In an update made on 03.04.10, FarmVille added more opportunities to gain free fuel!

You can now gain free fuel by plowing or helping out on your neighbor’s farms when fertilizing their crops. You may also find free fuel offered on your FarmVille neighbors Facebook newsfeed by sharing and also find it in Mystery Gifts or Mystery Eggs .

Free Fuel is always nice, especially if you are using the gas-guzzlilng Hot Rods!

For more information on Free Fuel read here from Official FarmVille Forum Moderator Lexilicious:

“There are now new ways to find fuel for your vehicles! In addition to purchasing fuel and discovering it in Mystery Gifts or Eggs, you are now able to find fuel while plowing your Farm and when fertilizing a Neighbor’s farm.

Plowing Your Own Farm
– Sharing Fuel with Neighbors

When plowing on your own farm, you have a chance to find fuel once per day.

When you find fuel on your farm, you can share this fuel with your Neighbors by posting a feed to your wall. Up to 150 of your neighbors will be able to click this feed once to get fuel of their own.

After clicking the feed, they will be taken to a page that will inform them of how much fuel they have earned. The amount of fuel your Neighbor will receive from clicking on a feed is determined by how many plots they have on their farm. The more plots they have, the larger the amount of fuel they’ll receive. This fuel is added directly to their overall tank.

When clicking on a Feed from a Neighbor, you may be told that you have too much fuel. In order to find more fuel, you’ll need to use some of the fuel that you’ve gained to make room for more.

Fertilizing Your Neighbors’ Farms – Earning Fuel for your own use

When fertilizing your Neighbors’ farms, you have a chance to find fuel that you can use on your own farm.

When this fuel is found, it will appear as a fuel canister rising up from the ground (like the coin you see when plowing or seeding your land). Fuel that is found from Fertilizing is added directly to your overall fuel tank. The amount of fuel you receive is also determined by how many plots you have on your farm.

The more plots you have, the larger the amount of fuel you will receive. You can find fuel once for each neighbor’s farm that you fertilize. However, at a certain point while fertilizing your neighbor’s farms, you may notice that you are no longer finding fuel. In order to find more fuel, you’ll need to use some of the fuel that you’ve gained to make room for more.

Whether you are collecting fuel from your neighbors’ feeds or by fertilizing their farms, you will gain either one or two small tanks of fuel from each discovery.

In order to balance out the new ways that we’ve added to find fuel, we’ve slowed down the rate at which fuel naturally regenerates. All farms will be able to regenerate a full tank of fuel over time, but now this rate is determined by how many plots of land you have on your farm. The more plots you have on your farm, the quicker your fuel regenerates.

The quickest you’ll be able to regenerate a full tank of fuel is 24 hours.

Note: If you have not yet purchased a Vehicle, you will still be able to collect fuel as long as you are level 12 and above.”

BUT, fuel no longer refills over time.

  2. Tom Says:

yeah they want you to fertilize and I am doing it now, you get a lot more fuel! so guys just do it and stop complaining

  3. Neoriix Says:

Very nice…it’s a great new from Zynga :D

  4. Vero Says:

I just found fuel while plowing my own farm and then it asked me if i wanted to share.

  5. Laura Says:

why doesn’t the fuel have that automatica refill for that one fuel that’s partly used up?? why didn that change? THAT WAS THE BEST PART OF FUEL!!

    please bring it back :’(

while some things on FV are getting better… the awesome things about it seem to be disappearing too :(

  6. gogogoff Says:

there seams to be a limit on this also =(

  7. Emma Says:

I like this. I fertilize my neighbor’s farms almost every day and few neighbor’s return the favor that often, if it all. This will definitely motivate people to be good neighbors :)

  8. Ann Says:

@ Emma: i agree with you.
i fertilize my neighbors farms and feed the chickens.
in return what do i get? nothing OR they fertilize one plot. that’s it. i find it a bit unfair. :(

  9. Guapo Says:

I FOUND THAT THE WORD ‘NIGGA’ CAN BE OFFENSIVE TO BLACK PEOPLE IF YOU ARE A WHITE FAG. THANKS. TITTIES!

  10. gogogoff Says:

looks like fuel auto refill is not gone, but slowed, the FASTEST it will refill is now 24 hours.

  11. Fable Says:

This is great news! but i wonder if i can get any since my fuel went over 1100… i dont have a lot of plots and i got a lot of fuel from collectibles and eggs.

It’s easier to find fuel now, c’mon farmers… who cares about the automatic refill…

  12. Yaniv Sims Says:

Guapo – I FIND THAT THE WORD FAG CAN BE OFFENSIVE TO GAY PEOPLE IF YOU ARE A NIGGA. THANKS. TITTIES!

  13. Pam86 Says:

    @ Fable!! I CARE about the auto-refill

I used a strategy for saving fuel (specially that I’m running out of it, got like about 10 tanks) so every night I would leave it almost empty and it will refill all night, in the morning I’ll used the 1/5 fuel tank so it will refuel again until my crops are ready to harvest.

Even if Farmville is coming up with a lot of stuff, I’m getting bored because it its either useless things or FV cash!!!

  14. farmerjen Says:

I saw this while fertilizing today and was so excited to see my fuel go up to 126 only to return to my farm five minutes later after fertilizing to see it was back at 120. Several refreshes later still 120. Thanks for the imaginary fuel FV

  15. spinsterwithcat Says:

I’d rather get fuel than coin for fertilizing crops. That said, I did it this morning and my fuel level went up to 8 spare tanks. Then famville reset itself and I lost two of them. This was lame. I think it’s a good change, provided they work out the glitchiness. I, too, had a strategy for saving gas, but I think this is better overall.

  16. MissDinTexas Says:

The fuel is great :) Now if they can have the rare collectables pop up more than once a decade. I have 5 dairy farms, 20 loose cows, and 15 calves and I have yet to come across cowbells and I harvest every day. I also fertilize neighbors crops everday and have come across the shears but twice. Now I understand that these are “rare” items but come on through us a bone every once in a while. Ok I have vented, have a great day everyone!

  17. CQQKIE Says:

My neighbours and I have had no success with the new “get fuel” postings… all you get is 100 coins, no fuel… and it’s not worth the wait to get back into your own farm after being on the home page! It would be really nice if FV upgrades were tested and actually worked prior to “upgrading” FV to include them.

  18. Dude udsgklhzcfgvcnbjr Says:

Hhmmm… i earned my fule. got off farmville. went back and the fule i earned was gone

  19. KapoZivi Says:

    @ Fable: I CARE!!!!

I have an over 500 plots field and i am seeding more than once a day to earn the mastery of the few hours seeds. Can some at Zynga tell me, how i should go on with that, without breaking my right forefinger?

Without automatic refuel, I will have to rethink my engagement in playing FV.

  20. Kasey Says:

I went from just over 1 tank to just over three after fertilizing and adding a 1/5 I had, but when I went back I only had one and a half and the 1/5 was gone from my gift box. Is this just a OOS type error or do you need to use it right away to keep it?

  21. b Says:

I don’t think that the fuel is refilling like it used to (EX. More fuel in 00.54 secs) All it says now it “___ lots left” :(

  22. aven Says:

Lower tank refill time = fewer times I need to visit Farmville. Not a good call you guys at Zynga.
    4 refills = 4 crops = 4 visits
    1 refill = 1 crop = 1 visit
Re the fertilisation – well that is only once a day as well.

  23. MooMooMoo Says:

I have noticed that we are allowed to collect a maximum of five (5) small tanks a day from the posts sharing black gold found on ones farm and shared. On the sixth attempt there will be a small cash consolation prize.

  24. JJ Says:

I don’t think it’s an incentive to fertilize your neighbor’s farms so much as an incentive to spend more FV cash or find more neighbors. Casual players are playing with a very small amount of neighbors and log in maybe every few days to play. If their fuel doesn’t refill they either have to 1) buy some with FV cash or 2) bully their friends into joining Farmville.

I think this fuel “upgrade” is good in that I can get more than one tank a day if I fertilize my neighbors’ farms but bad in that there’s a cap to how much fuel we can procure. I got up to +5 refills and then the game reset and I had +3. What a disgusting tease. I didn’t get a cash consolation either.

Also, their events are flawed because you can only send/receive 10 requests a day so many people end up with nothing because people are mainly accepting rather than giving.

These little problems are making it difficult for me to play as religiously as I did when I first started. There’s no charm in playing if I feel like I’m setting myself up for disappointment.

  25. Michele Says:

I also earned a bunch of feul and than the game made me reload and when it came back, I’d lost two tanks that I had already earned!

They better fix that, cause it is pretty freaking aggravating!

  26. Pam Says:

I haven’t been able to collet any off the shared fuel. It has told me that I’ve gone over my limit and I hadn’t even collected any! The same thing has happened to my cousin. I’m hoping that they fix this soon!

  27. Rose Says:

Same comment as No. 23: Although I haven’t collected any fuel at all, when I try to collect the shared fuel, it tells me that I’m past today’s limit. Very frustrating. I also wish they’d be more precise in their description of what we’re to do. “However, at a certain point while fertilizing your neighbor’s farms, you may notice that you are no longer finding fuel. In order to find more fuel, you’ll need to use some of the fuel that you’ve gained to make room for more.” What does that mean??! Which fuel that I’ve gained? And how much of it? It doesn’t help for the instructions to be inscrutable!

  28. Mumma J Says:

Okay..I’m a bit upset with FV…I BUY my fuel as every dang egg I open gives me a flipping chicken while my friends all get 5 to 20 free fuel refills…so today as I was on a neighbors farm said I got fuel, then it flashed a sign saying I had “to much fuel” to receive any more…WTF??? REALLY after I pay for mine?? I also was up to 65 fuels refills and now I’m at 60…5 just disappeared…5 that I Paid real money for…this has to be fixed….

every share link I clicked on alsoi gave me the same message..I had to much fuel…WTH???

I agree with an above post…Everything new or worthwhile cost real FV cash and never coins…this is SO totally unfair…why do we click away wasting time here when we can not trade our coin for dollars…just not fair at all..I understand they need to make cash, but man, every so often allow us to trade coins for dollars…even once a month…it grips me when I see a dairy farm for 20 FV dollars or 20,000 coins…really?? Let me trade those 20,000 coins for 20 FV dollars…fair is fair..I’m about done FV…now I feel like you’re getting greedy….and I am NOT alone in my feelings…I can drop this game in a NY minute if this kind of stuff keeps going on…just sad…you have a great product…reward those players that keep coming back…LET US TRADE COIN FOR CASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. dawn Says:

Same here as others-no fuel only coins. Lie.

  30. gultus Says:

Not sure whether it is a glitch or intended behaviour as I already have lot of fuel. When I fertilize my neighbors plots I have +4 or +5 fuel but once I reload farmville it reduces to +1 or +2. If it is the intended behaviour then I have no incentive to fertilize plots of more than a handful of neighbors.

  31. Adam Says:

I think fuel promotions are a great idea; however they should not have changed the way that fuel actually functioned. I do think they should provide a way for an average size farm to be able to use all 3 vehicles and have the fuel actually cover it at least once a day. This has never even come close. I felt like I was forced into using macros to do farming, there is no way Farmville should expect the players to do well over 1,000 mouse clicks at least once a day (usually twice or more) just to accomplish the basic tasks of the game.

My farm is 24 x 24 and I have roughly 400 crop squares, so in the harvest, plow, and planting process alone that’s 1200 clicks, now onto trees and animals, visits and gifting, it’s a bit much without even coming close to adequate fuel.

Using Macros is the only ‘cheat’ I have ever done. I personally don’t even feel like it’s a cheat, I have not used a macro to buy/sell hay bales or plant/delete soy or any other ‘level up’ cheats. I really do want to play by all the rules, the fuel is what pushed me to automate the crop process. If you are also pissed about the fuel issue, that’s fine cut fuel out of your farming. Applications I recommend are Easy Macro, Ghost Mouse, or go find one you like.

    Happy Farming!!!

  32. Dale Says:

re: post 28 mumma j that sucks, id be contacting fv over that, they must have a contact section in support?

I’m also getting the “too much fuel” message when i try to collect bonus, and i only have 7 tanks!
I dont know exactly how many plots i have, but it takes 5 tanks to harvest, plow and reseed so 7 tanks is not going to get me far!

  33. Char Says:

I can find (and keep) the fuel when I fertilize my friends’ farm but the fuel tank no longer regenerates any fuel. I’ve never found fuel in any eggs but thankfully, I’ve hoarded a few collections so I will get my fuel one way or another.

  34. Yvonnne Says:

My fuel no longer fills up when I fertilise my neighbours crops, and I am not taken to their chicken coup after fertilising crops. This has been happening for 2 days. Any ideas on what’s gone wrong? Thanks

  35. aven Says:

Hi Yvonne – I haven’t got the same problem, but there seems to be something up with the fuel supply. I can’t claim the fuel that my neighbours find. FV tells me to get farming first and this after I’ve used an entire tank. Along with the no-existent cowbells this is really hacking me off

  36. Lisa Says:

This update seemed cool except that it keeps telling me when I try to accept fuel from friends’ wall posts that I have to use some of my fuel first. This is when I only have like 5-7 tanks. My mom who also plays has over 60 tanks and she has no problem collecting as much fuel as she wants from wall posts.

  37. aven Says:

I have just used a tank and a half to harvest my crops and can’t claim my neighbour’s free fuel, because it tells me I must get farming. What is the point of posting this stuff if it can’t be used? People might just as well not post and it would save a lot of time and trouble

  38. Sky Juz Says:

Same as Mama J. every share link that i click FV always tell me that i have too much fuel .. WTF? Some ppl pay for their fuel and some are willing to do the 1000 click so that they can built their fuel tank. Lately for the past few days even when I fertilize my neighbors crops, i still didn’t get ANY fuel. WTH .. i did fertilize as any other. We have a lot of fuel .. so what? We deserve the same right as any other person. FV can’t just DISCRIMINATE us because we have lot of fuel. PPL with a lot of fuel also fertilize their neighbors like others. WHY DISCRIMINATE US? Give us what is due to us. We deserve the same right like other ppl.
