i had never bough farmcash before… and i figured… hey i’ll spend $50 get a lot of farmcash and buy myster boxes til i get an alpaca…(thinking it would take a couple of tries, but eventually get one)… I ended up buy 16 F***ing mysterboxes… and didn’t get a single alpaca… im disgusted with myself right now…

three of my neighbours got mystery boxes from christmas presents ( 3 blue ones and a white one). They got a gold sleigh, a dancing snowlady, a santa’s workshop w/ 1000XP and one blue one is being saved for later.

ok i dropped $20 for 115 FV$ and bought all mystery boxes. Here is what i got:
2 Jack in the Boxes (very lame, so over Christmas, toys, lights whatev…)
2 Snowmen Family Lights (Very Very Lame, again so over christmas stuff, it may have been cool back in november but not now, after the fact)
1 Welcome Gate (its so, so)
1 Animal Statue (its OK, could have been bigger)
and 1 Alpaca (which is all i wanted out of this batch).
Last week was a little bit better then this weeks, I love my sneaky crow and rock stream.

I opened my mystery box and got an animal statue. It has a cow, sheep, and a chicken on top of one another. The chicken looks like it’s wearing an explorer hat with glasses. It’s ok :/

I bought four and got 2 snowman families (cute, but useless) 1 animal statue and 1 welcome gate. All I wanted was an alpaca and now I have promised myself to NEVER buy a mystery box again. It’s really just a waste of money and I never get what I want anyway. Just like the presents for Christmas. I got four mystery boxes and only got the crappy things (toy chest, golden gate..) when it seems like everyone else got a golden fountain. At least the Christmas gifts was free..

how do you guys get so many mystery boxes? people are saying they get 3, 4, 5, even 6 boxes. I am a level 34 farmer and i have only been able to afford 1 mystery box EVER. =[ i never spend farmville dollars either, besides on a baby turkey and a lamb (which i got both in the presents… massive waste of dollars).
whats your secrets to getting so many mystery boxes? do you guys actually “buy” farmville cash with real money?…

I bought ONE and got a Jack-in-the-Box AND 400 XP. Almost everyone of these previous comments does not mention the XP. Please tell how much XP you get also! Thank you!
And to anyone wanting to know how you get so much FV$: You purchase it with real money (credit card, etc). The more FV$ you buy, the lower the price and it recommends the best value of 115 FV$ for $20 ($16 if you can get it on sale at 20% off). I only bought mine when a pop up appeared offering “20% off FV$ for the next 10 minutes.” That came out to .14 per FV$ (14 cents people), so the mystery box cost $2.24 (if you get FV$ on sale).
Keep in mind that even the “booby prizes” LOL come with XP and can be sold for coins, if you don’t like them (and it’s usually a pretty decent amount).
It is similiar to gambling. For example, with the current mystery box, it seems everybody wants the Alpaca (I DID TOO)! Since it’s so random in what you will get, you have to be able to control that urge to keep buying up mystery boxes until you get the prize you want! Is it really worth it or that important to have something, like the Alpaca, if you have to buy ten mystery boxes to get it? That’s up to each indivdual, but most people don’t want to have to “pay” any money to play this game–AND YOU DON’T HAVE TOO. It is still an enjoyable game even if you never buy FV$. It is just a game too. You don’t have to “keep up with the Jones’s” unless you want to do that!
Your FV$ won’t disappear, so why not buy some and control the urge to buy so many mystery boxes and other FV$ items! I plan to just buy one mystery box each time it changes. As for the other FV$ items, well they have to be really good before I will purchase them! I did think the Clydesdales were a good value (12 FV$ each), plus they are animated and do harvest quite a bit. Personally, I don’t think ANYTHING is worth 25 FV$ though! That’s just my humble opinion though!
Again, it is possible to play FarmVille without buying FV$ and can still be fun.
Keep in mind though, there is also a new ribbon you get for buying mystery boxes (ribbons give you coins and XP, which is a good thing).
And lastly, it has been said before, but I will say it again: This game is in Beta mode, so each time a player buys FV$ or coins (BTW, the coin purchase seems very very expensive to me and totally unneccessary), you are helping to pay expenses of the programmers, etc. The end result will be constant improvements, etc. If you want a perfect game, then you can shell out hundreds of $$ and get yourself a PS3, Wii, etc!

Which simply means the old adage about fools and money still applies. However, I’ll give everyone a better analogy as to why the Mystery Boxes are pathetic: they’re as big a scam as a carnival pull-the-string booth. Out of 200-300 strings, only one or two actually is attached to a stuffed teddy bear. the others go to a plastic thin injection molded kepwie bear with 3-D flicker eyes that cost the inbred scumbag(s)(*) two cents in bulk. Oh, and you paid ten tickets for one pull, and those tickets cost you 50 cents a pop, if not 75 cents. When you open the Mystery Box and you get something utterly worthless like that damned dildo-looking lollypop, or something that’s goddamn *common* like a plain white chicken, it’s the same exact ripped-off feeling that those *STUPID* enough to fall for the pull-the-string booth scam will get.
You know, if we all had any real common sense, we’d file a class action suit against Zynga regarding false advertising, because their claims that the Mystery Boxes contain only the *best* items is a clear and obvious lie. Most states have Attorney General’s offices that take false advertising very seriously, and tend to levy really stiff penalties on those who clearly deceive just as what Zynga has done with the Mystery Boxes.
Anyone up for it?
(*) Usually it’s a really retarded looking guy with a more retarded looking trailer trash of a wife/significant whatever, although sometimes it’s a “bubba” with a gut bigger than Peter Griffin’s and an IQ less than Homer Simpson’s, with a family tree that’s more like a diseased shrub. Which begs the question of whether anyone’s got photos of the Zynga team. I’m willing to be I just described at least 78% of them…
