second I log into Facebook and delete Farmville.
It’s bad enough the game is leaning more and more torwards FV$ there is NO WAY in hell I’m gonna be flooded with FV e-mails.

Email is for work, school, and family…not farmville. The gathering of gifts and requests is just fine the way it is on my facebook page. I really hope this change doesn’t happen.

I suppose we can play without accepting gifts and I imagine we can block farmville on personal e-mail. It won’t be worth it to have to go to e-mail nor to have farmville gifts filling up email. I’ve never heard of such a thing!!

Adding my voice to the ones above. I have enough newsletters and notifications coming through in my email. With the number of gifts sent and received daily, the inbox will be FLOODED even more than it already is. And to those who might suggest using an alternative email address to play FV, what about those who naturally have 50 neighbours from their FB network of 400+ people? Not strangers. Genuine contacts.

There was a post on here a while back about a new layout for the gifting page, where it keeps track of how many gifts you sent out and how many you have left to send, and the total number being upped to 40 or something. I hope that’s what’s causing this downtime, and not the email crap. =/ Some people had already had that new layout, but none of my friends (or myself) did.
So… *crosses fingers* Not looking forward to email crap… I hardly get on Email as it is, it would be annoying to have to use it just for FV…

FV been acting up for the past few days. Unable to log on to FV for hours . When I am on it \keeps “saving farm ” and freezes. Other Zynga games seem to work fine.
Gifting via email would be stupid. Seems to me they are trying every possible way to get our email address. Question is why?.

Its not just FarmVille that is moving everything to emails…
Haven’t you noticed in all of your apps its asking you to share your email now at the top of the page? The little power bars at the top promising you to be a great player if you complete? and the last step is giving your email usually?
Facebook has given them a certain amount of time to make these changes …..
ALL APPS will be in emails.
Its part of the new changes that are taking affect(effect?) affect lol
Facebook changing it’s layout is only the beginning of many other changes to come.

It says “Application-to-user and user-to-user notifications will be removed, and instead developers will use stream, Inbox, and Email. ”

p.s. actually I kinda cant wait ….the stupid gift request quota only being 100 puts a big damper on things and can have you trying to clear it out all day – if its in my email I can leave it there and get to it when i have the time … I dont HAVE to come and empty it just to make sure i am getting all the requests and making sure that facebook hasn’t hidden any on ya

This email thing is not Farmville’s fault. Facebook has had pop-ups and messages when you log in for a while now saying that soon, no applications will be able to send you notifications on Facebook, so you’ll need to give them your email if you want to continue to get notifications from the apps. I don’t like it any more than anyone else does, but the blame lies with Facebook, not Farmville.

ok, so how do I change my email so these notifications don’t come thru my main account but some random, just-for-FV one that I open? not that I will use it all that often, as I am sure the number of neighbors playing FV will decrease if this becomes a major PITA.
why not just change the FV.com site to do all this stuff on? It’s not like Zynga doesn’t have the $$ to do so now that sooo much stuff on FV costs real $$

I think it will be a bigger mess than the FB gifting page, I have a lot of friends and I get over 100 gifts daily and I havent been able to clean my FB gift box out in weeks I can only imagine what my e-mail will look like., and I dont want all this mess in my e-mail, I dont think i will be signing up for the gifting and freinds through e-amil.

i cannot accept gifts if they are sent to the e-mails. my e mail address has changed ad the e-mail address i used to set up farmville, has been cancelled, so i will not be able to get to my e-mails

Uhh dude? This doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s changing to strictly e-mail right now. In a previous post a new gift page layout was mentioned.

I won’t accept gifts any longer if we have to do them by email already had my computer crash once from farmville won’t allow my personal email used for gifting when I get to many important family and friends emails. It’d flood it and not crazy about why it’d be done this way. Me smells a rat. What is up with all the games asking for email now is facebook getting a little to personal?
Read on a gaming forum my son goes on and it said farmville over loaded with all the aps it had and they had to downsize to get a hold on the game.
Also see the mystery box is gone wonder how one would get a ribbon if they don’t have it or are they getting rid of that ribbon?.
