FarmVille Pig Truffle Hunting Now Available!
FarmVille Pigs A Trufflin' Notice
The FarmVille Pigpens debuted last week. Most farmers have already built their Pigpens and were waiting for the next steps. Starting tonight, farmers began having access to the Truffle Hunting that works with Pigpens. Note, this feature is being rolled out in phases, so if you do not have access yet, you soon will.
So how does Truffle Hunting work? You can start by accessing this feature through your FarmVille Pigpen. You can use your Pigs to hunt for Truffles on your neighbors’ farms. The better Pigs, will give better Truffles. The better Truffles can be traded in for prizes which will include some new Pigs. Some of the prizes you can get are a Strawberry Pig and Black Pig.
- 1. Make Pig Slop from Bushels.
- 2. Feed your Pig Slop.
- 3. Hunt with fed Pig.

Pigs that have just hunted for Truffles will need to rest for 2 days in the Pigsty and catch up on their sleep before they can hunt again.

Got this on my farm. SO pointless!!! If MY pig finds something….I DON’T get to keep it. I have to share it with my friends so that they can share it back with me. I will not be using this feature. No point if you don’t directly benefit.

It is kind of boring but I’ll try it out some just to see what prized I can get for special truffles. I bought the hot pink pig and it can be taken out of the pen and put right back in continuously unlike the regular pigs that have to sleep 2 days after you hunt with them.

I tried it (and wasted 10 bushels), and guess what? It doesn’t benefit me directly, like Nick said. I’m the only one of my friends that farm regularly, so I don’t think this feature is useful to me — at all. This is probably the first time that I haven’t participated in some new event launched by Farmville… Oh well, at least I can harvest my pigs every day instead of every 2 days.

I tried it. Went truffle hunting with all 20 pigs in my pen. I posted Truffles to 5 or 6 neighbors Walls. I have already had two neighbors post truffles on my Wall. I traded in one Black Truffle and got a White Pig. I was able to share one extra White Pig with a friend. Could be fun for a few days… might get boring after that.

yeah null means nothing , I had to go out and give it a second to go back in again and do another search so that it actually found a truffle for someone …. I am wondering where the found truffles go as well lol?? Part of me is thinking its another zynga updated that wasnt put all together before releasing it and part of me is just plain clueless lol I want my stinking trufflesssssss lol

it worked seamlessly for me.
Problem is, it just yields more pigs. My pen is already maxed out and now I have another half dozen pigs and growing fast. At least I got strawberry and white pigs.

I think its stupid to have the truffles we find to go to neighbors instead of ourselves! Especially if Im going to make sure I have good pigs to get all colors and others maybe only give me brown truffles. It doesnt seem like they thought this one out at all! It would be ok if we kept what truffles our pigs found and maybe also go to the persons farm it was found on. It would be best to have it sent to them as a gift to collect.

I suggest waiting until this gradual rollout is done, since you could be helping neighbors who cannot do anything yet in some cases.

There are soooo many wingers on this site. this feature is pretty cool. I found roughly 6 lots of truffles as well as 2 of my friends finding one with my name on it. just facebook message you friends and get them to click the link and send back. Its not that hard. so far I have a got a white pig, black pig, strawberry pig and pink pot belly pig. Well worth it and a great feature. Well done zynga

I do not understand why you are all so pissed of!!!!!!!! I really love that feature! Just look at the animation of the pigpen! Its great! The pig in front of the stall! So cute!
And i think its not a waste of bushels to make slop, at least i have always a ton of bushels I just delete and its another reason to shop for more bushels in your friends market stalls!
And the idea with the slop and the pigs sleeping in their box is so cute! I really love it! And of course I hunted for 20 Truffels and found eight and 4 of them were useless becaus i found them on nulls farm, but who cares? I got 4 truffels on friends farm who will send them back to me in a few minutes!
Teamwork with you friends was always the basic of Farmville. I think if you are just making your own thing on your little farm it would be boring in a few weeks.
And if you dont have regular players in your neighbourhood then search for some! OMG it is not that hard to find FarmvilleFreaks, remember on which page we are. And if you are not interested in looking for new neighbours make a few new e-mails adresses, connect them with a facebook account and be your own friend.
At least my pigs are only finding truffels on friends farms who have recently played.

When I look inside my pigpen now, it’s back to the old pig catalog. Has making slop and hunting for truffles been disabled because of all the glitches?

Mine is back to the old pig catalog as well. It was working before and just randomly stopped.
I did get a white pig and two strawberry pigs though so I’m not complaining.
I do wish Zynga would give us an increase in storage for bushels. I am totally full because I have a full sized bakery, and am working on multiple mastery signs, so I want to use all the ones I have. I don’t have any that need to be ‘slopped’, nor do I have the room to collect random ones from my friends walls that I didn’t need before. 150 would be plenty… Even 125 would be a great help.

My only issue with this feature is that I am fed up with people poaching my Special Deliveries and rewards for purchases from my Crafting Building. If the Truffles can be swiped too, then I will be livid.
I remove all neighbors who like a certain website that has a snagger bar.

It can benefit you, someone posted brown truffles to me and when I accepted it asked if I wanted to send some back. And when I used the truffles I got a ossabwa pig (no big deal) plus I got to post an extra to my feed. So if you get a rare pig that can be neat.

I agree and disagree with you Jez. Of course I wish we had more room for bushels (and more land, and bigger coop, and bigger stable and, and, and..). But I think part of the fun (at least for me) is figuring out the best use of my resources. Do I hold a bunch of bushels for mastery or make room for more white grapes for wine? The making of slop is easy as long as I’m not near bushel capacity. I just went out and grabbed a few bushels of the FB feed that I normally wouldn’t have (i.e. soybeans) and used that.
If they could solve the “null’s farm” problem I would give Zynga an A+ for this one. Well done.

I had a golden gnome appear in my inbox after finding golden truffles. I also was able to get a white/strawberry pig. Part of the game is sharing items with others. This new feature does this; for those who don’t want to use the feature because they don’t want pigs – why play a social game? I am one who breeds my rare horses and spends quite a bit of time doing this for neighbors; it really makes it difficult to spend that time on making foals for people who don’t understand that 1/2 of this games function requires neighbor assistance. So you have a pig pen on your farm – the foot print of that is the same that it would take to hold your 20 pigs – so you don’t keep your found pigs (sell them for coins). This way your neighbors get the rewards. For those who just have neighbors that they truely know – that is fine. But for all you “ADD ME” junkies it is a complete F U to the people who add you so you can collect from them and give nothing in return.
I am guessing these folks who think it is pointless because there is nothing in it for them are the same who don’t click barn rasings, expansions, supplies, say thank you for items or return gifts.
For the “snag bar” items noted by MooMooMOo; for the truffles (first pop up) it is only for that person. For the extra pig you get when you find it – that is able to be snagged from the feed. A good thing to do to avoid the cheats:
1st pop up: Share/Cancel – click share
2nd pop up: Publish/Cancl – Right click on the first line of the description of hte posting and copy the link then past that link on your status. You can type in the description of the item.
Since the link is not done by auto publishing by FV – the snag bars don’t grab it. Only people who click can get it.

it’s probably temporarily disabled while they fix the glitches. the first day I got 4 or 5 nulls, one neighbor who popped up an error message and two neighbors that worked. and somebody posted one on my page too. I got a regular pig, an ossaba pig and a strawberry pig. If it’s only going to be pigs, it will get boring but for now it’s an interesting concept. I agree Michelle with all you say. it’s a cute visual, with the pig in the little yard, and making slop gives me incentive to buy all the bushels I was ignoring before because I didn’t need them for my winery. So now I’ll be shopping from all my neighbors, no matter what they’re growing. I’m guessing they’ll add new prizes as time goes on to maintain interest …

This feature hasnt become active on my farm yet. I was wondering if anyone was going to or able to post a list of which pigs find which truffles. It said the better pigs find the better truffles. Does “better” mean the hot pink or saddleback pigs??? I dont have any white, strawberry or potbelly pigs yet, so will be happy to get them.

I’m a little confused. It let me hunt three of my pigs, but then when I clicked on additional pigs, it told me that they were all tuckered out and that my hunt didn’t turn up anything, and it sent them off to sleep! Is there a limit on how many pigs we can hunt in any given time period? Or is this yet another glitch?

Not terribly impressed. I packed my pigsty with my rare pigs.
I spent lots of bushels on slop.
All the rare pigs found nothing.
The few common pigs found truffles.. but apparently belonging to people who I know never actually play.
So I get nothing for my endeavours.
A friend had posted a truffle on my wall – but when i tried to claim it, it said the time had expired. He had posted it 2 hours previously. Erm, not really fair that

I found black, white, and brown truffles…didn’t receive any back from friends..had 3 “Nulls”. But a list would be good: which truffle is best..white or black…which is the best pigs…the one that hunts white or black…I think brown is the lesser quality truffle….fun to know!

One of my truffles returned a large can of fuel, the others all returned pigs. Most of my truffles are going to inactive neighbors but I do get a few for active neighbors.
PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR INPUT…here is what I think is the “hierarchy of pigs”
Lowest to highest:
1) Brown truffles: from (regular) pigs, ossabaw, black, and party pigs.
2) Black truffles: from saddleback (the 300K coin pig), strawberry, and piglets.
3) White truffles: from hot pink and white pigs.
4) Gold truffles: from pot-belly and miniature pigs (which were available recently in the mystery game).
This is my experience so far. Please post any changes or updates you have experienced.
Also, it seems that the pig you receive when trading in a truffle is either for that level or one level higher.

Help!
I currently have 19 pigs in my pen. However, I can only see/use 15 of them. I’ve made slop for my pigs and sent them all off to hunt, but only 15 were available.
Above the sleeping area for the pigs, it says that 15/19 are sleeping.
Where are the other 4 pigs??

half of my truffles couldn’t be posted to neighbors’ walls, then all but one went to people inactive. it’d be nice if we actually got to have truffles from our pigs ourselves. still don’t understand the logic of why we can’t just snatch it out of their mouths but instead give it away to everyone else.

i think the pig sti is ok come on they had too do something different to the horse stables and nursey and chicken coops and outa them three u only get anything from the nursery so why play if ur just greedy i make foals daily collect the best chickens and foals for my nursery and rarely take anything back its just a game and the pigs are kinda cool but agree ppl will soon get bored of it but why not just play while ppl are into it and stop moaning im still waiting for my pregnant sow to be found do u hear me moaning nooooooooooooooooooo

Okay, so I have sold the Strawberry Pig and got 15,000 coins. Not bad.
Some observations from recent FV playing:
1. Even the neighbors that haven’t blocked in the avatar don’t move when I fertilize their farm or feed their chickens. Nice!
2. The new setup for visiting my neighbors is easier to fertilize (or whatever action you choose), gift, and feed the chickens. Nice, too.
3. I was able to gift 50 friends all at the same time. Very Nice.
I know there are a lot of issues, but I think the developers are listening, and are trying to make their game what the users (us Fanatics) want it to be, and for us not to get bored. And I think that’s good.

My son got a pregnant pig, tried to put it into the pigpen & it vanished! It says he has 7 pigs but the pictures only show 6 sleeping pigs – what can he do? I found 2 truffles for him & he sent back both, & we both got 2 cute pigs [1 black, 1 pink], but nobody else I sent truffles returned them. You can customize who you send the gift pig to on the “publish” page – send them to appreciative friends only.

I was loving the pigpen until I just noticed that all my strawberry pigs (of which I had 4) and my potbelly pig have turned into plain black pigs!!! I tried contacting customer support and I they changed the way it’s set up. It looks like I can’t even put a ticket in! Beware putting your high level pigs in your pen!
Zynga has never had good support but now it seems it’s non existent!

Pigs are not ALL you get. I have had 3 10 tank fuel refills so far. Yeah, some of the truffles go to inactive players. So what? Try again.

I like the pigpen game all except the way you have to collect the truffles you find. As usual, FV is using its players to try to get people that have quit playing back in the game. Out of 20 pigs that hunted for truffles, 8 found black truffles. When only two came back I decided to check why. 6 of the neighbors weren’t even playing anymore. Guess I should thank FV because they are no longer my neighbors or friends. Found a total of around 35 in the same situation. They are gone too.
Just don’t understand why FV doesn’t reward neighbors that play every day and just let us collect our own truffles. Cute game that is being ruined by the way items are collected.

First off, I have been putting all my pregnant sow’s in the pigpen…. they are counting towards the total but they are not in the pig pen… WHERE DID THEY GO?
Also, how does the whole pregnant sow thing work anyways? I have sent lots of pregnant sow’s back home but I haven’t gotten any piglets yet?

I like the truffle game but like other people the truffles mostly go to people who dont play anymore so you dont get one back to get your reward for playing. But if you do happen to get someone who does still play you only have less than 8 hours to pick up your truffle or it has expired. What is up with that. People who have to work or cant sit over there farm 24/7 cant get the few truffles they do get. Reward people who do play not the ones that dont.

Hunted 10 saddleback pigs a little over two hours ago. Received 6 black truffles. All went to neighbors that maybe only play once a day or every other day. If two hours is the limit before truffles expire, I will receive nothing back.
Why hide my saddleback pigs in the pigpen and receive nothing in return.
GAME IS A WASTE OF TIME JUST CREATED TO BRING BACK INACTIVE PLAYERS.

I love the pigpen, it’s cute.. I love how there’s a point to pigs now, and I love that they hunt for truffles. I don’t love that it’s next to impossible to get truffles because 0 of the ones I have sent people from what my pigs dug up have come back to me. I would really like some of the fun pigs but I can’t get them if I can’t get truffles back.. I am disappointed in that part..

i agree with a lot of people on this, i dont understand why i have to send to someone in order to get the truffles. what if my friends dont send them back? then i’ve just wasted hard earned bushels and time. why can’t we just do like we always do and get the truffles right away and trade them for things. it makes this feature time consuming and unappealing. also, i can only add up to 20 pigs? why can’t we expand and make the truffle hunting optional. i think it’ll serve a better purpose as a storage for all the pigs.

I love FV but am totally discusted with truffle hunting. Noone sends truffles back so it is a waste of time. Why can’t we keep the truffles we find instead of giving them to people whodon’t play or are selfish? Also how do some players get special animals to send out? Are they Zynga employees?

I don’t get this feature at all. I mean i understand how it all works but out of 20 pigs maybe 4 of them actually find anything and of those 4 that do find a truffle 3 of them are on peoples farms who no longer play. Last night I finally had 7 that found truffles. The problem was that 6 of them were at the same persons farm and that person hasn’t played AT ALL for 5 months!!! This is boring as hell. People who no longer play do not want to be harassed by farmville. Its not like they are going to look at their FB wall and see a truffle there and say “Oh goody, now that’s what I have been waiting 5 months for” ….

Seawolf…people who no longer play are not being SOCIAL….LOL…The pigs should find truffles on peoples farms who actually do play!!

I totally agree with Jamie. I use my best pigs and bushels; then the pig finds truffles (gold, black, pink truffles) on a neighbor’s farm that no longer plays Farmville and I never receive the Gold Truffles back. I should get the Gold Truffle first then share with someone I know that actually plays Farmville. Just like the Eggs. Also, alot of people play 5 or 6 Zynga games (Farmville is not their favorite) and the post go down so quickly that the neighbor may never even see the post. It’s not fair to the people who are actually buying the more expensive pigs to get even better pigs for their PigPens then never get anything back in return. This was not well thought out at all. Reward the people who actually play Farmville and not the ones who go there once a week or once a month. These people never even see that someone sent them a Gold Truffle. I know which neighbors play and which do not. I go to their farms to feed their chikens and the farms have been empty for weeks.

I agree with Jamie & Helen.. give us the truffles first & lets pass them to people who do play! I am selling my pigpen if they don’t get this straightened out..
Everytime I send pigs to collect, the truffles go to players who
1) don’t play
2) or rarely play
so I never get them back..
On the rare occasion it goes to someone who does play, I only have 8 hrs to collect the truffle back or it is too late.. This BITES!!!!
I have to work, most people do, the least they could do is leave them available for a day.. time to quit the dumb truffle hunt!

I am really bothered that I waste all of my bushels making slop then i hunt with 20 pigs- mind you and get only 1 truffle- I will no longer be truffle hunting- just thought you’d like to know
