FarmVille Going Coconut Crazy

FarmVille Farm Coconuts

As you are well aware, FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise has its own special currency- Coconuts.

These Coconuts have been causing quite the confusion and tension among farmers. Specifically, which farms you can actually harvest Coconuts on keeps changing in FarmVille.

When we talk about harvesting Coconuts, we are only referring to those items that produce Coconuts. Many of you also seem confused about this so we’d like to clear that up while we are on topic in the side note below. If this information is insulting your virtual farming expertise, please skip ahead.

Side Note: What’s up with Coconuts?!FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise has two currencies which include Farm Cash and the new Coconuts. Only items designated as Coconut producers will yield Coconuts when harvested. This means that although you may have placed some cool animals on your Hawaiian Paradise farm that you’ve gotten from the Facebook News Feed, found leftover in your FarmVille Gift Box, or even purchased in the FarmVille Market- only the Coconut producing animals will yield Coconuts! This also applies to Hawaiian animal habitats. It doesn’t matter if you have a Hawaiian Horse Paddock full of horses. If they are all regular Farm Coin producing horses, then you will only get Farm Coins when harvesting your Hawaiian Horse Paddock. On the other hand, if you have a stable stocked full of Coral Horses (Limited Edition Hawaiian Paradise item) you will be treated to Coconuts upon harvesting.  Remember:

  • Only Coconut-producing items (animals/trees) will produce Coconuts.
  • Farm Coin-producing items (animals/trees) will produce Farm Coins in FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise.

Be sure to check an item’s market icon as shown in the FarmVille Market and it will display a Coconut value if item is able to produce Coconuts. Read more about Coconuts by clicking here.

Now back to the issue at hand, in case you haven’t been keeping up, here’s a quick recap on Coconuts.

First, certain Coconut-producing items were able to harvest Coconuts on all farms. This was a FarmVille “Known Issue” that later became resolved by making Hawaiian Paradise items able to harvest Coconuts in Hawaiian Paradise only. The original intention was that Hawaiian Paradise items would only be able to harvest Coconuts if they were placed on Hawaiian Paradise farms.

“Coconuts are granted outside of Hawaiian Paradise when harvesting!
Coconuts are granted outside of Hawaiian Paradise when harvesting applicable animals/items.

  • Last Update: 3/2/12
  • Description: Since the release of Hawaiian Paradise, players have been receiving Coconuts when harvesting applicable animals/items outside of their Hawaiian Paradise farm. Coconuts should only be granted when an item is placed/harvested in Hawaiian Paradise.
  • Status: Resolved.” (Source: Official FarmVille Forum)

Then, FarmVille’s official Facebook Fan Page announced on March 6th that they would be allowing players to harvest Coconuts from Hawaiian Paradise items on all farms.

FarmVille: Your feedback on this is loud and clear! Effective immediately, we are reverting the rules to allow players to harvest coconuts from Hawaiian Paradise items on all farms. ” (Source: Official FarmVille Facebook Fan Page)
Now, we are back to where we started (I think?) as players are once again reporting that they are unable to harvest Coconuts from animals or trees that should produce Coconuts on any other farm besides FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise. We are only getting Coconuts in Hawaiian Paradise. This has since become a FarmVille “Known Issue” as well.

Coconuts Not Being harvested On Other Farms

  • Last Update: 3/8/2012
  • Description: Since 3-8-2012, players are unable to receive Coconuts for Harvesting Animals or Trees that are Coconut Producers on Farms other than HP.
  • Status: The FarmVille studio is aware of these reports and is investigating the issue.
  • Workaround: N/A” (Source: Official FarmVille Forum)

Are you Coconut confused? So is everyone else. More details to follow… In the meantime tell us what you think!

Should you be able to harvest Coconuts from Coconut producing items on any farm or just Hawaiian Paradise? Take our Poll below and let’s discuss in the comments.

FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise: What’s up with Coconuts?!

FarmVille Farm Coconuts

By now you’ve probably already heard that in FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise the preferred currency is Coconuts. In the land of paradise your Farm Coins are no good. Of course your Farm Cash is still useable, but you won’t have access to your existing bank of Farm Coins. Not that it matters really, because everything costs Coconuts in Hawaiian Paradise.

Let’s talk more Coconuts. There’s a mix of emotions regarding the new currency. On one hand, starting from scratch and building up our farms with good old fashioned hard work provides a new challenge. There’s the “Beat Hawaii” challenge where you save up 1 million Coconuts for the Hawaiian Villa which is reminiscent of the olden days of FarmVille farming when farmers were finally able to purchase the regular Villa for your farm meant that you had arrived. (Read more about that by visiting this FarmVille Freak article here.) In opposition, starting with very little Coconuts (you are given some for starters) means that you will have to farm wisely, plant crops to earn Coconuts, and also harvest them on time because withered crops are not only ugly, but they also mean wasted money or Coconuts. Withered crops is pretty much like throwing your Coconuts away.

This seems fair enough, FarmVille has given us a clean slate and leveled the playing field in Hawaiian Paradise. It’s the details of Coconuts that need to be clarified. If you were hoping to get ahead and use some of those stored items such as extra animals and trees lying around your FarmVille Gift Box on your Hawaiian Paradise farm- think again. Not every item will harvest Coconuts in FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise. What? For example, after placing a few animals that were taking up space in our FarmVille Gift Box- a Beaded Pig, Mardi Gras Llama, Black Horse, Skeleton Calf, and Ugly Duckling in FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise, none of these animals harvested Coconuts. Instead, they produced Farm Coins despite not being able to use them in Hawaiian Paradise. Note, each of the animals listed above were placed “unsheltered”on a Hawaiian Paradise farm or in other words, they were not housed in a animal habitat. Turns out that sheltered or unsheltered doesn’t matter. Why? You can’t make a non-Coconut producing animal suddenly be able to produce Coconuts just by placing them in a Hawaiian animal habitat.

Only Coconut-producing items (animals/trees) will produce Coconuts.

Farm Coin-producing items (animals/trees) will produce Farm Coins in FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise.

So if you are thinking about purchasing a new tree or animal for your Hawaiian Paradise farm, be sure to check its market icon which will show you a numerical value for each harvest in both Farm Coins and Coconuts. And if doesn’t have a value for Coconuts? It’s safe to assume (at least for now) that this item will not produce Coconuts in Hawaiian Paradise. The trickery! Coconut confused much? There’s more.

Perhaps you were hoping to get Coconut rich by using trees on your other farms. Nope, Zynga has fixed that too, and you will no longer be able to harvest items for Coconuts on your other farms. Turns out that being able to harvest Coconuts on other farms besides Hawaii was unintentional and never part of the plan. Read more details below from FarmVille Community Manager, Lexilicious:

“Hey Farmers!

You may have noticed that you are no longer receiving Coconuts when harvesting certain items/animals outside of your Hawaiian Paradise Farm.

It was never intended for coconuts to be obtained outside of Hawaii. In order to rectify this mistake and ensure that everyone is participating on a level playing field, we have removed the ability to receive Coconuts outside of Hawaiian Paradise.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion or frustration this issue may have caused and we would like to thank you for your continued support and understanding while we work to improve the FarmVille experience for all of our players.” (Source: Official FarmVille Forum)

Early access to FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise began almost a week ago and free access is expected to start rolling out tomorrow, Monday March 5th 2012.

FarmVille Beat Hawaii Challange: Collect 1,000,000 Farm Coconuts, Get a Hawaiian Villa

Thu ,01/03/2012

FarmVille Unlock Hawaiian Villa with Coconuts Loading Screen

Be prepared to “Beat Hawaii!”. When traveling between farms, you’ll see FarmVille’s “Beat Hawaii” ad for your FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise farm (free access expected to be available tomorrow). This sort of reminds me of the old days. Think back several years ago (circa 2009) when many of us FarmVille Freaks were playing FarmVille for the first time. Before we were bombarded with endless amounts of Limited Edition items, there was one standard Market item that every farmer wanted- the Villa.

Similar to FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise’s Hawaiian Villa, the original FarmVille Villa also cost 1 million Farm Coins. Back then, the Villa was our something to strive for, it was a status quo. Having a Villa on your farm meant that you had arrived into the professional virtual farming ranks and were no longer a newbie.

Perhaps, if you’ll allow it, this Hawaiian Villa can also be a new challenge for you on your new Hawaiian farm. Most farmers who aren’t willing to drop the Farm Cash for pricey items, will instead have to work their way up from the bottom to earn Coconuts. As you already know Coconuts are the preferred currency in Hawaiian Paradise and your Farm Coins are no good there.

Thank you to FarmVille Freak Mohammad for the heads up!

FarmVille Unreleased Hawaiian Paradise Coconut Unwither Rings

FarmVille Unwither Ring

Many of you asked…and now we have the proof from these unreleased images that FarmVille will most likely be releasing Unwither Rings for FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise Farms, Coconut Unwither Rings that is!

Unwither Rings offer you protection from withering crops and also a little peace of mind as you will be able to harvest crops on your own time, not what their crop maturity time dictates. If your Unwither Ring is turned on then that means no dead crops, ever!

The Unwither Ring only works for the farm it is purchased for. For example, Coconut Unwither Rings will only work in FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise farms and offer wither protection on that particular farm only.

Typically, Uniwther Rings cost around 250 Farm Cash and are only offered for a short amount of time a few times throughout the year. Now that we are maintaining 5 working farms, this would be a treat for any FarmVille Freak!

Thank you to FarmVille Freak Mohammad for finding these unreleased FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise Unwither Rings!

Please note, unreleased items have no official release date and are subject to change without prior notice.
