Google+ Welcomes Games, but Not FarmVille!

No FarmVille on Google+

Google+ launched only about a month ago and today it finally introduced its first available games!

Angry Birds, check. Bejeweled, check. FarmVille, nope. What!?!! No FarmVille? Yes, Zynga is on board, but some of its most popular games (and our personal favorite) are not. Both FarmVille and CityVille are not on Google+ as of yet and it may have to do with a deal that makes both games exclusive to Facebook. For now, to satisfy your Zynga fix on Google+ you’ll have to settle for Zynga Poker. Of course more titles could be added in the future. Remember, this is only the premier of the gaming sector on Google+. Knowing this we remain hopeful that it too will one day be accepting of our virtual farming addiction. The more ways to access our FarmVille farms, the better.

According to TechCrunch we can expect Google+ to keep our gaming separate from our other social networking, which means no cluttered wall of game requests mixed in with stuff we really want to see, you know, like babies and ambiguous drama-filled status updates.

“When you’re ready to play, the Games page is waiting—click the games button at the top of your stream. You can see the latest game updates from your circles, browse the invites you’ve received and check out games that people you know have played recently. The Games page is also where your game accomplishments will appear. So you can comfortably share your latest high score—your circles will only see the updates when they’re interested in playing games too.”

Even more good news for those of you that’d prefer to reject social gaming and all its pleasures of endless requests and notifications: Google+ promises that it’ll be easy to ignore them, “If you’re not interested in games, it’s easy to ignore them. Your stream will remain focused on conversations with the people you care about.”

Are you sad that Google+ doesn’t have FarmVille? Would you play FarmVille from Google+ if it was available?

  5. DONNA Says:

I was so looking forward to Farmville being on google+ what a huge disappointment. I love Farmville and do not care to use google+ till they have Farmville…..too bad…..was so happy till I found out NO FARMVILLE>…..:*(

If you have the AP News application on your cell phone, go down to the tech section and read the full article they have about the deal. Face Book and Zynga have quite the lucrative deal for FarmVille going, with FB pulling the better end of the deal. Google+ will more than likely never be able to get hold of some of the iconic Zynga games, no matter what their status as partners is because FB has, I believe, an exclusive contract with them for quite some time. And oh, would I love to have the money that gets pulled in. But, before you call both companies greedy in what they charge for the game money, please keep in mind that FB rents quite a bit of server space from and you’ve got to know that they aren’t getting much of a bargain from them!

we need to go to google+ sometime becuase facebook will shut down next year

  8. Marguerite Says:

I don’t need multiple famvilles. I like google + and am perfectly happy not to have the frequently dysfunctional Zynga games to waste more of my time. I am quite happy to use google+ for engaging with people.

  9. Yellowbird Says:

The moment all my favorite Facebook games comes to google+ i will ditch Facebook like a hot cake! Seriously sick and tired of Facebook and its weirdness!

  10. Deb Says:

    Good decision Google !

  11. sarah Says:

I’m glad that we won’t be seeing farmville on google+. It would be nice to see posts from friends that have nothing to do with games. It would be kind of nice if all the games on facebook were put under one tab. Everyone plays so many games and the feed gets pretty cluttered.

  12. laura Says:

man i’m getting old, what the hell is google+ ?

  13. Stephanie Says:

F Google+. Im sick of social networks in general. I just want to play my games and be left alone.

  14. mickeluss Says:

Bringing Farmville to Google+ would be the worst decision Google and Zynga could make.

  15. Cougarah Says:

Let’s not be stupid! works better on Google than on Mozilla FireFox… I never play from the facebook app anyway

  16. Romel ~ Says:

I think they was just insulting because farmville is the most popular game in facebook and Google + has no NICE game in their site … ;(

  17. Bridey Says:

I am disappointed that google+ isn’t going to have farmville because their circles would be a perfect way to keep real life friends and family seperate from game friends.

  18. Tom Joad Says:

As a member of Google+, I am glad the don’t have Farmville. Google can form a partnership with another company and offer exclusive games. If anyone has seen the Google+ format, it is 10 times better than Facebook could ever be.

  19. Cate Says:

MORE items for coins, prizes, and rewards! Make money from advertising and in-game promotions, not from charging customers real money for virtual items. What happens to our investment when Farmville fades away and goes kaput? There is nothing tangible for us to get out f it. It s insane to put dollars into it. We will lose everything we put in. Get real.

  20. Nadia Says:

Yes i am very dissapointed!!! it would have been so cool to access farmville on another manner and not just via facebook. :(

  21. julie Says:

I would like to check out the new google + but sadly if my favorite games (Farmville & Cityville) are not on it I won’t be either! I am glad to hear bejewled is on google + Looking forward to this new google + with better organization of games & status updates….

  22. Burgo Says:

maybe its not the “stupid” game freezing your pc but rather a pc riddled with malware owned by a stupid person lol
