Posted on April 21, 2011 12:32 am by FarmVille Freak MaddMadamMim

FarmVille Spring Egg

Greetings Farmers! With the release of new items on the market last night, it looks like the scammers are back at it. You may see a scam for a free Giant Cream Egg tree on your FaceBook news feed.

Make note, this scam states, “Giant CREAM Egg tree.” The tree on the market is a “Giant SPRING Egg tree.” This is the easiest way to tell it’s a scam.

This is NOT from the official FarmVille Zynga game!

  1. cisco Says:

    wtf my farm aint loading!!!!!!!

  2. Moo Moo Moo Says:

This scam is particularly disturbing in that they have managed to spoof Farmville’s Facebook Application ID number so that it appears in the lower left of one’s screen when hovering over via FarmVille.

The real link appears when hovering one’s mouse over the tree image.

Given the simultaneous appearance of girl committing suicide posts to the feed along with this scam, I believe they could be related.

  3. Krankywytch Says:

It appears to be even more insidious than just a scam to divert players to advertising sites.
A neighbour grew a mystery seedling into a Giant Spring Egg Tree. When she posted it to her wall and I clicked on it to receive one, I was diverted to the scam site. Her legitimate post has not appeared on her wall at all, it has been replaced by the scam.
Is it possible that these lonely, bored fruits have managed to hack into FV??

  4. mandx lana Says:

FARMVILLE FREAK, U PLZZZ LISTEN TO ME, I LOVE THIS SITE BEFORE BECAUSE IT SHOWCASES UNRELEASED ITEM WHICH MAKES ME AND MY FRIENDS EXCITED, THIS IS THE ONLY SITE WHICH SHOWS THEM IN VERY ORGANIZE MANNER, BUT WHEN U BECAME OFFICIAL FAN PAGE AS ZYNGA DECLARED, U BECAME FUTILE, NONSENSE, ..U POST THOSE STORIES WHICH ARE ALREADY VISIBLE. WE DONT NEED THEM,..WHAT THE PLAYERS NEED ARE THOSE UNRELEASED..IM JUST SAYIN….

  5. katy Says:

its easy to tell because it says farmer put in alot of effort if its real it would say katy put in alot of effort etc. Thats the only way i know now apart from that it looks real.

  6. Papaw Says:

and the heck of it is,, the url for that page, has neeve farmvillefreak or something like that in the address bar..

even the numbers in the bottom left corner, start with 102 and end with 8776, just like the real farmville posts. (when you hover your mouse over “farmville”)

  7. Brad Says:

Slightly off topic but this was the newest news thread…..

Is anyone else having trouble accessing their english farm?
Normal farm loaded fine, but when i went to move over the english farm crashes about 95% of the way along on the loading bar. Now i’m locked out of both. Tried it in 2 different web browsers and on FV.com & facebook.

  8. MaddMadamMim Says:

We understand your concern Mandx. Being and Official site now we are inclined to stick with Official FarmVille Released news updates. We apologize if you find this frustrating.

  9. Heyho Says:

The problem with the latest scams like this one is that they actually use the Farmville ID number 102452128776 – How on earth can they do this and get away with it…

I ended up blocking Farmville posts by mistake :((

  10. Marla Sather Says:

Yes I have run across the scam site and clicked on it because it scanned (ID number) like the real FarmVille site. Then when I realized I didn’t have the tree in my gift box, I got on the feed and wrote SCAM on every post that I could find. Meanwhile, after this last enhancement with the new gift box, all my special delivery boxes are…gone!!! WTF

  11. Toebee84 Says:

While the FV app ID has been spoofed, when someone clicks on “Get Giant Cream Egg Tree” and they are directed to the scam page, WHY DO THEY CONTINUE? Are they really that stupid or greedy to keep going? I truly do not understand why they cannot tell the difference between collecting a real item as opposed to attempting to collect from the scammers. It is so obvious, but yet they continue to fall for it so the scammers keep scamming.

  12. Adrianne Says:

When I tried to block the scam last night, it actually ended up blocking the real Farmville! So these scammers are getting better and better.

  13. Miljenka Says:

    Another scam

  14. MaddMadamMim Says:

If you find a scam, please take screen shots of the notice on the news feed and the scam page. Then e-mail the link, and screenshots to MaddMadamMim@FarmVilleFreak.com.

  15. Sarah Says:

Could someone explain me why Why some players publish it over and over?! They never get Any prizes but keep click that damn button?!? Grrrrrr. I have published it once, when I began to play FV, since then I know that all these posts are Scam. Oh my, can’t be silent anymore.

  16. TEEJAY Says:

@ Sara: Sadly, some people are just that greedy. If anyone on my list publishes the same scam more than once, I immediately delete them…. and some of them, the FIRST time is enough. There are a gazillion FV players on FB. I don’t need that crap cluttering up my wall. I just move on to more intelligent players. :)

  17. Sandra Says:

Anybody has any idea how to get farmville to restart loading the farms…. :(

  18. Jessica Says:

What gets me with this scam is when I go to hide the stupid thing or block the post. It is actually part of the real farmville zynga. Meaning everything including the real farmville feeds gets blocked too. So if its not part of them, why the hell when I block it, it blocks everything. Not part of them yeah right! Bet they got a person in their crew making junk in their feeds and they don’t know it!!!

  19. Jessica Says:

@Sandra did you try and go to http://www.farmville.com instead of going through facebook itself. They usually say (Zynga) that page will work when the other is not.
