It makes no sense that Carnival Squash requires Pattypan Squash to be mastered – it would make more sense if it were Acorn Squash. Zucchini requiring Pattypans at least made some sense – they’re both summer squashes. But Carnivals are winter squashes, like Acorns. They also look more like Acorns, even.

Oh, and first. Since I’m that mature.

They keep coming up with new seeds and they are just making them harder to master =(

I planted my whole field with carnival squash almost an hour ago after I noticed it in the market while looking around for something to plant. I think they have enough varieties of squash now.

Planted some lovely spinach already!

LOL @ Mike’s second post.

I have already planted some of the spinach because it is agood return on time/coin investment. Carnival Squash – not so much.

what are the mastery levels for these two new crops?
Posted on August 25th, 2010 at 11:11 pm
Carnival Squash Mastery:
2,000 Level 1
6,000 Level 2
12,000 Level 3
= 20,000 Total (5.2 days minimum – Ouch!)
Spinach Mastery:
300 Level 1
900 Level 2
1,800 Level 3
= 3,000 Total (1.7 days minimum)
Carnival Squash will take the longest amount of time to mastery in the game at over 5 days, assuming you have at least 600+ plots to harvest. My mouth dropped when I looked at these numbers. Zynga fail.

Scratch that.. not longest amount of time, but most times to harvest (16 times @ 8 hours)

Actually, John, Carnival Squash is a much more profitable crop. It’s actually now one of the top ten most profitable – just under white grapes. Spinach is done near the bottom, as befits a level 6 crop.

And I’m also glad they’re giving us crops that are a challenge to master – it gives me something to do. And the whole point of any game is to challenge – otherwise what’s the point? If I could master every crop in a day I’d be bored. So suck it up and rise to the challenge.

Will definitely be planting some spinach.

I’d love to see more herbs. Also, would be nice if they kept the cupcake seeds.

i wish they would put some more 2 3 and 4 day crops in the market

i like seeing new permanent crops, no matter what they are. i have a working farm and am working through the mastery of them one by one. i had a thought earlier, is it possible for them to make our planting plots smaller? we could fit more plots without making the whole thing bigger. it might slow things down, but it is already slow anyways.

most profitable coins per hour crops.
forget-me-nots 8.88
oats 8.75
basil 8.50
white grapes 8.33
bamboo 8.12
carnival squash 8.12
every other crop is under 8

I wont notice they exist if i didn’t go here, well, im gonna do spinach right away after i master white grapes and i can do that like a day, considering the requirements

r there bushels?

Ditto Lilinda, I was one day away from all crop masteries (except Forget-me-nots) because I’m level 89. Oh well, it will give me something to do until then. I swear they watch my farm and add new crops when I get close to full mastery.

You know the complaint about having to master pattypan instead of acorn squash to plant carnival squash? They’re all the same plant, just cultivated for different qualities, a lot liek brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli and a lot of others. It makes sense to have to master the first form of the plant to grow the later ones.

Well, Eliza, I’m guessing Pattypan Squash isn’t the first form of Curcurbita pepo.
