CNN Video Interview with Zynga CEO, Mark Pincus

The CEO of Zynga Games, Mark Pincus, did a video interview with CNN reporter Pauline Chiou.
Mr. Pincus, the Zynga god himself, says the large number of Zynga players is due to the appealing nature of the games themselves, that he describes as,
“Short form, easily accessible, and social. Everyone needs five minutes of fun”.
Zynga games such as FarmVille, Mafia Wars, Cafe World and FishVille all have similar competitors. However, the Zynga games have the upper edge when compared to their non-Zynga counterparts. Why is it that Zynga games seem to be more successful than competitors? He credits a team effort with the success of his franchise games and the investment and commitment of providing new content that keep players happy. FarmVille alone updates and adds new content at least two times per week, always bringing something new and interesting for its virtual farmers.
When asked, “When is the IPO!? When will Zynga go public?”, he responds with:
“We are a young company at only three years old. It’s amazing that people are asking us when we are going to go public…it’s flattering,”
There is no set date or time frame when Zynga will go public.

Im mad as heck I was moving things around on my farm and when I clicked on my cottage to move it got deleted???!!! Why ??? It wanted to delete everything I clicked on , now Ive lost my cottage and its not fair because of your stupid glitching . I know its just a game but things like this just arent right , some one should make this right with by replacing things .

Your welcome FVF for posting this on a diff thread and then you don’t accept it and then post it on a different thread. lol

What exactly is meant by going public?
Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 6:21 pm
i was gunna ask the same thing…
Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 6:50 pm
Going public means making it a publicly owned company via stocks.
Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
I want his Tshirt !!
anyone have links or sites to get it ?
I cant find it on the zynga sites ? unless im just overlooking it.
Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 6:56 pm
Also, I think “going public” is alowing the public to buy shares in the company, buy stocks in it…
im not 100% but im pretty sure thats what it means, people investing in the company, to help the company and possibly make themselves some money from there investment.
Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 6:57 pm
going public means its put up on the stock market, where everyone can buy the stocks of zynga.

I am so sorry Becky, I know how this feels. I was once about to delete my Cardinal accidentally, and since then, I fear touching my premium decorations and animals. Since they have a delete tool, I want them to remove the sell option from the multi-tool completely! Then too, the delete tool gets selected sometimes when clicking on the gift box. This is crazy. please put the god-damned delete button and sell button somewhere where it cannot be selected so easily.

I don’t know where to put this…. I usually don’t complain.
I just bought the bistro table for 6,000 coins and the thing is so tiny my bunnies would even be too big for it! WTH?? I wish I knew how to take a screen shot so everyone else could see before they wasted their coins on the “mini” bistro table!! ugh…..
Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 8:12 pm
The Bistro Table is meant to go with its building counterpart, so I hear, which is also smallish.
But I loled at Fishville being up there. Happy Aquarium and Little Rock Pool are SO much more fun than Fishville. The only upper edge it has to it is Zynga being the creator and slapping its name on it. “Oh, the creators of FV made this, it’s gotta be good!”
But other than that, thumbs up Zynga!
Only three years old, but this epic!

@Susan-
Next time don’t place it on your farm. Get it from the market and try it out before you buy it. They don’t take the coins from you until you click it on your farm. Just click the arrow and it will go away – you won’t lose your coins and won’t be disappointed with you purchase.

. . . congrats zynga for a job well done… =)

UPDATES ARE HERE!!!
Posted on March 10th, 2010 at 1:28 am
That’s such bull**** , the CEO is talking , he says farmville get’s updated 2-3 times a week , and there are 100 people that do that, I mean 100 peopel are doing10 items a week? Zynga support is almost null, and more and more people start leaving farmville cause of the cash issue, it’s not fun when u don’t have other options.
Sure it was intended to be a money making machine , but they push dull unfinished , undersized objects, the bistro and the coffee tables are for what dwarfs ? compared to a villa , they just try to compact them without correcting the other things.
Manny of my friends and neighbors quit the game, because it’s not fun anymore.Like any product it has it’s lifetime and unless someone is starting to repay those 90% of people that don’t spend farm cash, the product will not survive on 10 % or less users that do spend real money for some pixels.

@FVlover: yeah! I do the same trick before to buy FV$ stuff. I wish we could do the same with mystery boxes. But it appears that once the mystery box is open the game saves automatically.
Great for Zynga! About the 100 ppl working weekly I guess he means there are 100 ppl working on ALL the Zynga games (Mafia Wars, Fishville,… etc). I´m a programmer I wish I could work at Zynga…. it would be my dream job

3-4 hours for what? lol only thing you can do is plow plant and harvest which takes 15 mins at most and mabye buying or checking out the new updates another 15 mins so for the rest of the time do you just stare at your farm? lol

Did no-one else find it a little concerning that he was extremely vague about the length of time people will have “ownership” over their farms and virtual purchases? He seemed to almost say the word years and then change his mind and just say “some time” or something similar, and not very convincingly either.
Judging by that interview I’d say it’s best to assume farm cash purchases are more like rentals, in that your not guaranteed ownership for any length of time. Zynga are getting greedy and it’s starting to show in all their games, I’ve lost over 30 neighbours in Farmville since Christmas, and the list is growing constantly.
It’s the 90’s Internet boom and bust all over again, most of these games will die out and fade into obscurity within a fairly short time-frame, all bets are off as to which ones survive and in what form. There’s obviously a reason it’s still Beta, legal protection should they decide to pull it or make drastic changes that affect users purchases, though it must be said they have left a few holes that could lead to legal action in some countries should farmers loose anything they paid “real money” for.
I love the game, but I cant help thinking it’s probably doomed in the long term due to pure greed.

I am so disgusted. I never get anything good in the mystery boxes
Posted on March 14th, 2010 at 11:18 pm
