They’re cute, yeah. I particularly like the Border-Collie.
But man, I am so borderline on this anymore. One part of me is hoping/trusting that Zynga releases this as a coin event [just the puppy - of course the add-ons [doghouses] will be FV] because of player dedication; but the other part of me knows they’ll totally want to make bank… which, again, I’m hoping will be on the additional items with the puppy.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully this Tuesday, yay.

I think golden retrievers are such more cuter in real life, and the border collie is really cute in this game, and in real life. I say I’m buying a Border collie.
But I used to be the owner of a german shepherd, but she is helping others now.
It’d be great if they added German Shepherds.
Hopefully you can buy dogs with coins. I have like 550k coins, but 0 cash. :/

The collie looks cool. Knowing that this has been a long anticipated event and logical addition to the farm… I would hope that every player, broker or not, will be able to share in the fun (I mean coins not cash). Or maybe they will give every player a dog house and require us to chip in with each other to find our dogs.. just a thought. If it is all cash and I break down and buy one… it will be sleeping in the rain as I will refuse to buy it a house.

Some user named “skeptical” had said something like they felt that zynga has made such a big evental of it with the sneak preview that there would be a free one.
I agree, I am willing to bet that at least one FOR SURE will cost $FV (apparently the GR) and one FOR SURE will be free, or non-farm cash in some way, maybe giftable or adoptable.
Like the cats….one is farm cash, two are adoptable and the other was/is a Christmas/Mystery gift prize.
Imagine the major uproar and cries of discrimination from dog-lovers and FV users if all the puppies cost $FV. There are free cats, why not free dogs. I prefer to think zynga is smart enough to avoid that issue.

All animals that came out new were farm cash, but seriously all of them costed between 16 and 20 farmcash (animal crate). I think that is afordable. I just bought a half headed horse for 20 farmcash (ok didnt know that the new horse would only have half a head). I would love to see a puppy mysterybox too, with different breeds in it, i would buy a few if i could, I always buy new animals, at least one of each as far as i got cash, sometimes i do miss something special, like the owels and doves
. But i think they will not cost more than 25 farmcash cuz i think zynga is fair and wants us all to have fun with their game. So pay once on their hard worked on dog and then enjoy, god people think about it, seriously, how much real money do you waiste in life on stuff that you dont really need? I love buying images if they make me happy, i play very much and i am very happy to get something new. I think they will have add ons for the puppies in coins and in farmcash. I hope that we can build a dog house and collect items again. every dog needs a house. I love the idea that the dog is really playing in this game and not just another animal to harvest. cant wait to play and pet my puppy

There is no problem buying money i spend plenty of money on wii games and i spend alot more time on farmville then all of my wii games combined i buy fv cash alllll the time. Has anyone noticed that the still images displays the dogs standing on all fours, yet in the animated .SWF files, they are sitting down?
Anyway, I believe the dog(s) shall be free. They have anticipated the subject for far too long to make it only applicable to those willing to pay farmcash for it. And, there is an unreleased dog-house. Do you think they would make add-ons to the dog feature for the minority who want to pay farmcash? Highly unlikely.
However, if they do make the dogs cost FarmCash, that is a very bad move on Zynga’s behalf, and I’m sure many others including myself shall be disappointed.
On a logical assumption, I think that there will be some sort of event where we will be given any random dog. For example, there could be a dog’s cage in your gift box, and you open it to reveal the breed of dog you will receive.
Obviously, people will have preferences over other dogs, so Zynga would probably make other dogs available for purchase for around 30-60 FarmCash. I think it’s also safe to assume that the dog ‘add-ons’ could cost FarmCash, but I think it would be wise of Zynga to make our first dog free, be it at random or selective.
Just my personal views.

As I recall it, in each of the clues given out in Petville, each of the dogs was described as being particularly good at something:
- Border Collie: Smart, commands other animals
- Sheepdog: Herding Sheep
- Golden Retriever: Soft mouth for fetching
I’d wager this is what the dog’s job would be on the farm. But as I said before, in order for the dogs to perform these tasks, they would have to allow all animals to “walk” the farm again. Since that feature has been turned off for weeks now (supposedly it had something to do with the out of sync errors), I’m wondering how they’re going to do that. Did they finally fix the problems? Hmmm… I guess we’ll find out either late tonight or sometime tomorrow.

It’s entirely possible that the puppy could be one of these gifting situations like the Stable and the Maison — where you get the framework for a dog house and people need to gift you the pieces to build it — or get supplies for the dog. Maybe a dog bowl, a collar, a crate, a water bowl, food, a ball — that sort of thing. Once you get all the pieces, then you may adopt a dog of your choice. Alternately, if you have the $FC, you can buy one outright from the marketplace. Seems to me the Stable and the Maison are the same way — either build it, or pay $60FC up front. I think that would be a very fair way to handle it, especially if it’s tied into National Puppy Day — spreading awareness of the responsibility people have in adopting and keeping a dog.

Not that I know any more than anyone else, but I kind of agree with Kate, above. I will not be surprised if we have to assemble a dog house with giftables in order then then “adopt” the puppy. I really hope it’s today, the wandering horse/foal thing got tired fast……I am an addict, after all, and I always need more

I like the idea of “building” the dog. Dog house parts, water bowl, food bowl etc. But I am pretty sure it is going to cost between 50-100 FV$.
If you were running the company and there was this much demand, wouldn’t YOU?
It’s possible that once you buy the dog we will “get tricks” from friends. For example, your friend trained your dog to shake hands, roll over etc.
I wonder if we will “earn” anything from it? And are they boys or girls?!

I think they are both really great. I just hope they are available for farm coins instead of farm cash. That will make them available to more people. But the horses and other animals all cost farm cash and I can’t afford them, so I guess the dogs will be out of touch too. Listen to us FarmVille staff.

I tend to be of the same opinion as Toronto Farmer (comment #74.) The cats came in different ways: The ugly white one is adoptable. The pretty orange Tabby available for Farm Cash. I forget how the Grey Tabby and the black one came to live on my farm but you get the picture.
Here is a thought: Will the new dogs chase the FarmVille cats?
Also, has there EVER been a BUILDABLE ANIMAL? Buildings, yes. But ANIMAL? Dog house, conceivable, but DOG?
Another random thought: Has anyone besides me ever wished that those Mischevous Ransacking Racoons that we are always wiping out could someday be adoptable????

I don’t think of it as building an animal, rather, as preparing the farm for the animal’s eventual arrival. As a responsible dog owner, you don’t run out and adopt a dog if you have no leash, collar, crate, toys, dog bowl, or dog food, right? Besides, when we built the stable, we collected boards, nails, as well as horse tack (bridles and horseshoes), then we got a horse when we were finished, right? I’m just saying it might be along the same lines.
Of course I could be completely off base and it’ll be, like, $200FC purchase up front. Nobody has a crystal ball. We all have to wait and see.

I think it will be like the mansion event, you ask help from your neighbors to build the house and dog supplies, and when you’re finished they’lll give you the dog, but it will be on the market for 70FV in case you don’t want to ask for help. You know? just like the mansion!

I like the sound of a Puppy Mystery Box…it’s a cardboard box with holes cut in it, with a pair of eyes peering through them…randomizes over certain breeds…that would be cool…I just hope the dogs will be semi-affordable…
