FarmVille Zynga New Site Survey

FarmVille Freak FarmVilleTips discovered an interesting survey distributed by Survey Monkey for Zynga.

It seems that Zynga is looking for feedback about naming a new site that would work as an umbrella site for all Zynga games. According to the survey, the website would provide a place where you could access all your Zynga games. Read more below:

“Imagine a place where you can play all your favorite Zynga games like Farmville, Mafia Wars, Café World and others. This would be a place where you could play games:

  • that are always free
  • without losing any of the friends or game history you have already built up
  • that allow you to earn rewards faster and have them apply across all Zynga games
  • with faster performance and fewer glitches
  • where accepting gifts or neighbor requests is quick and easy
  • where helping friends or asking for help is easy to do
  • that allow you to see game-relevant feeds & posts in one place
  • that have a substantially larger game playing area
  • that allow you to trade items with friends
  • that show how you compare against your friends and other players
  • that provide exclusive game features
  • that let you receive and share tips with other players”

Note: Out of respect for Zynga, we are not posting the original link to the survey because we do not know the original audience the survey was distributed to or intended for.

I’ve said it before… Zynga should DITCH Facebook! They want us to freaking use our email inboxes to send and receive gifts/bonuses. I’m glad they delayed that so far but for how long? Zynga is well established and they have enough resources, both human and financial, to support their own networking site so everything will run smoothly to their specifications and not have to rely on Facebook.

A networking site based on games would be an interesting concept, and I’m sure they can make it to where you can link your facebook account so that’s a quick boost of user-sign ups.

Frankly Zynga would be dumb NOT to implement this new site because as it stands, I don’t see myself staying on facebook in 6 months, the fact that I’m still using it today is only because I got addicted to farming.

LOL Megan, yeah that site would be having a dog as well.

Apart from that I didn’t like the idea of leaving Facebook aside and jump toward a networking site. The reason that Farmville succeeded to establish its writ was its affiliation with Facebook, not to mention the same is the reason for their everyday increase in the number of players. Now if zynga tries to change the arena then of course there will be a substantial decrease in the number of players and they will have to be contended over advertising via google and other social sites in order to invite people, which in turn will make them “just another free gaming zone”. So in the end of the day, what I suggest zynga is to stick with face book because its one of another reason that they don’t have to go through massive advertising campaigns.

    ZyngaVille

This is not a new system, however it would dramatically change the environment. Gamespy Arcade, Steam, and many others have tried this. While some have made money (The whole idea behind game development), the idea is laughable to gamers.

    Why?

Website became popular, they don’t have enough bandwidth .. lag occurs. Instead of game developement work now occurs to solve Network issues. ….. Patroling of the community is now needed, Moderators, admins, web developers all needed. People get annoyed at the type or frequency of advertisements, and either block them or stop going to the site.

Zynga already has a gaming network created (Forums, tool bars, blogs and podcasts) as far as I can tell we don’t need another layer of Administration that will do nothing except bloat costs, reduce development and limit profits.

Yes it is true that Facebook helped Zynga get a foothold onto the Social Gaming platform but it seems to me the Facebook is now regretting that due to sheer amount of network traffic that is being pulled in by all these gamers. Last I heard over 70 million active users are playing just Farmville alone on Facebook.

They made recent changes to the way games are accessed via bookmarking and are trying to do away with the wall posting for game feeds and other apps. So Facebook says find another way to get your game feeds to the gamers…that’s where emails come into play. So now all the traffic is directed to email servers which I don’t think is right because that is just passing on the problem to someone else. Like you said “just another free gaming zone” I think that IS what Zynga is trying to do but Facebook wasn’t meant to be that. I’m pretty sure it will be easier on everyone if(and when) Zynga finally decides to cut ties with Facebook. I don’t think they will lose much players if they did because it would be much easier to navigate through everything. You don’t think people are going to get aggravated checking their email inboxes just to make sure they get their game items? When they fully decided to use just the email system a lot more people will be turned off to the games because it’s not a simple process anymore. Remember these games are meant to be fun, easy to access, and quick.

As for them having problems on their own regarding to massive advertising, they make enough revenue from virtual goods sales to pay for all the advertising they want,I could even see other companies paying for their ads with special duo promotions because “Farmville” is a household name by now…
