FarmVille July 23, 2010 Official Podcast
This week’s Official FarmVille Podcast for July 23rd 2010 is live! FarmVille’s Community Manager, Lexilicious, is this week’s host.
While this week’s Podcast mostly covers a summary of the tutorial on Crafting Buildings and how they work, some more exciting news from the Podcast reveals that FarmVille will be making an effort to concentrate on technical issues and bugs, instead of releasing enormous amounts of new content. Many disgruntled farmers will be happy to hear this news considering that oftentimes new content overshadows the annoying bugs and errors that slow down our farming.
You can listen to the Podcast by playing the video above, read the FarmVille Freak Summary below, or read the entire official transcript provided by Zynga at the bottom of the post.

FarmVille Podcast – July 23rd:
Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the Official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news about FarmVille from Zynga. This week’s podcast will be slightly different from others we have had in the past. As I am sure some of you know, the new Crafting feature was released this week… and it’s a big one. We will be spending most of this week’s podcast walking through this new feature which will provide some helpful tips for users who already have access to it, and it will give people who don’t have the Crafting feature a heads up as to what to expect when it reaches them. In addition to this, I will be giving you guys a very brief sneak peek as to what will be coming to FarmVille in the near future.
Now, I have seen a lot of questions from players lately asking why some users have the Crafting Buildings and others don’t. Please be aware that this feature is being rolled out gradually to all of our users to ensure the stability of the app and to make sure it is working as intended. I know it can be frustrating to have to wait for a big release, but please know we would not choose to release the feature this way if we did not feel it was important to do so.
And on that note, let’s get into a quick walk through of FarmVille’s latest release.
If you are level 25 and above, you will be able to turn your bushels into crafted goods with the new Crafting Buildings.
Once you have access to this feature, upon logging into FarmVille, you will see a tutorial. This tutorial explains the basic functionality of this release. I want to highly suggest that all of our players take the time to participate in this tutorial so you can better understand how Crafting works.
Once you have read the information, it’s to pick your profession. There are three types of Crafting Buildings available; The Winery, Bakery and Spa. Each building features its own unique set of recipes you can use to create crafted goods.
If you did not pick a profession when the Crafting Buildings preview was released, you will see a different pop-up than users who have. This pop-up shows you how many of your friends have selected each type of building. Clicking “What is this” will give you more detailed information on each of the buildings. Once you have decided on your profession, clicking “Yes, Place” will close the pop-up and let you place your new building on your Farm for free.
If you already selected a profession in the Crafting Buildings preview, you will receive a different pop-up. If you are happy with your initial selection, simply click “yes, place”. If you would like to choose a different profession at this time, click “choose another”. This will bring you to the menu mentioned above where you can select the building of your choice.
Your Buildings Recipe menu will automatically appear once you have placed your building.
In this menu, you will start with a good that is 1 minute from completion. You will also see one empty crafting spot.
Clicking on “Make a good” will bring you to your recipes menu. Here, you will be able to make your first crafted good. Depending on what profession you have selected, your default recipe will be different. Click “Make it” from the bottom of the menu to create your good. Remember, to make recipes, you need to collect bushels from your friends. These bushels are the key ingredients for your goods. If you would like more information on obtaining Bushels, please visit the Official FarmVille forums for a guide on the Farmers Market feature.
Once you have made your good, it needs time to cook. Click on “Make Goods” to return to the main menu. Once you have done this, you will see that the level 10 good you started with is now complete.
Clicking on “goods I am selling” from the crafting menu will show you the goods you currently have for sale. Selling goods improves existing recipes and unlocks new ones! Each time you sell a good to your Neighbors, you will receive 1 recipe experience point. One important thing to know is that selling your goods is the easiest and most efficient way to level your recipes.
Down the bottom of this menu is your “Sales Report”. This report shows you what goods you have sold and how many were purchased. If Neighbors purchased from your store while you were away, a bouncing arrow will appear over your building. All farmers earn 90% of the sale price of items sold. The Daily Sales Report will display the amount of total coins and experience earned in your absence.
Now, if you wish to make a thriving business, you will need to level your Building. The level of your Building determines the number of crafting spots you have available for use. Leveling your building will also unlock new recipes. You can level your Building with Farm Cash by clicking the “Cash Upgrade” option or you can level with coins by unlocking the option. To unlock the coin option, you have to level a certain amount of recipes. Now, leveling a recipe is quite simple. Each time you make a recipe, it will count towards your level progress. Simply keep making goods of that type to level your recipe up. The higher level your recipe is, the better your crafted goods will be. There is no limit on how high you can level your recipes.
Currently, your Crafting Building can only be upgraded to 5 Stars. Once you have a 5 star Building, the buttons to level with coins/cash will disappear.
In addition to selling your crafted goods to your friends, they can also be traded for rewards. To access goods that you have in your inventory, click “Use” from the crafting menu and select “Goods”.This menu will display how many crafted goods are in your possession. Please note that you can only have 200 Crafted Goods in your inventory at a time.
If you click the “use” button underneath a good, you will trade it for fuel. The higher the level of the crafted good you use, the more fuel you will get. You can see your fuel gauge increase within the inventory menu. Please know that in the future, there will be additional rewards for trading crafted goods besides fuel, so make sure you work on leveling your recipes before they make an appearance!Alright, now that you know how to use your own crafted goods, it’s time to move on to purchasing goods and bushels from your friends. There are two different ways you can visit your Neighbors Buildings.
From the Crafting menu, click “Buy”. You will then see the option to select “Shop for Goods” or “Shop for Bushels”.
From this menu, you can select the type of good you would like to purchase. Clicking “select” underneath a good will bring up another menu that will automatically display the highest level goods for sale first.
Alternatively, when visiting a friends Farm, simply click on their crafting building to open the menus mentioned above.
Upon purchasing an item from your Neighbor’s store, you will receive a pop-up allowing you to post a feed to their wall informing them of your actions. The first 3 Neighbors to click this feed within 24 hours will receive 1 good of the same type as the one you purchased.
Remember, Goods purchased from your Neighbors can also be traded for fuel, so make sure to visit their shops often.
And if for some reason you wish to delete your Crafting Building, all progress on the level of the Building and recipes will be saved. However, you will lose all goods that are being sold in your store. If you wish to purchase a new Crafting Building, it can be purchased from the “Buildings” section of the Market for 100,000 coins, provided you do not have any other Crafting Buildings on your farm at the time. If you wish to purchase the two additional Buildings, they can be bought for 80 Farm Cash apiece. This ability to purchase a different building for coins is very important, as you can change your profession later on if you do not like the building you currently have.
If you are looking for a more detailed guide on how this new release works, it can be found in the “game updates” section of the FarmVille Forums. And as with all of our big features, we want to hear your feedback. If you have any thoughts or opinions you would like to share with us about the new Crafting Buildings feature, please make sure to visit the Official FarmVille forums or www.famville.com.
Now this week’s coming soon segment is going to be much smaller than normal Farmers. Over the past few months, we have been hearing tons of feedback from you guys expressing that we release a smaller amount of content and focus more on fixing bugs. Well, we’ve heard you. The FarmVille team just released an enormous feature, and we want to give you a chance to absorb Crafting Buildings before throwing more big stuff at you. Right now, let us clean up the experience for a bit and we will have more great content for you soon.
However, I am happy to let you know that over the coming weeks, we will continue to release more stuff from the New England theme to help you finish decorating those Farms, including great items like the Miniature Horse, New England Mansion, a coastal beach and more.
Alright folks, that’s it from me this week. Again, my name is Lexi and I would like to thank everyone for listening. I will back next week to bring you all of the latest news from around the Farm. Happy Farming everyone!”

What a boring podcast!
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:01 pm
summary of the podcast Please ^_^
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:02 pm
very boring, dont have to be a genius to work crafting out why a whole podcast dedicated to it, especially when most of us dont have it.
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:03 pm
she just explained to us what we alreay knew about how the cottages work nothing new …….. waste of time
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:03 pm
I don’t even have crafting yet…I’m so confused
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:07 pm
I hope they won’t throw us another theme! tired collecting it but I’m a shoppoholic…LOL
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:09 pm
I am so getting the Miniature horse!!!!!! Wonder if it will be breedable. Hope my new Black Stallion won’t hurt it. LOL!
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:11 pm
boorrrrrrrriiiiinnnnnngggggg !!!!!!!! The new crafting feature sucks – another hunk of crap you have to level up, as if it wasn’t bad enough trying to get the XP points at the higher levels – I think I will GIVE THIS FEATURE A PASS – I am not going to be doing it – I get more gas from neighbours and mystery gifts than I will ever earn through this piece of junk – and that was one person’t opinion ….. I am sure there will be all kinds of rebuttals and vitriol directed towards me now lol ……
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:13 pm
thats nice.. if I ever got my crafting building
My farm has such severe lag issues it’s SO RIDICULOUS!!! And I don’t have the cluttered farm with enormous amounts of decor, just plots, log cabin, and trees.
Come on – just fix the lagging issues and I’ll be fine without any freaking new themes!!!!
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:15 pm
I haven’t even gotten crafting cottages in either of my 2 farms. As far as I can see, you currently only get extra fuel for selling items. If that’s it, I can pass on this. I’ve got nearly 4000 in fuel right now and really don’t need any more.
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:22 pm
still dont have the crafting feature!!!
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:24 pm
So everyone has been complaining about the bugs and how there are too many new things coming out….and now they are finally going to address it and not put out a whole lot of new items…how long do you think it will be until people start complaining about no new items? i give it 2 hours.
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:30 pm
This is the best podcast ever! They listened to us! GOOD FOR YOU ZYNGA!!!
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 8:45 pm
boring
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 9:06 pm
I think once you buy a mystery gift and you get an item it should be in your market for coins and there should be no chance of the item you pay farm cash for being repeated if you want more just goto your market and buy them =) I know this has nothing to do with the podcast but Ive felt this way for a while since I got 2 oxes =( and no pea****
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 9:07 pm
soo im level 92 and havent gotten my cottage yet. but yet it says in the podcast that every1 over 25 will get it.
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 9:08 pm
did it really just sensor pea****?
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 9:21 pm
It wasn’t THAT bad of a podcast. Yes, most of us don’t have the cottages yet, but for those who intend to use them, this was good information to have before. Hopefully making it easier to understand once they arrive on the rest of the farms. I’m still undecided as to whether or not I’m going to do this as the bees have been a complete waist of time clicking accepting them all for what? 600 coins a day??
It’s nice to know ZYNGA is actually listening to it’s players and are going to at least make an effort to clean up the bugs we deal with now before adding more features and even more bugs on top of what we have now!! The jury is till out as to whether or not they really follow through with this promise! After all they make a lot of money from these new themes and items they keep adding!
Peace out!
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 9:46 pm
wen i get my crafting cottage i ll be happy i dont care about themes only because i can’t afford any of the farm cash items and even if i could i dont have enough spacecos i only have a 22 by 22 farm cos i dont have enough neighbors
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 9:51 pm
I wish that you could go to the market and trade in coins for cash because its hard to get cash i no this has not a thing to do with the podcast, but does anyone agree with me?
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 10:03 pm
Funny how they avoid saying anything about people still not having the organic blueberrys available for planting in the market UP TO THE SECOND I’M WRITING THIS!!! SHAME ON YOU; ZYNGA!!!
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 10:09 pm
I down loaded your new tool bar but never got my FC reward
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 11:21 pm
babies grow up stop complaining if you dont like it, quit.
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 11:52 pm
Kinda bummed they will slow down the content releases but theres a good reason for it so no complaints here. there are soo many bugs that need to be fixed
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 11:53 pm
@murx: any chance that you are not in the u.s? because they said the organic blueberries were only available to the u.s. players and if people outside of the u.s. got them then it was just a glitch
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 at 11:56 pm
its on time ah…gr8 but it contains only one good info that s that they hav atleast decided to stop releasing junk b4 cleaning the garbage
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 12:37 am
pea****!!
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 1:02 am
For those who keep complaining about the blueberries what country are you in cause they are not accessible to people outside of the US/Canada , I believe thats because it is a product advertisement, which is only sold in those countries. Just waiting for the crafting cottages, but got to agree about the bees.
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 1:03 am
Murx – I don’t know where you live but a neighbour gave me a tip to get blueberries which either worked or was a co-incidence! I changed my language to US English & my current location to Los Angeles, then next morning I had blueberries.
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 2:39 am
why they released such a podcast. nothing new.. no info
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 3:12 am
um i no this is of topic but 4 those who live in the uk u can now buy farmville gift cards in sainsburys HMV and wh smiths. So quit moaning about farm cash oh u can also use zong its at the bottom of the buy more coins page it tks the money of ur mob phone bill
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 3:46 am
they should better go on giving people their crafting building instead of wasting time making a podcast . we have 4 farms and not 1 crafting building after 5 days.
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 5:38 am
What about plowing, planting and harvesting crops.
This is farmville, not townville,
Oh they have a townville …YO-ville.
They have a restaurant … cafeville.
Lets get back to farming.
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 5:57 am
What the hell is this,we need the Updates..every week and not one in a month!!!!!! please bring not so much as the same time, thats bull****
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 6:00 am
does everyone have the organic blueberry’s cause i still dont have them
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 9:13 am
Can someone please confirm if organic blueberries are only for US as i recall FVR in their update saying it was for all players….unless there was an update I missed! Maybe if someone can tell me for certain if it is just for US then I won’t keep going on about it…..It seems if it is a glitch it’s a very klarge one as lots and lots of ppl in diffrenet countries are getting to plant it…you just have to read some of the comments on FVF relevant page.
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 9:14 am
Yay!! I can’t wait for all the bugs to get fixed! My game is having a lot of problems:( Thanks ZYNGA!
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 11:40 am
@Joshua Almansa: You know where you can shove up your arrogant comments!!! Hint: Yes, the sun isn’t shining there.
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 1:52 pm
I have a question about the crafting cottages. I got the pop-up that asked me which profession I wanted. I picked the winery and it gave me a GIANT GNOME! It didn’t say anything about a free cottage, was this a glitch?
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
I’m still waiting for the organic blueberry’s, let alone crafting villages
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 4:50 pm
What’s the point of producing more coins etc when everytime I refresh they disappear! Zynga can’t seem to get it fxed and this was before crafting cottages. Frustration certainly keeps a person from getting excited about a new feature.
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 6:07 pm
@ Rainy,
No, this is not a glitch. You just reached level 25 and will get the gnome of your choice unless FarmVille does a “refresh and loses your gnome. Once FarmVille gets their act together and makes Crafting Cottages available to you and everyone else you will be given one last chance to select your bakery, winery or spa or change to another. Once you have made your final choice you will be given the cottage to place on your farm. Of course if you have no room then delete some plots then place the cottage. Some people got upset that they lost their cottage after deleting their plots to make room for the cottage. What a total newbie. Check your gift box. The cottage of your choice will be there. Just so you know I have a friend who is at level 26 and he got his winery. I have another friend at level 35 who has not been given the chance of selecting his final cottage. In other words in my group of 40+ friends (who are at level 25 or above) only one one us has a crafting cottage.
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 7:12 pm
im on level 31, but i still dont have the access to crafting buildings
waiting…
Posted on July 24th, 2010 at 9:01 pm
I love Farmville, but, it is irritating when it won’t hardly work at all. It is also irritating waiting for them to put things out that we can buy with coins. I am unemployed now and I can’t spend on Farmville. They need to fix more things we can buy with coins and they need to hurry and put the garage out like they said they would so we can put tractors in it. I know a lot of people have left farmville because of it.
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 12:13 am
Poor ZYNGA..No matter “what” they/yall do, it’s damned it you do, and damned it you dont! I swear, must not be many ppl who play the game with “any” knowledge of applications and programming.. To have a game as “big” as this one with zillions of users, and to have it as live as this game is, and keep adding stuff to keep us interested.. Seems like no matter WHAT THE FREAK they/yall do, SOMEONE is gonna complain!
Good job Zynga on releasing the Crafting Cottages “slowly to work out glitches”..TYVM (now, when do I get mine ) lol
I think as a person with some programming background you guys do a GREAT job for a game of “this” magnitude.. Keep up the good work! Those of us who “love” the game, and have “any” understanding get what it’s is all about..
Some ppl just are not happy unless they are “bitching about something”..
Now, can I get my “Spa” some time soon?? lol JK..
Thanks for the crafting cottages, and thank you for being “kind” enough to explain the crafting for those who may not understand. PPL tend to forget that this game has a huge “diversity” of players…sometimes the young person, or older person need a lil’ help with understanding… Shows you are listening to concerns when you give a lil’ more detail for such users. I lived “without” the game for a bunch o years, and I think giving you guys a break to help “those in need” really isn’t gonna hurt me so very much. Shows me the “money” I spend is FINALLY being used to benefit someone other than “Zynga”.. … Compassion is good!
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 12:44 am
Ohh dear… I’m level 86 and no Crafting buildings.. And NO BLUEBERRIES in my market yet. NEVER SAW THEM.. All my friends mastered it. aww And I must say I never saw those free cash ads. If its gonna take too long to sort things out for me, I think I might hate FV.
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 1:46 am
I’m glad the ‘bugs’ are going to be worked on. Selfishly, I do wish Underground Storage had been added before bugs fixed. But, then, I’ve been singing the Underground Storage song for quite a while. Guess I’ll just hummmmm along for a while.
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 2:27 am
where,can i get a crafting building?
or when?
or why can”t i have one?
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 2:32 am
i”m almost level 75 and didn”t have acces of crafting, there are friends of mine at a lower level and they already work on”em! So please, what do i have to do to get one?
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 2:49 am
ahem, WHAT’S HAPPENED TO GARDEN SHED EXPANSION is what i’d like to know. they can’t just forget they ever brought it out! or forget they used to have an upgrade promise for it! and…anyone know what’s happened to the zynga message center? and the ‘friends activity, my activity’ tabs on farmville.com next to the ‘game feed’ tab?
great news about new release items and glitch-fixing…although i got some great perks happening from alot of those glitches!
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 10:54 am
I really think that they should have released the crafting cottages to the highest level people first. Or, they could have done it by how long you’ve been playing the game. What sucks is that I have some neighbors who do pretty much nothing with their farm who have gotten their cottage. Well, I’ll just have to learn some patience and wait on mine.
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 3:29 pm
Hey
I haven’t got my cottage yet. But my biggest problem is that is being really difficult loading farmville. It’s so slow.
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 5:58 pm
Eu a alguns mêses recebi a proposta de escolher um dos 3 gnomos e escolhi o de vinho, e agora, mesmo depois de liberado, não recebi minha vinicultura! :’(
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 8:14 pm
I’m never satisfied with FarmVille performance. I run multiple farms (about 4-5) and the Adobe Flash really taxes my 16 GB or DDR3 RAM.
The bug/glitch that bothers me the most is when I find a wandering stallion or bull or even find a rare item for my collection and the pop to post the feed appears, but something happens. I get the dreaded FarmVille has been enhanced message or the pop to the feed times out and freezes. Upon browser refresh my wandering stallion/bull and rare gems are no longer there. One would think that the people at Zynga are smart enough to keep track of all activities on a person’s farm. If a bull or stallion appears and the user has not had a chance to respond it should offer the user the choice again. But then, that would be too easy. As for harvesting or planting a crop all at once. I no longer do that since my farm is quite large now. I only do 50 plots at a time. Very tedious. I hate micromanagement. But hey at least I’m not paying anything for FarmVille’s poor performance….I never did get my lost pieces of my nursery barn. That’s 45 pieces i will never get back.
I have also noticed that when I come across a rare gem that I can post the feed as normal, but then sometimes it does something weird…it acts like I’m sending the gem as a gift to my friends. Now, this is not a problem if I have not sent my friends anything within 4 hours, but for some reason when I was working on my farm I came across multiple stones..green, red, diamond and well if I had “sent” a ruby to my friends I am not able to send a diamond to my friends a few minutes later. So essentially I lost the chance to share this diamond. It would not let me post as a normal feed. I have become quite sick of these gems. Initially I thought I only needed 1 of each kind, but after looking at the collection stats…some require only 3 while others need 10…lol.
Posted on July 25th, 2010 at 10:14 pm
First off, I don’t have my crafting cottage…secondly, I don’t think I want it. Could those IDIOTS at Zynga have made this any more difficult or harder to understand? I swear they live in their own little world.
Posted on July 26th, 2010 at 12:09 am
I understood your original plan to release a little at a time. But know all you’ve done is manage to PISS OFF a lot of your really good players. I’ve got friend that didn’t even sign up for the dam thing and has a cottage at level 29??? At least 10 players in low 30 that are still learning and you expect them to tell or help us with what’s going on??, right….??? I’m at level 82 and my husband is 55 we signed up for cottages the day it hit the screen and was really looking forward to it. Who or however your selections were done is BULL****. I’m tired of waiting, if you can’t get it out to everyone then you shouldn’t have don’t it at all. Discussed and ready to give up on Farmville……………..
Posted on July 26th, 2010 at 4:29 am
Love Farmville! I did plant Organic Blueberries (I’m in the UK) but they are no longer available. They were great too 4 hours and 2 XP. I am a little frustrated that the cool stuff like these crops and the 7/11 items were exclusively US though, what about the millions of us outside the USA aren’t we contributing to the success and pockets of the developers too?
Oh yeah and I still don’t have my crafting building either and most of my neighbour’s do so they are stealing a march on me. Am stockpiling bushels but am feeling very left behind
Posted on July 26th, 2010 at 4:40 am
on an unrelated note, i think that the mystery game is just a cash-wrangling joke. how is it better than the mystery box? they just wanted an excuse to put the price up, and knew they couldn’t get away with raising the mystery box price.

The problem with the crafting is getting sufficient quantities of ingredients. Whe I planted some of them (having already mastered them) they would not produce a bushel. Very frustrating.

For those of you still having problems with lag time try Google Chrome, it’s worked wonders for me.

I am steaming over this crafting thing!!!! The whole time, I was winery, got the gnome but no cottage, then they say, not too late to change, so for intrest sake ONLY I clicked spa (hoping for the gnome), now I’m stuck with the friggin’ spa in my gift box…ready to sell for 5,000 coins and just never play the crafting part. Anyone know how to change back to winery without buying one? This is BS! arggggh

I really need seven more neighbors so that I can upgrade to a larger farm. I want to get the new largest size. Please friend me. My name is Maegan Gravette on Facebook. Sorry for the annoying add request. I can’t log onto the link exchange chat.

What is the difference between a level 1 good and a level 10 good? They both yield the same fuel when you trade them in?
