Facebook FarmVille Gifting Groups are Scams.
| Posted on Mon ,01/02/2010 by FarmVille Freak FarmGoddess Share this post with your friends on Facebook ![]() |

Recently I’ve seen many of my FarmVille neighbors posting Facebook status updates warning of the fake FarmVille Facebook groups. The status updates read something like this:
“FROM ZYNGA: The makers of Facebook/Farmville issued a statement that all the “bargains” that are being offered regarding free fuel, free hen houses, free stables, etc. are NOT coming from them. They are all a scam by people who may use the information to access your accounts PLEASE CAN EVERYONE COPY AND PASTE THIS.”
Although it is unlikely that the above is an official statement made by Zynga, Zynga has addressed this issue in the past. (See below). Basically these Groups promise to send you special items upon joining their group and of course you never receive your Villa, extra farm cash or Gray Horse.
All of these groups are a waste of time and fruitless because they are nothing more than a scam. When a free Villa sounds too good to be true, especially if you don’t meet the level requirement, then it probably is. If you are still in doubt, think about how this would work. How and why would a group page actually send you an official Zynga item or farm cash?
Do not join these fake groups and do not invite your friends to join them.
If you are interested in reading Zynga’s official response to these fake FarmVille Gifting Groups read below.
“Unauthorized Farmville Applications and Groups
Please be aware that there are many unauthorized user-generated applications and groups circulating on Facebook that claim to offer FarmVille Gifts, Items, or Farm Cash.
Here are a few non-Zynga applications and groups:
- “FarmVille Cash Sender”
- “Join Now and Win a Villa, 1 Million Coins, and 1000 FV Cash! Official Method”
- “FarmVille Join this Group and Get 75 FarmVille Cash”
- “FarmVille Gifts”
These applications and groups are NOT authorized by Zynga and are NOT affiliated or associated with FarmVille. Gifts, Items, or Farm Cash ‘rewards’ from these types of applications and groups will not be displayed as they are not associated with our game.
Please remember that the only way to collect Gifts and Items is through standard FarmVille game play. Please click here to read how to purchase Zynga Virtual Currency: http://zynga.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/525/kw/virtual%20currency/p/402/r_id/101691
If you wish to report an unofficial application or group that is using the name FarmVille, please write to Customer Support and provide the link to the user-generated application or group. We will be happy to investigate.”

Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:15 pm
with over 1200 friends/neighbors on Facebook i receive about 20 of these a day, it sucks
why do people even bother to make these groups? what do they get from it?
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:17 pm
Someone stupid enough to do that deserves to be ripped off to be honest the only proper way to get it is paying how else r zynga gonna afford to pay developers?

Please stop all that ****ing groups, this really piss me off. Everyday I have to erase more than 30 invitations. Nothing here is free. I hate all that silly people that believe in those groups.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:32 pm
Well, I’m shocked. Just shocked. Fraud and scams on the internet? What has the web come to…
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:34 pm
well i think anyone with common sense knows that they wont get anything for free from these groups… i join every single one of them though, not because i’m a fool thinking im getting free gifts, but because whoever else is a member of these groups, will mostly likely add me as a friend on facebook for farmville…in turn, making farmville more easier for me. (more collectables/eggs) remember when you could buy the gold gift for 5 fv$? well i have so many friends who have done that, and got a mystery box, and i grabbed it after they posted it.. this has happened so many times that i was able to get my ‘they of mystery’ in less than a week. (along with a buttload of lambs n chickens!) so its not all bad! ive been working with computers over half my life, and im pretty positive that you CANT get someones password from just joining a group or installing an application…honestly, if that was the case, i would have taken full advantage of it by now! i was never one to show mercy.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:35 pm
My neighbours are too big of idiots to actually understand this… thank god i only associate with them on farmville and not in reality.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:36 pm
Anyone can see that those are a scam. I never understood how it would work. I am fairly bright so if I can’t see a legit way for it to work, I don’t join. They prey on people who are greedy and don’t want to put in the work to get the items, coins, etc.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:52 pm
I know. I can’t believe so many people thing this is real.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:55 pm
People make these groups to advertise. Well, at least some of them. They wait until a group has a lot of members, and then advertise on the wall about farmville bots. They get money off each person that signs up for one using their link.
Other people make these groups just to see how many people join.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 6:55 pm
A lot of people believe they are real, but i think the majority of people who join them do so just to get more neighbors.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 7:07 pm
Well DUH!
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 7:25 pm
Im going to spend the next 6 weeks reporting EVERY group. Every day i get 141245 group invites for a 30×30 farm.
ITS SO OBVIOUS ITS IMPOSSIBLE.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 7:30 pm
Can someone link us to the email we use to contact support? I keep seeing links to “ask a question.”
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Seriously! I get like 50 of these invites a day. What people are STUPID enough to constantly join these groups and then also ask all their friends to join. Anyone who is dumb enough to send out these group invites should be executed so as not to dilute the gene pool with their idiocracy.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 7:49 pm
A quick way to get rid of these groups (or at least the invite spams) — delete the idiots dumb enough to join them. I send a message the first time I get an invite from someone; on the 2nd invite I delete them.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 7:53 pm
I don’t think they need execution but I have removed them as neighbors. Anyone I catch being overly “mercenary” is not someone I want to play with. These are the people who auto accept eggs and stuff and leave nothing for my friends who have jobs and lives outside the game. I even removed someone who was constantly pestering me on chat to give them more gold eggs. As if everyone else didn’t want them as well.
I don’t want cheaters as neighbors. I want Farmville to be a friendly, happy game. Not a cutthroat, aggressive hassle.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 8:33 pm
@Wayne
tough words, I must admit!
But you don’t seem to know the meaning of idiocracy, and yet you don’t refrain from using it. I’d reconsider such toughness if I were you.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 8:33 pm
Okay..so my FV friends have joined a zillion of these groups and have gotten zilch, zip, nada. Does that stop them joining more groups that promise unlimited cash or animals before they are released? No way!!
As a matter of fact one sent me a FB message to say that I was going to be sorry when she gets unlimited farm cash and unlimited gas…at this point I am dying with laughter!!!
Who needs those groups when all the good tips are found right here on Farmville Freak???
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 8:46 pm
There scams, what ya shock. No ****
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 9:24 pm
WHAT? all these pages are scams???
Gosh really if you don’t know by now.. there is no hope for you… DUH
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 9:51 pm
I was about to write about this on my site grr but im not gonna copy lol! yea i hate those pages because i wanna run my site and help ppl to play and show them new updates but they rather joins those groups and never get anything :/
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 9:52 pm
hey does anyone know when they are going to do updates
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 11:07 pm
what i hate even more, is some of them try to sell a bot, that you pay real money for, but the bot doesnt even work! my friend purchased it, and all it did was randomly clikc around her farm(not doing any planting/harvestin/plowing) and transform all her baby turkeys and ducklings into adults (she had been saving them!) she told them the bot didnt work and they said theyd give her a refund… they didnt!
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 11:08 pm
Bravo, Terri! Very well said!
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 11:14 pm
Right here on this site they have those FarmVille secret scams.
I wish Facebook would better police it’s own site and ban these farmville scam pages/groups. They add absolutely nothing to the Facebook ecosystem. I doubt it will happen as they didn’t do anything about the FV$ scams from Zynga itself.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 11:15 pm
Missed a part, I meant they have ads for FarmVille secrets, which FarmVille Freak themselves posted about as being scams.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 11:26 pm
I can’t believe how many of my neighbours keep joining these groups, even after they never receive what is promised, and even after I tell them not to bother joining. They just don’t think. The very first time I saw one of these groups, it just made no sense to me. I mean, it was so obvious that there is no way for some random person to be able to give out a bunch of gifts. It was just common sense that told me that the logistics of it were impossible. It just makes me angry now to see a lot of my neighbours still joining these groups and fan pages, I just don’t get how they can continue to get sucked in, after never getting anything and after me telling them it’s fake.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 at 11:29 pm
@Jamie I do exactly the same thing. One warning email and then I delete them. It’s not just facebook I also get lots of “work at home” bs from my farmville friends dumb enough to follow that crap as well. Even the very first one I ever saw which was a free Villa I knew was fake and ignored it.
stupid stupid people
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 12:13 am
some of my neighbors who i collect the most stuff from are the same idiots who join these groups
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 2:07 am
Alot of these are perpetuated by Automation Labs to get you to buy Farmville Extreme Manger which is a POS and buggy. Bad coding…
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 4:00 am
haha, who didn’t actually know this anyway
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 4:27 am
I cnat believe i know ppl who are stupid enough to think this sh*t works.. i’m deeply ashamed
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 5:53 am
FINALLY!! Zynga Speaks Out about this. I’ve been telling Friends for a while that these are probably Spammers looking to get All Your Friends E-Mail Addresses. This is something they need to Keep reminding Everyone of who plays FV and other Games on FB.
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 6:08 am
I knew these were all scams when I just looked at the groups…but my friends join them anyway, despite me saying that they don’t work…I have now posted this link to my wall, so they can look at it.
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 6:45 am
It’s actually pretty funny…There’s already an “official” 100×100 group
With a badly photoshopped picture… And as soon as pictures of new unreleased animals come out on this site, somebody makes a group for it.
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 7:27 am
If farmville freak knows about these scams… Why is there a advert for a scam on this site? :/
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 10:00 am
Precisely, why are we being warned about some of the scams and not others? The ”farmville secrets” book which is pretty obviously total bs, is being advertised at the top of this page right now…a little bit double standards?
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 10:29 am
its GREY not gray. just wanted to point that out!
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 10:40 am
@ChewyCheddar: Gray and Grey are like “Collectable” versus “Collectible. Both are acceptable spellings. Depending on where you live one is more used than the other.

::::In regards to the advertisements on FarmVille Freak::::
A few of you are asking why we have these FarmVille guide advertising on our website. Please read below.
Almost all of the advertisements on our site are automated and randomized by Google AdSense. Since we are a website dedicated to FarmVille, it is obvious that relevant advertisements for “FarmVille Guides” or FarmVille related products would come up. We do not hand-pick these ads.
Just because an ad is featured on our website does not mean that we endorse them. In fact, in the past we have written posts about these FarmVille Guide scams informing you about them. Try searching “farmville scam” in the FarmVille Freak search bar.
You will also see that the advertisements are always changing because they are randomized. I know that some of you may not understand how this works, but please know that we do not support or endorse any company or group that is marketing FarmVille Guides or bots.
We are constantly bombarded with third parties pushing FarmVille guides, bots or other websites who only want free advertising by spamming their links or products throughout the site in comments sections, chat room, Facebook Fan page and most recently the FarmVille Freak forum. We refuse to do link exchange with any of these parties and encourage you to NOT buy their products.
There is no need for you to buy these products when you can come to FarmVille Freak and get all your FarmVille information for free. However, advertisements are necessary for us to maintain the cost of running this website.
Thank you,
FarmVille Freak Team

In that case I take back my inference of double standards; even if the scam adverts were placed there intentionally… hell this would still be the best place for farmville info on the web
! I think the vast majority of sensible people can spot a scam a mile off anyhow, just a shame that a few individuals make money off information which is right here for free.
I also hope you make enough cash off this place to keep it running for a good few years to come…and buy a few nice things for yourselves – you certainly deserve it!
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 12:44 pm
People just want a shortcut to everything…simple logic can tell that these groups are fake…the only thing it does is promote Farmville, and not to that good of an extent…I recall seeing on one that someone joined for a second coop (could tell that was a scam, since you cannot have more than one, unless there’s a glitch that people exploit) that some people actually lost their coop when they did the instructions. A person from this forum added me as a friend, and he’s joined almost every one of these scams…I just removed him, because I can’t believe people don’t want to play this game honestly…getting everything by working. If anyone invites me to these groups, or I see someone join a group, I say that it’s a scam, because I know they will not work…I’ll try to spread the word to those who do not use this as a forum, and participate in these scams.
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 12:45 pm
Yeah, right villa for free, who will join that group! Nothing is free in this world!
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 1:41 pm
You can setup to block certain advertisements in Google adsense no?
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 2:33 pm
honestly, the amount of people who join these groups are amazing. how anyone can think some random people are just gonna somehow develop the “new 32×32 farm” are complete idiots. i get so many of these invites daily, it’s hella annoying the amount of ignorant people out there.
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 2:55 pm
Just a note, with that farmvillebook you have a video
he says:
hi i’m tony sanders… Look at the farmers name!
And a quick tip: ask for neigbors on the farmville fanpage!
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 3:40 pm
ahhhh wake up folks… Hasn’t anyone ever told that nothing in life is free???? and please quit crying about farmville cash… its a game, at least you didnt have to buy it at walmart for 59.95. So dont buy the cool stuff if you dont want to spen $1.26
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 4:04 pm
Yeah, scams are stupid. So maybe farmvillefreak.com should stop advertising one at the top of their webpage! (referring to the “Secret of the Day: Grow Your Farm at Light Speed!”)
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 4:08 pm
@Stephen: Did you read our response to this post concerning the ads? Ads are necessary for us to maintain the site which is FREE to you and everyone else. We do not endorse these ads. For all of those that hate the ads so much and wonder why we have them, I wonder if any of you have ever or would ever consider donating to the site for hosting and maintenance costs?
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 4:27 pm
@farmgoddess.
Perhaps my tone was a bit harsh, so sorry. After searching a bit, I did find a post related to these ads, but it was nearly 3 months ago. Seems like an update might be good, since the ad is more prominent and consistent now. Also, it still seems to me that it’s the same logic Zynga used when they allowed scammers to post their offers – “We needed the money.” Is there no way to monitor the ads that are published on your site? If not, then it might be good to refresh people that these ads may appear without your consent, given that this is a trusted website for many people.
Posted on February 2nd, 2010 at 5:02 pm
@Stephen,
I understand your concern in wanting to maintain FarmVille Freak as a trusted website, as it is our goal as well! I will do an update post in the near future addressing this issue concerning the scams. Just to re-iterate, almost all of the present ads are automated by Google AdSense, they are not hand-picked. There is a way to filter ads, but it is a little more complicated as these ads are dynamic as are the developers of these scams which happens to be plentiful. Unfortunately, most people interested in directly purchasing advertisement space on FarmVille Freak (outside of GoogleAdSense) are those that make these FarmVille guides and bots, so we actually turn down many offers.
I understand your point and reference to Zynga’s old practices. However, we are in no way on the same scale of Zynga. This website is actually expensive to run and maintain. We need dedicated servers to host due to high traffic. Furthermore, it would be impossible for us to maintain this website without the revenue from ads.
Thank you for your reply and support,
FarmGoddess

The “Secret of the Day” SCAM book is NOT a Google ad. It is a static ad that is part of your code (I looked). And I use an ad blocker that would block it if it were a Google ad. I turned the ad blocker off for a minute to see what I was missing and… ew.
Anyways, it’s also either a lie that this site costs you tons of money or you’ve acted on some really poor judgment to pay someone way too much money for this thing. I’ve run a successful blog for almost three years and the only money I’ve spent on it is the annual fee for the domain name, which is maybe $10 or something.
Also, please learn to write and spell. It hurts to see how bad it can get.
Posted on February 3rd, 2010 at 1:39 pm
I can’t believe people fall for this garbage. I get a few of these invites every week as well, and I just ignore them. But then I also get tons of emails from friends thinking Bill Gates will send them money if they forward the email to a million people. Wake up people! It’s called Snopes.com – bookmark it! (Ok, so I went a little off track…) =)
Posted on February 22nd, 2010 at 10:21 pm
Heyy. they are not all fake, i just made one 2 days ago, i have no people there, yet only three members, but it is not fake, i have a lot of time to waste, so people paste their links, and i send them one, than i get a thank you gift.
but it will be hard work So REMEMBER NOT ALL ARE FAKE
