Its stupid that the NYT is complaining about Farmville when they probably haven’t even played it. And a Farmville hate group is way more retarded than a Farmville fan group! And not everyone is so obsessed that they set their alarm clocks at 1 am. I love playing Farmville and I only go on once or twice a day for a couple of hours, so it isn’t ‘unhealthy’ or whatever to play it. Its just fun!!!

It’s also a great way to teach kids math (especially percentages)! I love this game…do wish my animals would stay animated however.

I love Farmville, although the fact that you can only see your farm from one angle makes it harder, plus it’s kind of annoying. Hopefully Farmville can fix this…

Yep, it clearly was not written by someone familiar with FV as this line blatantly shows: “As you accrue currency, you can buy things, from basics like rice and pumpkin seeds to the truly superfluous, like elephants and hot-air balloons”. Number 1, Rice is not a “basic” crop. You have to be along fairly far to unlock it (right??) AND Number 2, you sure as he…ck can’t buy elephants or hot-air balloons… not any more! I always expect more from the NYT. Guess I shouldn’t… Happy Farming!!

@ Joe. Agreed! I would have liked to see more about the positive aspects of Farmville such as it’s international influence, bringing people from all over the world together, etc. I also feel like it didn’t gauge the depth of how loved Farmville really is by its users as well. It seems like it was written by someone that doesn’t really understand the game.

Great article but it ends abruptly which is strange. On another note, i can understand people “not getting” Farmville and other games on FB but to go to all of the trouble to create pages solely devoted to complaining about how much they dislike said games is a TRUE tribute to having way too much time to waste in your life. Why not waste it with something FUN… like… FarmVille!!

They just added the white owl and the owl for “halloween only.” Unfortunately these count as “decorations” and not animals. Also unfortunately, you can only buy them with farmville cash.
