Google+ Welcomes Games, but Not FarmVille!
Google+ launched only about a month ago and today it finally introduced its first available games!
Angry Birds, check. Bejeweled, check. FarmVille, nope. What!?!! No FarmVille? Yes, Zynga is on board, but some of its most popular games (and our personal favorite) are not. Both FarmVille and CityVille are not on Google+ as of yet and it may have to do with a deal that makes both games exclusive to Facebook. For now, to satisfy your Zynga fix on Google+ you’ll have to settle for Zynga Poker. Of course more titles could be added in the future. Remember, this is only the premier of the gaming sector on Google+. Knowing this we remain hopeful that it too will one day be accepting of our virtual farming addiction. The more ways to access our FarmVille farms, the better.
According to TechCrunch we can expect Google+ to keep our gaming separate from our other social networking, which means no cluttered wall of game requests mixed in with stuff we really want to see, you know, like babies and ambiguous drama-filled status updates.
“When you’re ready to play, the Games page is waiting—click the games button at the top of your stream. You can see the latest game updates from your circles, browse the invites you’ve received and check out games that people you know have played recently. The Games page is also where your game accomplishments will appear. So you can comfortably share your latest high score—your circles will only see the updates when they’re interested in playing games too.”
Even more good news for those of you that’d prefer to reject social gaming and all its pleasures of endless requests and notifications: Google+ promises that it’ll be easy to ignore them, “If you’re not interested in games, it’s easy to ignore them. Your stream will remain focused on conversations with the people you care about.”
Are you sad that Google+ doesn’t have FarmVille? Would you play FarmVille from Google+ if it was available?
