FarmVille Official Podcast – May 28th, 2010
This week’s Official Podcast is on time as scheduled and is hosted by Lexilicious with a guest appearance by Channel Zero. You can listen to the video above, read the FarmVille Freak Summary below or read the entire official transcript provided by Zynga at the bottom of the post.
FarmVille Freak Summary
Farmer’s Market
- Available to Level 15 or higher farmers.
- Collect Bushels used to get bonuses for yourself or neighbors.
- Works similar to “Perfect Bunches”.
- Finding your first Bushel will get your Market Stall for free or you can purchase in the market.
- You may have up to 5 Market Stalls.
- May hold up to 50 Bushels per Market Stall.
- You can choose coins, rewards, or XP for your rewards.
Nursery Barn Upgrades, Grow up your Baby Animals
- You can grow up your baby calfs and foals.
- The baby animal does not grow up into the same adult. Meaning that a Pink Patch Calf will not turn into a Pink Patch Cow.
- The reason why they do not grow up into their adult counterpart is because some exclusive animals were available with farm cash only.
User-Submitted Questions
- Q:What happened to the Pefumery, Winery, Workshop? A: While they appeared in the market for a short time, they were only being tested before they went into the game and were never functional and will be available in the future. These buildings with purpose will work with the Farmer’s Market and an upcoming Crafting system. This upgrade will be available in the next few weeks.
- Q: How long does it take Lexilicious to prepare the Podcast and research user-submitted questions? A: Anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to pick the questions and then may need to gather information from the FarmVille team which may take hours or a few days.
Channel Zero’s Tip of the Week
- For Newbies: Start out with a few plots to get used to the game, using the maximum amount of plots available takes more coins.
- For Veterans: You can only take 3 bags of bushels from one neihgbor, but you can gather up to 50 bushels total from various neighbors.

FarmVille Podcast – May 28th:
Hey Farmers and welcome to the Official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Lexilicious and I am in charge of all things community over here on the FarmVille team. As per usual, I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases, I will be answering some user submitted questions from members of the FarmVille community and you guys will all get a sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the near future. I am also happy to announce that our Tip of the Week segment has returned due to popular demand, and will be hosted from here on out by our very own Channel Zero!
So this week turned out to be jam packed with both new features and tons of Limited Edition items for everyone to enjoy.
Our most exciting release was the appearance of the long awaited Farmers Market!
At level 15 or higher, the Farmer’s Market allows you to collect bushels from harvested crops that can be used to get bonuses for yourself, or given to neighbors!
Collecting bushels is simply done by harvesting your regular crops. In much the same way that you can harvest Perfect Bunches from Flower crops, you’ll be able collect bushels from all permanent crops available in the Market. When you find your first bushel, you will get a Market Stall.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to wait, you can also purchase a Market Stall in the Buildings section of the Market for either coins or Farm Cash.
Please remember that you are limited to 5 Market Stalls on your farm in total. Each Market Stall you have can sell one type of crop. Once you’ve got your Market Stall in place, you can start collecting bushels to use yourself, or to let neighbors collect by harvesting your crops.
You can access your Market Stall’s menu by selecting “Farmer’s Market” from its pull down menu. Inside, you can see what bushels you’ve collected from your neighbors in the My Bushels section, what bushels your neighbors have available in the Get Bushels section and what bushels your stall is offering in the My Stall section.
Clicking the Get Bushels button will show you all of the bushels that your neighbors are currently offering. From here you can select any available bushels, and it will display a list of each neighbor that has the crop available, and how long their Stall is open for. Selecting a specific neighbor will take you to their Stall.
Bushels taken from your friend’s Stall are added to your inventory, which can be seen in the My Bushels section of your Stall. Once you’ve collected bushels, either from finding them on your own farm or taking them from your neighbors, they’re all displayed in your inventory. You can hold up to 50 bushels in your inventory, and each bushel can be shared or used. Clicking the Share button on any bushel will allow you to offer up a number of bushels of your choosing to your friends, via a feed.
Clicking the Use button consumes one of the selected bushels and gives you a bonus. The type of bonus depends on whether you have access to the crop or not. If the bushel used is for a crop you can plant, you receive a bonus of +1 Mastery whenever that crop is harvested on your farm for two hours. If you have already mastered this crop, the bonus is +1 experience point per harvest.
If you use a bushel of a crop that you are not high enough of a level to plant, you’ll receive a license to plant that crop that lasts for two hours.
Along with being able to collect and use bushels from Market Stalls, you can receive a reward of your choice whenever neighbors use your Stall!
The next time you return to your farm, if your neighbors have used your Market Stall an arrow will point to the appropriate Stall. Viewing the interior of the Stall will show you the three rewards that you can choose from. Coins, Fuel and Experience Points.
Now the Farmer’s Market is a big addition to FarmVille. Because of this, we want to hear your feedback. If you have any opinions you would like to share with us regarding this new feature, please make sure to visit the “Feedback” section of the Official FarmVille forums and let us know what you have to say.
The ability to grow up your baby animals in your Nursery Barn was also released this week, allowing players to raise their foals and calves into an all new adult animals that you can keep!
Depending on what animals are in your Nursery Barn, you have a chance of them growing up into a new Chocolate Cow, Holstein Cow, Black Horse, Cream Draft Horse and a Light Blue Pony when tending to your Nursery Barn.
Now, I have seen lots of questions from people already, who are unhappy that the baby animals do not grow up into their exact adult counterpart. For example, a Kelly green calf will not grow up into a Kelly green cow, it will grow up into one of the new animals I mentioned above. We made the feature the way it is, because many of the cows and horses that produce foals and calves can only be purchased with Farm Cash. It would be highly unfair to the people who purchased these animals for cash to have their friends and neighbors be able to grow their foals and calves up into the same animals for free.
Hopefully that clears things up a little bit for you guys. If you have any more questions about this new feature, please head on over to the Official FarmVille forums for more information.
And on that note, let’s go ahead and get into answering some questions submitted by members of the FarmVille community!
Our first question comes to us today from seidel mx3. “After read the last podcast about bushels, my question is: What happened with the “functional” buildings, like the perfumery, winery and fuel workshop?”
The Perfumery, Winery and Workshop some of you saw in the Market awhile ago, was a test we were doing on those features. While they were not yet functional, we do plan on releasing them in the near future. The buildings you saw were part of our crafting system. We are following up the new Farmers Market with a feature that will allow you to use bushels to craft special goods that you can trade with your friends. Players will be able to choose between several crafting buildings, each with their own unique benefits.
So make sure to keep an eye out for this new feature in the coming weeks.
Our next question comes to us from Mickey Mixx, and they would like to know how long it takes me to prepare the information and research the user submitted questions prior to recording.
Well, the time it takes to pick the questions can vary. I do my best to find questions that fit within the parameters of the segment, as well as ones that will be of interest to the community. Doing this can take me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Once I have the questions, I usually need to gather information. Depending on how busy the rest of the FarmVille team is, this can take me anywhere from an hour, to a few days. So in total, it does take some time to gather the information for the coming soon segment of the podcast, but it’s totally worth it for you guys to get some insight into how things work over here on FarmVille.
And now I am going to hand you guys over to Channel Zero, who is here to give us our Tip of the Week.
Howdy folks, it’s Channel Zero with your FarmVille Tip of the Week. Each week I’ll be giving you a couple of tips you can use to manage your farm a bit more effectively. This week, I’ve got one for those of you who are new to the game and a special tip for those of you currently tackling the Farmer’s Market.
First up, for those of you just starting up your Farm, I know you might be tempted to try and fill your Farm up with as many plots as you can right away, but hold off. Start out with just a few, plant some crops and get used to the game. One mistake new Farmers make often is adding so many plots to start that they don’t have enough coins left for the crops to plant in them. Take your time. You’ll be tending to a Mighty Plantation in no time.
Next, for all you Farming veterans currently gathering bushels from your neighbors in the Farmer’s Market feature, here’s a reminder. While you can only take 3 bags of bushels from a single neighbor’s Market Stall every 24 hours, you can gather up to 50 bags of bushels in total. So once you’ve run out of bags for one neighbor, head on over to another! If you’ve just started for the day, you’ve got 47 more coming.
Thanks for listenin’, and stay tuned next week for more tips from me, Channel Zero.
And last, but certainly not least, it is time for everyone to get a sneak peek of things coming to farmville in the near future.
We actually have a couple of cool things to talk about this week. Firstly, we will be implementing a new settings menu for everyone. The settings menu will allow you to easily change your preferences, including turning on and off animations, graphics, harvest indicators and the menu auto popping.
Insta-Grow will soon be coming to FarmVille, which will allow you to instantly grow your entire field of crops with our friendly bi-plane. And with this new feature, we will be releasing another nre co-op farming job for you guys to enjoy.
And I know you guys will be happy to hear that the Belted Cow will be coming in the near future. You will be able to purchase this cow for coins, but you are going to have to work for it a little bit.
Alright Folks, that’s it from me this week. I will be back next Friday to give you all of the latest news and information from around the Farm. Again, my name is Lexilicious, and I will see you soon. Happy farming everybody!

Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 5:45 pm
belted cows have a big stripe around them…like they’re all black, but they have a white stripe around their belly (waist)…like wearing a belt

NOTHING ABOUT THE DOGS FINAL TRICK?????
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 5:47 pm
Since when did Zynga care about things being fair or not?
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 5:51 pm
Bi-Plane ! That’s that unreleased nice plane. It will be awesome but for sure it will be over 50FV$ ……
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 5:55 pm
Belted cows come from Karate calves, LOL!
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 5:59 pm
My comment regarding the Farmer’s Market is that buying additional Market Stalls at $20FV each really ought to increase your maximum inventory higher than 50 bushels total. Whaddaya say Zynga?
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:03 pm
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO INCREASE THE FARM SIZE OR ADD MORE FARMS—–THERE IS NO PLACE TO PUT ANYTHING
ALSO—WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE fV $$$ IT IS NOT FAIR———–
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:11 pm
How can I post a picture of my farm with my U.S.FLAG DISPLAYED FOR MEMORIAL DAY?
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:12 pm
I got to agree with DJ; since when did Zynga care about fairness? The horses and calves were available before the cards came out so those under 18 (which is a good majority of players) had no chance at getting the LE cows/horses. Like myself i was hoping the cows would grow up into the adult forms since they came out before i could purchase cards. So I dont see this as “fair” at all. I think Zynga needs to look up that term. Zynga’s version seems VERY one-sided.
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
they are just saying that it wouldnt of been fair because they couldnt have been a bit nicer for onece and give for example a kelly green cow for a kelly green calf… -.-
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:19 pm
I’m just happy the podcast came out on time.
I’m also surprised that they didn’t mention the Mustangs and their problems.
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:24 pm
Email your farm to farmgoddess@farmvillefreak.com and we will post it up on Memorial Day.
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:27 pm
i cant wait for the belted cows to come out because when i was in scotland i saw quite a few and also in holland so it will be interesting what ‘work’ for them means
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:30 pm
There was the news of buying a market stall for coins added, but its function to unlock it is like the new tuscan cow. It isn’t too hard to do.
Zynga has continued to update their system. Just be happy they did allow minors to obtain the cards. I’m happy they are allowing us to turn on and off animations. Technically they “should” improve their coding, but we just have to deal with what we have.
I’m not going to argue “life isn’t fair”. It is more of a change in perspective as “take what is given to you”.
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:48 pm
Yeah! cuz my crops are 4 days before harvesting!!!
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 6:57 pm
lol to DJ. I had bought golden chickens with cash before they became regular mystery egg prizes. I didn’t really care that they became free. I don’t know who would be so greedy to care if the cows grow up but I like that there will be new animals!
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 7:09 pm
What happened to being able to rotate all buildings. I was more excited about that than all the new release items
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 7:16 pm
I know I have at least 4 gifts in my giftbox, but when I try to go click on the gift icon only a pointer icon appears as my mouse and not a hand pointer. Is this a glitch and has anyone else experience this?
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 7:21 pm
i think the belted cow will be linked to the new co-op job
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
The bi-plane is going to be big bucks for sure. Luckily, I have been able to get the 7-Eleven uber bonus with both of my accounts so they each got a nice 200 FV$, so I can either buy one myself or gift one to myself from my secondary account. I’m definitely saving my cash for a bi-plane. Even if it’s 200 FV$, the idea of instantly having my crops ready is pretty enticing. Especially since I’m only about 8 mastery signs (well 9 with ginger) away from having them all! Can’t wait to see what it’s all about. Also, I already have all of the existing special horses and cows and foals and calves, so I was more than happy to see the new ones. Why would I want more of the adult ones that I already have? I saw people complaining about the Appalooza foal not growing into an Appalooza horse. Here’s an idea – buy an Appalooza horse – they’re still available for purchase in the market. Not sure what the issue is on that one.
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 7:58 pm
I bought a second stand because it was supposed to let me store an additional 50 bushels, but I only have a total of 50 available spaces. All the bushels that I have stored in the first stand are duplicated in the second stand. Is this a glitch or is the podcast wrong?
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 8:39 pm
can someone please add me on farmville? none of my neighbors even play
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 9:27 pm
she said friendly bi-plane i think we have to build it
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 9:32 pm
I’m so sick of having to add additional neighbors to buy the god damned farmer market stalls! I had to get 44 for the first one, then 46 for the next, and now I have to get 48 if I want another!!
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 9:36 pm
Insta-grow will DEFINITELY be for FV, there’s NO chance of even hoping it won’t.
But hopefully, you might be able to get one out of a stimulas package or something… that’d be cool
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 11:17 pm
Has anyone had a problem with redeeming bushels for fuel? Twice I;ve selected fuel as my option and both times there was no increase in my fuel inventory! WHY??????!!!!
Posted on May 28th, 2010 at 11:52 pm
is the bi-plane need to be buy in fv cash?i hav got an email that i need to claim the helicopter w/ out spending a dime and i need to hurry up before it xpires
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 12:01 am
to #32 I have the same problem with selecting the fuel also
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 12:36 am
How can I get new bushels while harvesting in my stall?
I just harvested purple poppies and peanuts. But no bushels appeared in my empty market. Do I need to harvest a certain number of crops until a bushel will be created and can be found in the market stall? It is very disappointing to have now 3 empty stalls on the farm not knowing how to fill and share them.
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 1:05 am
actually I think u are getting fuel but not what you think. I thought I was getting like 15 tanks.. when it was like only 15 units (they are doing it different haven’t quite figured out how they are doing it but it isn’t even 1/5 of a tank I don’t think?
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 2:41 am
*********SERIOUSLY THERE WAS A GLITCH WHERE CERTAIN PLAYERS WERE STEALING 1000′S YES NOT TYPE O THOUSAND FARMVILLE CASH DUE TO A GLITCH THRU THE UGLY BOTANICAL GARDEN THAT IS WHY IT WAS REMOVED. I COULD HAVE TAKEN PART IN THAT BUT DECIDED NOT FAIR. BROUGHT IT UP TO ZYNGA AND THEY DID NOTHING. MEANWILE I SENT GIFTS TO PEOPLE BOUGHT ITEMS WITH MY MONEY CONTACTED SYNGA AND WAS TOLD OH YOU PROBABLY ERASED IT. CANT GIVE YOU ITEM BACK CANT GIVE YOU FV CASH BACK……..GIVE US LAND BIGGER LAND WHAT IS THE POINT IM LEVEL 70 AND HAVE NO ROOM FOR ANYTHING. GET BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE. NEXT TIME WHEN PEOPLE ARE STEALING I MIGHT JOIN. THE PEOPLE THAT RIPPED THEM OFF STILL HAVE FARMS WITH OVERWHELMING ITEMS AND 100S OF CASH. THANKS ZYNGA
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 9:12 am
FYI, Zynga, when you get a Kelly Green Calf in the real world (although there aren’t Kelly Green Cows in the real world to get the calf, but you get my meaning), they WOULD grow up into the adult animal. Any time you get a baby of something it will turn into the adult of its kind. For instance, the Golden Retriever puppy I bought, became the Golden Retriever Dog, if the calves and foals aren’t going to grow up into the adults of their kind, then why don’t the puppies grow up into a different kind of dog? It’s stupid. I was looking forward to my neighbors who don’t have the rare horses or cows to be able to get them and maybe have more of those rare animals out there. But no…………..why would they do that? I’m so pissed right now. How stupid is that?
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 10:53 am
Growing an animal up into something else makes absolutely no sense. Since when did they become about fairness?? So.. because I bought some of these specialty animals and may get an adult it is not fair to the other players who didn’t buy them? Makes no sense. The idea is to grow the adults so they can reproduce more baby calves that your neighbors pick up and then do the same. That is how it works in real life!! LOL how silly.. Unless the whole point is to avoid spreading out animals like the kelly green calf so that everyone has one eventually. IDK what they were thinking
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 12:27 pm
This sucks, I have been waiting forever for them to let us grow our foals up….Of course its fair for us to grow them up into their exact counterpart…..They say its unfair, well do you wanna know whats unfair, I recieved LIMITED EDITION ITEMS in mystery box’s that I paid 16 farm cash for and then like a month and a half, they are RELEASED again for cheaper! Seriously farmville…if us growing up our free faols or calfs into their exact counterpart is unfair, then you should not be re-releasing limited edition items!
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 2:08 pm
#32 Michael Hart
the fuel is in units/plots not full tanks. i noticed that when i read the fuel, so 15 units is only 15 plots.
Posted on May 29th, 2010 at 8:01 pm
I just want to point out too that this all has a very simple solution with the nursery barn: simply make it like perfect bunches of flowers, you can either share them or use them your self. In the case of the babies, if you choose to share it then it will turn into whatever animal as an adult. However, if you keep it then you should be able to grow it into the adult version. Especially since I am the one that paid 16 FC for it anyway, why the f**k don’t I get to keep the baby and grow and create more of them?? I’d like to see Kelly Green and Longhorn cows all over my farm but that will never happen. Not to mention that NOT ONE of my 30 neighbors has every purchased a limited edition animal, meaning I get to stare at my cute calves on other peoples farms.. NOW THAT IS UNFAIR! ROFLMAO, I thought they could grow the babies and give me some babies back but the people that work for Zynga are technically intelligent but seem to lack some common sense. And furthermore… those cows are LIMITED EDITION!!!!!!!! They are not available anymore, how will anyone get those things again without growing them into the adult version? Those people clearly won’t buy anything so what does it matter if they get them now?? I am lucky if I get a Kelly Green or Fan cow once a month! Only produced 3 kelly greens since march!! Not fair… ROFLMAO PUH-LEEZ

Where do we buy additional market stalls? I don’t see them in my Market.
Posted on May 30th, 2010 at 5:12 pm
I have the same problem as someone else. Farmville gave me one market stall and then I bought another one for $50,000 but it stays empty. When I try to put in a bushel it says its full but its actually talking about the other one is full (50 bushels). Each one should be able to hold 50 bushels. It looks ugly as an empty stall. I hope they fix this soon.
So many problems on FV lately.
Posted on June 1st, 2010 at 12:23 pm
@ 44 when ever you HARVEST different kinds of crops it will open up a stall for each different kind of bushel that u find while harvesting. but if you try and just set a bushel in there it will only go into your inventory
Posted on June 4th, 2010 at 7:06 pm
Megan, any other tip about the stalls?, having the same issue, 2 stalls with only 50 bushels, already harvestd something different and still not enough space.
Posted on June 10th, 2010 at 9:40 am
Why can’t I put bushels of my neighbors crops in my empty market stand? My stand is filled with one of my harvested crops, but I don’t want to waste it since none of what is growing right now will be done today. I can’t believe I bought a second market stall if I can’t even use it.
Posted on June 29th, 2010 at 7:29 am
when my friends visited to my stall and i got rewards in terms of coin/xp/fuel but when i select fuel it will not add to my fuel tank
like this I lost many fuel tank

Its been 3 months and where is the new settings menu? I like to turn off the animation on my farm.
“The settings menu will allow you to easily change your preferences, including turning on and off animations, graphics, harvest indicators and the menu auto popping.”
